  1. I was talking about the riser stem. I've never ordered a Serotta, but I have ordered a custom Seven and they made recommendations for stem lengths, and altered the headtube to accomodate. It''s not a big deal, but was just stating that it odd (to me, at least) than a custome manufacturer would built a bike using a stem/reach combo outside the warranty of the fork (Reynolds recommends less than 4cm of stack). Not talking you out of your purchase..it's a great bike. That's the beauty of bikes....they are meant to be customized and made different! The handmade bike show last week proves that..... As for fit, they really seem to make people think that they aren't comfortable. I've yet to meet a cyclist who says "****, I'm uncomfortable on this" as usually the answer is their fitness level, not the fit. Your body will change over time to accomodate it's load. Cycling is one of the few sports in which you can have the "chasis" of a race car (fit) even though you might not have the engine (power). Yet another area for improvement. So, although there are different fits...there is less of a difference as the pro level. Why not have the chasis of a pro while you're working on the engine? I think Olin skis coined the phrase "game improvement" which I really like as it's a means to improve performance. But...as we talked about last year, some cyclist aren't in the sport to improve, just to have fun. That's cool too!!! But seriously...I like your bike. Very cool. Go ride it. I'm heading out for my monthly FTP test.
  2. Good memory. The SystemSix has tested stiffer (and lighter) than the CR1...and has replaceable dropouts (not that I ever bent one on a road bike). My 56cm with cages, SpeedPlay Zeros AND SRM come in at 16.1. I could easily drop another 1.5lbs if I wanted to (brakes, stem, seat post, seat). But, considering I keep 3.2 pounds of water on my bike, it's kinda pointless. As for clearance...I just measured and I have 2cm at 3:00. But, I can't really think of a situation where that would be an issue if there was overlap. Cyclocross bikes are notorious for little/no clearance and that's a sport where is matters most (tight turns and reverse pedalling to get into position). I wouldn't consider my bike small (I'm 5'11"), rather I'd consider it a racer-fit. You would be hard pressed to find a pro rider using anything under a 120cm stem, which would indicate the length is taken off the top tube. Then again, most pros are more stretched out than the average non-racer. Surprised Mr. Jenney hasn't popped up in this discussion yet.....
  3. Sounds like you bypassed on the opportunity to upsell services, design and/or training..... Perhaps didn't you publish your supported standards. It's great you even accepted .doc files as most print shops do not. Print is PDF is a free download as well. Become a partner and resell Publisher.
  4. What version of Office are you running and did you actually pay for it? (That might be the issue) Several links: http://pcworld.co.nz/PCWorld/pcw.nsf/UNID/ACC21A8F154C34B0CC256AED006F7668?OpenDocument (obviously only relevant to XP) http://www.technologyreview.com/Infotech/18154/ (ding.ding)
  5. Too small? Not according the head of R&D at Cannondale. My last bike was a 54cm and this SystemSix is a 56cm. I "could" ride a 58, but there's a BIG difference in a 56 to a 58...as you're now effecting wheelbase, rake and all sorts of issues. Having raced bikes for 30 years now...IMO, a 120 stem (110 is on that bike, btw) with a 56cm top tube handles MUCH better than a 58 top tube at a 100cm stem. That's kinda the reason why I a bit baffled by the Serotta work. Don't get me wrong, they do a great job..but I've never seen them spec a bike with that rise. I'm surprise they didn't opt of a sloping downtube. No biggie as it gets you to the same space. As for fit, it really comes down to: 1) Comfort 2) Power 3) Aerodynamics My seat height is based upon my power readings. Generally speaking I'm on the "high" side of most fits. I can take a new pix tonight if you'ld like. A video would be more accurate than a static shot of me trying to smile. Plus, I don't ride that bike in the trainer. It was only for fitting. I own a FitStick and here's my "other" bike and the new bike. It's AMAZING to see that you can't simple take measurement from a website..you MUST use a FitStick. This pix is before all the changes....so I leveled of the saddle, took out some spacers and purposely went with more reach. Hope all helps....yes, the Cervelo was/is a 54cm. Where's the TWO cm top tube difference. Look close, it's in the BACK rather than the front. Very strange as its b/c of the goofy seat post tube. The 2nd pix seat hight is correct. Pictures centered from the BB. K
  6. I'm confused...was that a custom build for you? Here's my new ride...although it's completely changed from the photo (lowered seat obviously, longer stem, removed a few spacers, new handlebars and toss'd on a SRM)
  7. Jack - You might find some answers here... Interesting read. http://blogs.zdnet.com/hardware/?p=288 http://blogs.zdnet.com/topic/Windows+to+Mac+Chronicles.html?tag=nl.e622
  8. It depends on how your foots flattens out (pronates) and how much effect the insole with have.... I measure 27.5, I wear 25.0 boots. As for your black toenails, cut them really short before the season and you can slowly trim shorter.
  9. Why would you "switch" and not co-exist? There are plenty of home-servers on the market, along with some that are under development. I have several computers....MACs are good for some thing, PCs are bette for others. The only thing Linux is good for is monkeying around or hosting a web server. ;o) But seriously...I'd develop a co-existence plan rather than looking into swapping everything over to MAC.

