Unfortunately, I'm out. Might drop by in my tie in route to a customer appointment to drop off some goodies for Jim J. PM I'm at Hyland subbing for Scuff and having fun with the GTers. Perhaps have a MES.2009.2 in Feb? K
  2. I have a line that I use with friends...and apologize for the profanity. "You can't polish a piece of ****, but you can put a flag in it" Basically, if the shell sucks or doesn't fit....there's no use tossing more money at it with bells and whistles. The liner market has exploded (up from insoles), yet this isn't going to cure all problems. You mentioned an issue around the ankle...but what other fit issues on your having? The "2 finger" rule is a MAXIMUM, not a range. If it's "2 big fingers" or "2 fingers and some", that is not two fingers.....you want two snug fingers. Before they get working on the liners, double check the shell....and that will be a better indicator on which liner to buy. Good luck.
  3. If you mean me, I use FAST, not Intecs. Rather common my holes get filled with snow and I'm too lazy to dig it out, thus my "boot click" on the chair ride up. Once I click in, I get it a lil tension and I'm good to go.....but 3x or so per year, I'm not. :) IMO, the # of crashes I've had on Intecs are far below the number of broken Intec cables I've seen....although a simply upgrade could cure that. My foot is a size 10 and wear 25.5 boots...and have a few extra pair if you wanna squeeze your foot in them. K

What was the latest update prior to this? I thought everything was in the clear? What happened?

Can I order a shirt with a regular footed rider?
  6. Bruce, unless you could read my mind while I was watching ya on the chairlift, I'm thinking you have me and Karl mixed up. I'm the guy on the yellow board with chronic cold hands (too much frost bite over the years) and a nack for taking as many turns as possible on my SL board. I rarely ride GS or longer. :) I could tell ya what my mind was thinking....but don't wanna mess with your progress with Karl. K (I'm the one on the left, Trent on right)
  7. What are you trying to accomplish? IMO, you're much better off taking a POS Tacx system and making into Free Motion via any number of different McGuever means rather than spending more money on Kreitlers. Don't get me wrong..all of their rollers are REALLY REALLY nice, but riding on Free Motion is soooooo much more slippery and not so boring. Hope that helps.
  8. Tee hee. It's been 10 or so years since I've been able to heckle someone..so I jumped at the opportunity. Funny you heard it!!! It's like those darn racers that dart from Dreams' to the Chalet without checking whose line they are screwing....
  9. Wow! I don't think we could Photoshop a better fall. Yikes...... We better check on Dave in the AM.
  10. Whoa.....I like that. We now get $25 worth of snowboarding for $20. It's the best Christmas present ever!!! K
  11. To pile on the topic......width is important, but only relative to everything else going on. The goal is to be able to balance, edge, pressure and steer your board to optium ability. Part of this is stance width, but also involves stance angles, cant/lift/learn, and also boot type/cant/lean. That's just the start. Certainly not going to question your set-up with such improved results and Karl's assessment, but get to understand the impact of all the other adjustments.... K
  12. I didn't know Trent still carved.....haven't seen him all year. Who is this? If Holmy can confirm the lift tix rate, I might be there. I can't handle another showdown in the ticket office wondering why early morning rates don't apply. So, my guess is that I'd have to pay $35 for $20 worth of snowboarding.

    bootfitting

I'm a US10 and use (very comfortably) a 25 shell..... I made some mods, but extremely happy and hope my AF700s have lots of life left. That said, I custom fit boots for 8 or so years...which kinda helps. Here are a few vids I found which might help convince you to error on the smaller side.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7x4fl1U_2E http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SdhAVCcb6g http://www.backcountry.com/store/dc/668/Backcountry-Alpine-Ski-Boot-Fitting-Guide.html <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7x4fl1U_2E&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7x4fl1U_2E&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  14. I'm late to the party...and appears you guys pushed the thread starter away. Just to confirm a few facts. Skiing did NOT make any ground on snowboarding. In 2007 - Skiing dipped 14%, Snowboarding dipped 2.7%. Since 2001, there has been no year in which the growth of skiing increased more than snowboarding. Source - American Sports Data and National Sporting Goods Assoc: http://www.americansportsdata.com/ss_participation1.asp http://www.nsga.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=3483 FWIW - I own a Swingbow. It's at a buddy's house....and can take photos tonight. The foot straps are busted, but otherwise is decent shape. Anyone wanna buy it? Yes..it was a piece of crap. It should be noted that I started a patent on a dual edge snowboard, but got denied as Hooger had one in production at that time. Darn it! It was basically a base/edge on top of a base/edge. I could post photos if you'ld like.
  15. Dude...where's your email? I'll take the F2 most likey...need a status on the condition. Send me a PM or toss out your email. Thanks K
  16. I'm out...cyclocross national champs in KC. http://www.kccrossnationals.com/ My race is on Sat (Master's), so I suppose I could drive back. I'm a definite maybe...but probably not. Looks like a blast. What track wins..the narrow and fast or the wide and slow? K
  17. Drove to Buck Saw more action on the hill than I cared for.... Drove home Sorry guys. I've turned into a fair conditions carver. K
  18. Why mess with perfection? We need to set the expectation early with Buck Hill that Sun AM is carving time. I might even ride the magic carpet on Sunday!
  19. Bump... My annual lookout for this stuff.
  20. I think Dave might have heard Joe and I talking at the lift counter... "Thanksgiving Day: 9am to 6pm - $26 Adult / $22 Child ($20 Early Bird! 9am-Noon)" If I don't wake up to run, I'll be there at 9 K
  21. LOL.... I can see this stuff happening at Afton, Wild or Welch in mid-January. But....pre-season at Buck Hill? I don't get it. Did this guy need a reason to ski or a reason to drink? Poor kid. Makes me glad my Give donations funnel to Boys & Girls Club and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
  22. The only advice missing in this thread is to bring an extra $6..... It's noon and was planning on spending the $6 at Chipolte. I can understand paying more for something I use...but give two thumbs down for Buck's pre-season discount (er, ah..I mean increase). k
  23. The carving community is making quite a name for themselves at the Lazy H.... Picked up my (freestyle) board. AAAAA+++++ structure and base work. Perhaps the best I've seen. Rapped with some folks, played around with the new equipment. This is the same equipment that SkiMD uses. Actually, H's TrimJet is as high as it gets for edgework. Just took a month to get it dialed in. Can't stress it enough..make sure you tell them what you want (providing you know). I disagree a bit about putting a 1b, 3s bevel. I'd go 1/2. Fine linear runs nice until mid Feb into Nationals where you might want to cut a bit deeper for wet snow. If your board is warped in either direction, it's going to be a tricky tune (esp for freestyle). Toss it down on a hard surface and run paper on both sides to see if you're "true". Make sure you take the bindings off and any substantial stomp pad needs removal as well. See you guys in the hill...
  24. http://www.roadracinggirl.com/ http://www.thegteam.net/ http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=35022 Jess suffered a stroke over the weekend and is currently fighting to get back on her feet, board, motorcycle...... For the carving community, she is perhaps the poster child. Former hardbooter, freestyle diva, personal trainer, coach, wife and pro motorcycle racer. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jessicazalusky k
