  1. Wow this is a really good way to demonstrate technique to newbies. I hope for more vids
  2. The Sierra still has a good base thanks to recent storms. Hopefully another one comes through and makes for some good Spring riding. I guess we're both doing pretty well out in the West coast
  3. What was it like for you? I'm looking for a quantitative review if you have a minute :) For example, "after X years of hardbootin you got y technique down but after SP you finally could do z, and even alpha and omega!" I'm trying to gauge to what levels my skill will improve. I've been doing the pencil drill and reaching for my boot cuff all season so angulation happens without thinking...most of the time. Turning dynamically is still hard and I have to really think about it. Cross under and cross throughs are sucky. Confidence levels go to the crapper in bad conditions. Think SP can address all of this in 3 days? Dammit I just want rip next season, especially if I buy the MVP pass.
  4. +1 on the new website, or at least a document with boards, specs, and prices. I'm a web developer so if you need to contract someone..I'm just saying :) I'm thinking about ordering something for next season if the funds are there. And I think I'll call it "the Stewie" - bent on world domination.
  5. Any recommendations on a bootfitter in OC? If I can fix my Le Mans with parts I just ordered I want to get the toebox blown out. Twice last weekend I had to quit in the middle of the run and take my feet out to relieve the pain
  6. With the MVP deal going on, this could turn out to be feasible. Coaching only rate is $500. As for lodging, well May is the beginning of my backpacking season anyway. I could find a place to pitch my tarptent
  7. What other benefits to MVP members get? I'm mostly interested in cheaper motel stays. I typically spend my nights in Bishop to save money. It would be nice to stay in Mammoth for the same rates.
  8. Hey, I need a sensei too! Put me down as tentative. The Man has been working me like a dog - just got home from work an hour ago. I'm drinking a cold German beer to ease the pain. Only a good carve will make me feel 100% better.
  9. http://www.mammothmountain.com/MountainActivities/Passes/ Also, from the FAQ: What is PassCash and what are its benefits? PassCash is cash loaded onto your season pass during the April Pass Sale and is good at any Mammoth Mountain operated business starting on June 20, 2009. It’s great for kids of all ages who don’t want to worry about carrying cash or credit cards when they’re on the hill. And if you load PassCash during the April pass sales period in $100 increments, we’ll throw in a 20% bonus (for instance if you buy $100, we’ll credit your pass with $120). But this promotion is available only at the time of purchase and available in $100 increments. And yes, you can use your pass cash to purchase your 10/11 pass, you sneaky devil.
  10. Nice vid guys! I like the extreme skidding ;)
  11. Oh boy, I'm 150lbs and leaning towards replacing my broken Le Mans with T225 and now you say the T325 works good for you? You're no help here :D Are you using BTS with them? I just rode all day at June with yellow springs and the Le Mans felt almost too wiggly so I'm afraid the 225 will be like that too.
  12. Glad you're hooked! I remember the first time my edge locked in like it was yesterday.
  13. Hero snow everywhere! I can't believe they closed off Gunsmoke. Some ski racers were practicing I ran into another hardbooter on an old Rossi. He lives near Crowley Lake and has never heard of BOL. I gave away my first BOL business card! Hopefully Thomas joins the forum. I told him about SNES too. I did one run on Silverado with Thomas and we spotted another carver. I'm not sure who it was but I yelled out "nice turns!" from the lift. If I remember correctly, the board had a red topsheet.
  14. If people ask and I only have a second to explain to them, I just refer to my deck as a carving board and tell them to look for a guy making big arcs. Gets the point across pretty quick.
  15. Looks like a good opportunity to level up a few skill levels. It's on the expensive e side though. Is this camp ever held earlier in the season?
  16. Thanks for the info, John. Hope we can ride together soon. Nothing like two noobs trying to do synchronized carving Didier, if you're at June on Sunday look for me on the J4 lift where Gunsmoke is. I wear an orange jacket so it's pretty easy to spot me.
  17. That's tragic, he's riding on the run that never ends now. Have fun safely everyone. I always wear a helmet, and wish my friends would too.
  18. I just got BTS and when I removed the lean adjusters to install them I noticed my boots didn't look right. I took a real nasty fall involving soumersalts and a broken ankle last year. Is it possible this accident broke my Deeluxe Le Mans? I'm only 150lbs but I guess that's multiplied in a train wreck lol. Do you think this can be repaired? If not then I have a legit reason to take advantage of the Spring sale In this picture the plastic looks like it was ripped apart.
  19. John, did you take a lesson with MJ? How'd it go?
  20. Gonna try and get up there for the June meetup. I'd love to get some critiques and polish up my technique. I want to be in top form for my Tahoe trip at the end of March
  21. If any of the SoCal carvers want to make a video like this I'm offering my HD camcorder Just one youtube video of basic carving technique and then progressively more powerful turns to showcase what we do can get new freeriders hooked easily. I myself was one of those freeriders who googled "snowboard carving tips" and found myself watching EC videos. That's how this addiction all started. 1) Norm 1 2) Norm 2 3) Bomber 4) EC 5) Jump carve 6) Switch jump carve a la CasperCarver
  22. Right handed Snowboard regular And some time ago I kickboxed orthodox but grappled favoring my right side
  23. http://www.snowprofessor.com/how-to-snowboard/intermediate-snowboard-lessons/how-to-carve-on-a-snowboard.html I found them on Twitter. They differentiate between skid and carve I think members on this forum can do a way better job though! http://twitter.com/HowToSnowboard/status/1283345324
  24. I believe my friends want to try out June and see how much it really 'sux.' I really, really love Gunsmoke. It's where I had my 2nd eureka carving moment with angulation and left trenches worth a damn (and a few pics). I figure if I keep going back to Gunsmoke I'll have more eureka moments and come back to Snow Summit a changed man I'm anxious to try out my new Madd 170 and being only 155lbs it might work in pow. Dunno if I want to change things up though! The trusty ATV was tearing up 30" of packed powder 2 weeks ago, probably my best day ever. If you do hit up June I'll be there on Sunday. If not, well, more room on the runs for me hehehe.
  25. Which hill will you be at? Check out these recent pics from Mammoth and the sucky mountain: http://forums.mammothmountain.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1936&st=0&sk=t&sd=a and a video: http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a48/pkerr100/?action=view&current=MOV00162.flv You can hear their sheer joy
