  1. Interesting timing... I dropped off my Dragon last night for stone/edge. (I used to work at the Lazy H part time for 8 years, fwiw). They should have it done today and I'll post results. Stone grinding a board (esp freestyle) is REALLY REALLY difficult. It they need some coaching, I'll let Connie know. ;)
  2. Still not enough information, but I could take a guess. Typical issue (heel lift) with old Raichle boots. Your calf is taking the path of least resistance by trying to find a way out of the boot. Yes, the Booster strap will add slight rigidity...but that boot is a noodle to begin with. If I were in your situation, I'd consider a new liner (perhaps even a ZipFit) and popping 2-3 rivets in each boot. You might even be able to find additional tongues on ebay which you could epoxy onto the existing tongue. All theses were "par for the course" back in the old-day. While forward lean has it's place, its not to monkey with the flex. In your case, I'd keep them upright to avoid problems with the back of your calf. If you have a lower volume foot, I'd recommend some heel lifts (if you have room). k

    windows 7

I talked to Fin today...and he said that he's now willing to bring back replacement parts for my Bomber Toasters and that he is now saying that the elastomers built into the TD1 have no better dampening than the Bomber TD0 which was mounted direct to the board! Amazing! Who ever knew, during this time that.... Board shape would change Board material would change Tuning metrics would change Optimum stance angles would change Stance widths would change Waxes would change Course offset would change Course flow would change Event timing would change Stance height would change Boot dynamics would change Footbed technology would change Innerboots would change Manufacturing technology would change Competition would change Law suits would change to way manufacturers do business Some company go out of business Parts have been found to be problematic Coopetition would begin (Manufacturers become distributors) And I could literally write a list all night............. And to think we are now on TD 3.0. Wow. C'mon...bring back the TD0!!!! My point. We live in a dynamic world. Life evolves, products need to address the change. Esp in today's times...

    windows 7

Yes, been playing with 7 for some time as you might have guessed. Why talk about 7 when we should be celebrating 1.0's 25th birthday party!!! Good link above for the most part. k
  5. Thank you...I thought it was pretty cool too. CNN's use of Surface was also well used.
  6. Dude... Give a fellow carver credit where credit is due.. http://www.kekadesign.com/ http://www.startribune.com/business/16683191.html Best armour on the market. Granted, Dale wasn't on a board for long, but we did have him ripping carves for a few days many moons ago... K

