    TD2 Si's

Looking for a pair of TD2 si's for my darling wife. Please let me know if you have a set under the bench waiting for a new home....
  2. I rode a donek plate on a friends custom donek saber with softboots in similar conditions to nekduts experience back around xmas and was amazed at how well it worked. It ripped through the chunder and rode like caddy in conditions that would normally shake an edge loose (at least for someone of my ability). I found myself explaining to friends what it is designed to do, and the whole narrowing of stance as the board deflects in a physics textbook perfect world etc etc but then saying that compared to its ability to smooth out that days crud, in reality, the original/inteded benefits seem moot. I was worried i would lose that immediacy of contact or that somehow the plate would over-isolate the rider and one would have to start 'having faith' in the equipment (see: poorly designed long-travel mtn bike suspension, or active ride susp, F1, pre-'93) in order to reap the benefits - when i didnt lose any of that - i could still feel conditions changing underfoot. I am yet to try it on my VSR or any of the other boards gathering dust since i acquired the vsr, but suspect that it would be about the same effect, regardless of board length. If anything - the more rutted/chopped the hill/course, the better it seems to work. As noted by many others -the only thing that got to me was the additional weight. My knees are okay - but by the end of the day i could feel pain in my front knee from what i suspect are just minor adjustments to straightening the board in the lift line, or on the chair. No comment on the additional weight when falling on it - the board was sooooo fast (borderline klug FP 18x white knuckle) i couldnt afford the option on our ON hills. kudos to sean on constructing such a deadly set up. again, as noted by many others before me - game changer. need to try it on a big stick next.
  3. I've had no battery problems with my BB torch - ran it 8am-4pm and still had about 1/2 bat life left. In terms of answering calls etc - it seems to run pretty seamlessly in the background if i'm browsing over morning coffee etc. have a few buddies running it now on different platforms and the s**t talking has already started in advance of this weekends runs. Silly softbooters.... dont stand a chance....
  4. Got 5 days of riding in with it and like it if only because my brain loves more data. Always interesting to see what the top speeds are on what boards - i.e. i feel like i went the fastest on a friends Donek with full white knuckles all the way down, when in reality I was about 6kph faster on my prior softboot setup just cruising. I the sense however that it measures linear speed as opposed to the actual speeds attained in cornering. Still - to know that it is possible to have a 10,000'+ day in Ontario is interesting. eajracing if you're looking to add. My biggest problem is remembering to 'stop recoding' at the end of the day as i have driven to town, bought beer, returned home, made dinner etc before i stopped it and those #'s skew everything.
  5. Had a similar start to my season last year but the colouration was more around the torn rotator cuff than the elbow. My only advice - check your benefits plan, and use as much as you can on physio. Do the exercises. I was back on the hill in two weeks in a limited-secret-dont-tell-the-wife capacity, and back at it in about 4. Took a summer of construction & bike riding to get it back to anything near where it was (and still isnt 100%). Physio had all sorts of electro-something-gizmos they used to help healing & preventing scar tissue from forming on the moving bits. It also had scores of well fit women in lulu lemon outfits looking to take care of me. Well worth the 6:30am visit.
  6. Bear in mind though, Cam can rip on just about anything I've seen him ride on.
  7. Very much with Shawndoggy on this one. I had one experience in similarly cold weather i that I let the adhesive cure for a few hours on my helmet and a slight graze from the chair bar knocked it clean off. Repeated with the heat/let cure overnight routine, went back out the next morning in the same cold and had no problems the first run. Second run i opened it up, buried th nose in some soft stuff and it was still attached after however many cartwheels it took to come to a stop. The footage, going blue sky/white snow/blue sky/white snow and interspersed with flailing arms, albeit hilarious, generally leads to nausea.
  8. and a few more in case you're still on the fence:
  9. A few pics from last years event for those who missed it....
  10. I find it specific to the surface finish of the board. The smoother/glossier - the better it sticks. On my matte finish prior - notta. Still - i'd reccomend tying it back to a binding or something fixed with a shoelace (at least thats how i did it) if you ever get into the deep stuff. That shoelace has saved mine on more than one occasion in flat light when a cat track appears out of nowhere. Even started using it on the helmet mount too.
  11. if not - i've got some cash again and i'd be all over them.
  12. For carving I prefer the Prior MFR to the AMF. Also have a look at the Elan Vertigo's - mmmmmmm..... titanal..... and the Neversummer Titans also rip for this sort of thing, although the SCR is a little tight for my liking.
  13. Can anyone shed light on the liquidmetal product Head is using in their skis/tennis rackets? http://www.liquidmetal.com/ It made the news again today through signing an exclusivity deal with apple for electronic gadgets. I understand the alloy, the manufacturing process etc etc - but does anyone know how this translates to boards/skis and how it affects the ride? Do they make sheets of it? Is anyone experimenting with it? The touted ability to store elastic energy is interesting, as is the video with the bouncing bearings, but how is that going to translate underfoot - more pop out of corners, more damp ride?
  14. Seen at my local no frills. I waited, but Rob Lowe and Pat Swayze were nowhere to be seen. Not even a Hamilton Mustang's jersey.
  15. I'm just happy there was a race that didnt make me regret watching it (see: bahrain, barca, etc). For all the nuts tech noted, it still surprised me to see a 'fast lap' at circuit GV was in the 1:17's... i seem to remember 1:13-1:10's being 'fast laps' back in the late 90's. That said, the fact they can even drive those cars with how tiny the wings and tire contact patches are now is probably the most impressive part of the package (while adjusting front wing trim, brake bias, engine map and plugging the f-duct with knee or hand). First time i havent attended that race since.... i cant remember.... still have a bitter taste in my mouth from when bernie cancelled it. Need a new excuse to do a weekend in Montreal. Need my Banquise fix. Great drive from Lewis & Jense. I'm amazed Lewis & Alonso made it out of the pits side by each without something happening. And someone needs to have a chat with Massa. Maybe have him re-test for his superlicense. One lap without contacting any other car on the track please.