    MN Bound TV show

Not sure which is more impressive...the footage done by KARE11 or Karl's ability edit and post a video. VERY cool. Makes me feel bad for not making it..... Nicely done! K
  11. That's always been a great vid. Can someone tell me what track is playing?

  13. And to think the last off topic post I'd expect on BOL was shark porn......

    X-Games Carnage

It's the only feeder program that exists, unfortunatley. There was once hope of USSA snowboard regional programs, but that died 4-5 years ago. Surprises me that it's not more integrated with the skiing programs, but that's another topic for another day..... Then again, I've seen more pro snowboarders fed through USSA skiing than through USASA snowboarding.....
  15. And how do you propose to get internet in mid-flight?
  16. Turkey sandwich.... The avg american breakfast is a recipe for a heart attack.
  17. RIP. (I was out boarding all day w/o my computer)
  18. Oh yes. Matter of fact, if the snow is good...maybe I can come up this weekend! It's too $%@#$%@ cold to ride my bike, so I might as well snowboard. The local hill here is actually opening this weekend. So if I stay here, I'll just answer the "what are the riding" question...... http://www.hiddenvalleyski.com/ I promised to make a surprise appearance one of these weekends..... In other MN alpine news, I hope you guys saw Garrett got himself back on the podium. K
  19. Darn...I missed it. Nice turn out, guys. Did Rufus come out of MIA? This whole thing kinda started up at Spririt Mountain prior to "Expression Session" being used universally. So....the 1st name was "Arc Welder". Trent obviously does a better job organizing than I ever did...... In other trivia....until 2004, the Buck Hill / Hoigaard's Thursday Night Snowboard Series had been running for 11 years. Started by Mr. Tim Parker and somehow got tossed to me, Gabe (RIP) and Holmie always jumped in to help. Trent has the Rossi Back-pack and gates. I think I threw away all the panels...I'm not sure. I'll be back......
  20. I'd certainly agree this was a bad situation....but I'd gladly take 9 hours on a airplane before my holiday trip: 2 hour delay to Den (3) 2 hour delays in Den (to Montrose) Flight Cancelled 3 hour wait in the United Air CS line Overnight stay in Den airport - no concessions open after 10 - no blankets (all given out while I was in line) - no pillows (all given out) - refusal to get my bags (to hop a ride) - no contact solution (my fault for not packing in my carry-on) - slept under the Qwest business center cubical (although I didn't sleep) Next day's flight on-time No bags! Christmas eve church - tshirt and jeans (no stores open) Chirstmas - same tshirt and jeans (no stores open) TWO days later my bags arrive at Montrose (they say it would take another 2 days to deliver). I drive to pick them up. I blame Denver airport, they should have been able to accomodate the weather. Regardless, the airport store closing and lack of supplies was a disgrace. It was simply an inconvenience for me (and 2 days less on snow), but I saw families with kids who were going insane, eldery folks getting ignored and handcapped people without supervision. Truly awful...... Not to minimize sitting on an airplane, but thousands of people were effected in Denver.
  21. Too tough of question to answer on a message board. Are you going to SES? I'd start FLAT and then make adjustments as needed. Too many people start with a monkey set-up only to complicate it further with adjustments. Width is driven by board length (characteristics), body type/size, bindings, boots, cant needed, etc. But, assuming you need to start somewhere and you're b/w 5'9" and 6'1", perhaps 19.5 to 19.75....although I really don't feel comfortable throwing out those numbers w/o knowing more info. To get back to your "style", I'd recommend tossing on the board in your living room and doing some work. Clamp in, rock back and forth, get used to hanging out on the board. After 5 mins of that, "twist" your board (front toe down / rear toe up) and get used to being able the work the work. Next, bent your ankles, knees and hips. If you can't bend without tipping over, there's a disconnect b/w your power and your balance. Keep working on it. Get low....try to emmulate the stance you would like to ride. Yep...you'll look like a complete dork, but it works. Visualize and then hit the slope to execute. I think what you'll learn in the living room is: 1) rear foot bend is VERY important 2) front foot balance is key 3) hip flexibility is important Another drill is to slight edge your board (in your living room). On your heelsides, I'm guess you'll sit in the toliet again. Don't despair.....push your front lower leg to the "10:00" position and keeping pushing in order for it to edge. You need to drive toward 10:00 with your hips/lower leg rather than twisting couter in order to set the edge. I really think you'll understand why you have a problem once you clamp in on the carpet and try the edge your board.....
  22. Opps, my bad. Are you riding those in the pix above....the side of the bail looks like a TD. My apologies..... If this is the case, then there's something in the set-up which is causing you to be pretty stiff. Perhaps soften up the boots.....