    Permanent SBX courses

Boring...... They already ruined GS by adding PGS, so standard SBX courses would be the icing on the cake to ruin snowboard racing forever. Now, I would favor a standard Banked SL course, but not SBX. Totally different sports.
  8. FWIW, a $1 is a small price to pay for your privacy. IMO, I'd invest in a GPS system (Nuvi, for example) for directions and such. While Goog411 is a nice lil service, it's still part of a master plan to drive demand now, start profiling users and showing ads once you're hooked on the crack.... Would you be willing to listen to a 15 second commericial to access information? (Just curious)
  9. I searched and found a bit of info on headcams / helmetcams.....but figure technology has changed in the last few years. Looking for a way to video 1 hour of biking...perhaps 1.5. Is there an "all in one" system or would I be buying parts? (i.e. headcam attached to whatever video unit I want) Thanks for the input. K
  10. WHAT????????????? This is crazy. News to me...just made a few phone calls (break) It WILL be open this year (2008-2009), next year is still in doubt. So....the leading news anchor in STL and I will be having lesson sometime this winter (played hockey with his son, RIP). Hidden Valley is a real gem. Aside from hosting a USSA JR Team, it hosts hundred of schools each year. IMO, this is the real value add..esp for the city of STL. IMO, several things need to happen with Hidden Valley. 1) Create a tubing hill 2) Offer a XC ski trail 3) Build an outdoor ice rink 4) Have a fire pit with marshmellows outside 5) Sleigh rides 6) Offer Snowmobile rides 7) Have more big air contests 8) Get a new owner 9) Create a STL ski club 10) More events
  11. It's cool some of the photos were made with a Mac (Crispin's photos), although most were on a PC. Most wcm workflows contain a metadata stripper. So....well, cough, cough. You just never know if there was a reason for that. Carry on.
  12. Herje Haakonsen or Craig Kelly (RIP)
  13. I can't say I disagree with you as I would be upset myself. But, I can assure you that MSFT goes well beyond to fix problems that it didn't create. My Uncle Larry, who is 98, upgraded to Vista and Office 2007 last fall. He loved Vista and the new Office interface, but he was extremely frustrated with Picasa and even more frustrated with what he calls "disks" as he kept trying to re-write information to a CDR. Here's his blog, which is publishes direct from Office 2007. http://aristotle2007.blogspot.com/ k
  14. It's really all moot if you're not running Vista at the present time. My guess is that RC1's driver selection was a bit off as it appears several folks had to manually find the drivers...which is fairly easy under /windows/system32 Otherwise, my best guess is that you have software running off the USB drive when powered which is not Vista compatible. k
  15. Nope..I was racing Lance in Leadville. All was fine until around mile 75. Anyhoo. Re: Esc key. The functionality never disapeared. It was decided (which it why this took so long to trace down) to allow via Macro. So...go ahead and configure your Intellipoint 6.2 however you wish: Here's mine: If you need help, let me know... k
  16. C5 Golfer - still waiting on name of the manufacturer of the Thumb Drive you have. What I'd like to do is buy it from you. You tell me exactly what drive you need...and I'll send it to you. In return, put (3) files on your Thumb Drive - a txt file, a PDF file and a Jpeg file. Anything you want. Send it to me COD or I will send to a box postage paid. I will test it through my lab which contains each version of MSFT OS ever released on Certified Partner Hardware and I will also try it on every major Open Source and Apple Release. If there was a die leakage, I will (I won't...my friend at OnTrack will) crack open the Flash and tell you which cells were effected. I will share the full results on BOL as to the problem. As for the mouse, still digging up all the info. If you want to be an ass about it, I'll just stop working on it. Otherwise, once it gets resolved, I certainly hope you will give credit where it's due. Bob - The column fodder isn't going to change. It's cool you're sticking to what you think is best. We can revisit this thread in 5 years.
  17. I believe your word was emulate...which is not the strategy. The key message, "Because they (Apple) are good at providing an experience that is narrow but complete, while our commitment to choice often comes with some compromises to the end-to-end experience" It's not a matter of UI. That's easy. It's about total experience. Say....like in C5 Golfer's case. He's pissed b/c Vista didn't work with his USB drive and his Mouse if screwed with new drivers. Doesn't matter if it's a partner's bits that were to blame...MSFT suffers.
  18. .....I haven't seen one. Are you aware I used to work for Apple? Read this..it's pretty much spot on from what I'm hearing from old friends. http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2008/07/has-apple-bitte.html Much of the challenges a 90% market leader has is simply one of scale. So, it's easy to throw rocks at the big guy. Same holds true of discussing DBs between Oracle and MSFT. I'm more than happy to assist in individual problems, but I'd prefer to keep the thread factual rather than simply ancedotal comments. Much of the shift in the tech world has turned to Google and Apple's tactics, not MSFT.
  19. I'm not sure why you're running drivers from a disc to begin with. The latest media is available for download. As for your Thumb drive, what model? My guess is a quick search would either yield similar problems (and solutions). If not...perhaps you're one of a million people with that problem. Certainly it couldn't be because you're the only person with THAT thumb drive that corrupted it, right? Found the Intellipoint guy...have the formal answer soon. K
  20. What is interesting about this whole thread is the disconnect b/w reality and perception...along with the finger pointing at MSFT. Vista was build with backward compatibility and a wizard to run in prior modes, including OSs that are off support. Now...if the program doesn't work, it's probably b/c that developer wasn't certified (or skipped it) to begin with. Like as in the case with: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Berlind/?p=316 So, while you stomp your feet and say "it doesn't work" and it's all MSFT's fault, why aren't you contacting the developer? Read the Blogs on wired.com and see why all the Apple folks are now jumping ship. Once you allow X amount of development/partners, you'll ultimately lose control of the supply chain. Glad to hear that XP is working out, but still pains me that you're pointing the finger at the incorrect culprit.
  21. Post of the day!!!! Congrats.
  22. Okay..and let's say you brought me your computer and I was able to get all your applications working in 15 minutes? Who would be the idiot? You for not knowing how to use the PC or MSFT for not making it work out of the box with the 3.5 million programs that have been developed for the PC, many of which haven't gone through the genuine program? Either way..everybody loses.
  23. I'll check again... In the meantime, I did lead the witness above for several reasons: What would you think of Vista if you didn't know it was Vista? Well...you'll see A LOT of media coming your way in 2008/2009 as it's time the truth starts to come out. Apple...Open Source...etc. Perception is reality and maybe it's time that perception needs to change if reality might already be there. :) http://mojaveexperiment.com