    NHL fans?

at least it wasnt philly...... Kieth is awesome. Even if they make him say dumb stuff cause he's missing 7 teeth. He was my vote for the Conn Smythe.

Put well here: http://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey/nhl/article/808297--7-reasons-torontonians-can-t-root-for-the-habs-tonight?bn=1 even the CBC radio personalities in Toronto have been anti-habs. And if the CBC says so.... who am I to argue? Will be at the Blue Goose tonight wearing an old jagr mullet rooting for Sid & Geno & Co.

    NHL fans?

I think I saw him last night pulling the jersey over some midget dressed in a habs jersey on a line with a bunch of smurfs which must have woke him up enough to score a goal.... my pool's sunk, my leafs didnt even figure (again), so i'm rooting for my second favourite team - whoever's playing the habs. And waiting for the sharks to choke.

  20. fish!!!!!!! maybe some biking, a bunch of portaging, ice hockey goes down to once a week..... but mostly - fish!!!!!!
  21. I've alwayd detuned my old-school boards, finding the advantage of stability while running flat outweighed the almost imperceptible loss of effective edge, and added to that racing ability to 'slarve' around a gate, or some dude in jeans on rental skis at the last second. on my VSR, i find the decambering itself takes care of that scary-edge-catch-twitchiness, however, the nature of the beast is that the board likes to initiate by letting that nose hook up quickly. It can be flappy as snowman points out and it can be scary at low speeds as csquared points out. When Bruce gave it to me, he warned me to play nice for the first few runs to get used to it, particularly at low speeds and get a hang for how the different sidecuts and decambering try to out-compete each other on the flats. I think I've just grown used to how it behaves now and try not to ride it in situations where the nose is flappy and be aware how it wants to hook up at low speeds and/or on flats and generally try and avoid them. I really like the way the nose initiates once i got the feel for it and I havent tried detuning yet as a result. It never really seems to need it the way the traditional cambered glass boards did, but you still need to be aware that it isnt and the traits that come with it.
