  1. Are the FR2s much better than the FR1s? Just want to know if it's worth the extra money.
  2. Wish I could make it :( Have a lot of fun and take pics
  3. I made the switch from soft to hard last month. My first 3 days were tough but I'm not a great softbooter to start with anyway. I took a 2 hour lesson with Flo Jayme in Tahoe this past Monday and it felt so good to finally leave a big trench! :D So I say take a lesson and expedite the learning process if you can.
  4. I'm taking a 2 hour lesson with Flo Jayme, you might spot him there too on Monday
  5. Check out the pics. Do you guys think I can do anything to fix it? Ice really gets into the tear. I'm afraid the rip is going to get worse and my new ATV will have permanent topsheet damage. I was thinking of duct taping it for the interim while I'm in Tahoe :o
  6. I'll be riding Squaw on 1/14 and Alpine Meadows on 1/15. If you see a newbie on hardboots don't be shy :) Feel free to give me tips if you spot me, it's my first season with an alpine setup
  7. http://5ones.com/volcom-to-shell-out-10k-for-kick-flip-on-a-surfboard/ Do we have any takers here? I've never surfed so I could use an explanation of why this is so difficult.
  8. Sent an email a few days ago for the OS2 plates. Lemme know if they're still available :)
  9. I just started riding hardboots this season and my first time out I had bindings set to 40 something. I can tell you I ate it HARD I moved it down to around 20 degrees and regained control. You can increase the angles each time you go and work your way up.
  10. Thx for the heads up guys. Looks like I won't be driving up Friday. That would've been a disaster! Looks like the local resorts here are expecting some snow too.
  11. Uh oh, do you think the weather will be too poor to drive up Friday night? My friends and I are planning to stay in Lee Vining. Aside from being snow junkies we're also photo junkies and need our sunrise photos of Mono Lake :)
  12. I'll be riding this Saturday, probably teaching my first-timer friends. I might try to do a half night session Friday though.
  13. Al, Don't waste your time with Mountain High. Big Bear is an "ok" resort if you want to make a quick trip. But honestly, if you're in the SoCal area I would suck it up and drive 6 hours north to Mammoth. You can stay in Bishop (1 hour south of Mammoth) at a motel for ~$70/night.
  14. This is my first season on my alpine setup and I bought everything on the classifieds here. So you get an idea of how much it could cost: $400 - Prior ATV 171 $125 - Deeluxe Le Mans boots $125 - TrenchDigger 1 -- Total: $650 Not too shabby! Btw, I love it so far :)
  15. I literally just got back to my cabin from a day at Mammoth. The runs weren't too crowded and I didn't see any other hardbooters. The snow was packed in and the winds were really blowing. Pretty good 2nd day on hardboots for me. I'm finally angulating a little and getting higher on that edge
  16. I was there on Sunday and the snow was pretty good. Traffic was horrendous. I left OC at 7am and didn't get onto the lift until 1:30pm! It was my first time hard booting too and I must say it was a painful experience. I will persist
  17. Damn, I wish California was just as fortunate :o
  18. Bah, Big Bear is closed today (Friday) due to weather. I woke up early for nothing
  19. I'm 90% sure of going to Snow Summit this Sunday with friends and coworkers. I have the day off from work tomorrow and if I can get my lazy butt out of bed, I can drive to Summit for some Friday riding. I'll be in Mammoth next weekend though (hopefully it'll be nicer than it is now
  20. So I followed instructions on that heat molding video the other night. After all was said and done, I put my foot back in w/o the spacers and toe cap and my toes feel like they're bunched together. There's no room to spread my toes out while my foot is in there either. It's not painful but definitely uncomfortable. I'm worried that it's going to hurt on the slopes. I don't want my first day in hardboots to be a bust :o Is it suppose to be this tight of a fit? I'm leaning towards molding them again with more toe spacers but await your sage advice :)
  21. Please let me know if you have a pair for me
  22. Yipee, we get excited about Santa Ana "winds" :D I probably won't be able to make it out to Summit until Sunday. Skidazzle is this coming weekend too. Go get your free pass ;)
  23. I'm on the lookout for used bindings and see pairs that are labeled as "large". Does that mean I can't use them on my mondo 24 boots? If I can, are there disadvantages I have to account for while riding? Thanks for helping the newbie :)
