  1. Are the boards asymmetric? They only seem to be able to go left?! ;) Is this why the riders all fall and can't get back up?? ;) Please forgive me....
  2. I'd sure like to try that board on that hill in those conditions... looks like a blast!
  3. I've been meaning to close the deal for a while on this one... so I did. Carve234 said he spotted another hard booter so that was 3 on the hills of Paoli on the same day... amazing. I'd love to go this week but work is crazy... I'm merging the IT of 2 companies... the horror. We might slip down for Wednesday night or Thursday night but it is all up in the air. My son's b-ball tournament starts Tuesday night if they win they keep playing and I could have no free nights. I'm thinking I will meet up with you this season. I need more carving input! Hopefully by next week I'll have a carving board as well. Thanks!
  4. NASTAR at my local hill has a real flat start... I felt so slow compared to the skiers. So I borrowed a pole and did some push poling before the first gate and tossed the pole... I managed to catch up quite a bit by doing that. I'd love a steep start and low gates!!
  5. Another BOL members opinion who is supposedly ~250#s (~113 kg) about the board, "Very stiff old school, you need to pay attention or it will ride you. Lots o pop out of a turn, can be tightend up. I rode it nose heavy and it liked it. Not for the timid, but very rewarding ride. Hope the succint version helps." I really can't wait to commit to that first turn. :D
  6. Doug Haut 9'6" I don't get to ride that one as often as I live in South-Central Indiana. But I have a 9'6" Harbor Banana Bisect in the garage that travels with me quite frequently.
  7. ...but the skeg is holding back my progression in the snow... I think I need to try some heli-boarding. Who's going to sponsor my research?!
  8. So are we advocating entry cutes or launch devices at the start gates? Then we can have a run what you brung races... snowboards vs. skis vs. monoboards?! The fastest wins! GO! I'd watch.
  9. Surfboarding was first... then Skateboarding, then Snowboarding, then Wakeboarding, kiteboardig, Ad nauseam So the nomenclature that surrounded Surfing was translated into other sports this leads to the confusion of terms that are no longer sport specific being used in similar ways in other sports. I've been avidly skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding since 4ever... (so old ) While sometimes the muscle movements feel similar (bottom turns and carves) the only thing similar with the three is the single rigid plane that we use under our feet to do the aforementioned sports. If the sports are so similar can we do all three on the same rigid plane at a high level? Much love BOL. Peace.
  10. I've ridden in pretty deep pow... it is surfier but it's not surfing. Maybe it was my softboots.
  11. First a big thanks to all the people who have taken the time to offer their opinions about this board and my getting into carving, I really appreciate it. Since I don't live in a demo zone part of the reason I'm going to get this board is that I want to know what "stiff" is... I have a line on a wider deck that I'm looking to get as well. I guess what I'm saying is PM sent! :D
  12. Sh*t if carving was like hanging ten I'd be one of the baddest carvers around... hell if it was like surfing a longboard I'd be so stoked... not to invoke a :flamethrobut it's not. and BTW Grannis > Dora.
  13. Oh noes!!1! not another what is someone willing to spend, cost benefit ratio, supply and demand slug fest. Aren't you the board Admin?! You're just bringing this on your self ya' know! BTW- If anyone wants to buy me one of those I promise to deliver no less than a 1,000 word review of the jacket.
  14. Thanks... It was memorable. Memorialized here: http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=27700
  15. He has several good articles freely available on his site as well. Nice resource!
  16. BOOORing... no broken boards... no wipeouts... no really painful feet. Just me and my Lib Tech Grocer (180), Cateks and hardboots. Had to lower those stance angles a good bit for the Grocer!!! All in all a good day but sans good writing material. The Grocer definitely doesn't hold a line like the Tanker did (sniff) but I'm tired either way. I would say the combo of the orange Deeluxe Indys, the silver Cateks and the blue of the Grocer's top sheet seem to catch peoples eyes. Don't they know it's not polite to stare and whisper! :D And thank you for the previous post comments... Oh and Carve234 I call BS... no way there was another hard booter there. I've only seen one in the previous 4 years I've been riding there and if we are to believe you there were 3 there on the same day! Baloney!
  17. I was both anxious and stoked today to go for my first runs of the season in hard boots. My son had a basketball game this morning so we got a late start to the hill and I threw everything in the car in the rush for the hill. I had decided to go with 51F (3 degree toe lift) and 45R (3 degree heel lift, 1 degree outward cant<- see I am reading and listening ) on my Rad-Air tanker 167 (2001). First run... not comfortable... feet or hips. Something felt wrong... Once the lift to the top was done (resort at the top at Paoli Peaks) I checked... everything was tight. So I took another run. (Note: My ten year-old was so patient with his old man today... love that kid.) Still not OK so I lowered my stance angles... to the minimum allowed by board width... Went for most of the day... things ok... my "Norms" sucked way worse than last season on my crappy softboot setup. We took a snack break and I double-checked my setup... my liners were on the wrong foot. <insert horribly="" descriptive="" profanity="" here=""> I have no idea when or how that happened... still don't. Switched liners... oh my the difference. Set the bindings back to the original setup... (BTW- the CATEKs are addictably adjustable.) Took a couple of runs... much better. Some carves, feet feeling better, things grooving. And I see another hard booter (Hey Jim! :) He's a self-described BOL lurker). We managed to meet him for our last run. I was drooling over his 179 Donek Freecarve II, sweet. On the aforementioned run I was riding an area that I had not before under the snow guns. Yes, I know about the snow piles under snow guns but I guess in the off season I forgot. So I hopped off a little bump to land on another bump... instead of landing on the top my board went through the bump and came to an abrupt stop... well the board tried to but as I believe fervently in the conservation of momentum I continued forward. My son described it as "cool". He told me he thought I was attempting to pulling a full forward flip which he though I was going to make!!! Ummn, son when have I ever tried to pull a full forward flip?! Alas that isn't happening anytime soon and my board buried tail first in the very next snow bump. I erupted with embarrassed laughter at this point with the only immediate evidence of the mishap being my displaced goggles. I got back up to finish up the run and something was not right... really not right. I had delaminated the entire area around my front binding. So here I meet a BOL member and proceed to break my board... while I'm a big guy I have never broken a snowboard... ever (23 years) until now. I'm guessing he might think I'm a complete spaz. He was really nice about it (thanks Jim!) and I'm here none the worse for wear. The search for a real carving board has now begun in earnest!!! I'll go back to the hill tomorrow on the Lib Tech Grocer... trying not to break that one!!! Sorry that was so long BOL thanks for all the advice so far!</insert>
  18. I'll tell you a secret... I've softbooted forever but I'm actually nervous about the hardboots tomorrow... :o I hope the crowds are low!

  20. Did you read the post? My suggestion to you is read, then re-read and then reply.
  21. Not mine but I wish it was...Santa?! Anybody needs ski/snowboard making equipment/materials. We got a lot of top quality ski making equipment and materials. A project that ran out of steam. Don't have exact inventory but major items include a super sweet hydrolic press with a collection of molds all ready for production of 172cm snowboards. All templates included. There is enough materials for at least 50 pairs of snowboards/skis. A ton of ready to go wood cores for snowboards. Also, there is a two bay ski press frame with enough parts to build a double bay press. This is a complete setup that can get you into ski building within days. The press is very heavy, so you would have to make your own arrangements for pick up. Located in Fraser,Co. The press is custom built and was a part of production line in a few well known snowboarding companies. The cost to build one like that is more then $15,000. If interested, give me a buzz at 970 531-1599 or skihappy@hotmail.com Have a white ski season. __________________ Big D.
