  1. I saw Fin posted the announcement in the SES sticky. So who's getting one? http://priorsnowboards.com/boards_wcr_metal.php
  2. They say you'll always love your first like no other. I still love my first alpine board: Prior ATV 171
  3. I've never tried it on the slopes, but for sure it would be cumbersome. I attached a 5lb counter-weight for walk-around filming and it can get tiring. It might work well on a snowmobile though.
  4. Speed - what kind of photography will you be doing with a DSLR? It helps me give better advice. I started out with a Canon 300D when it was the first camera to break the $1k barrier. Now I shoot with my trusty and aging 20D. I haven't kept up with the latest gear but from talking to photo friends, the playing field has widened up a lot from just Canon and Nikon. Choice is good!
  5. I only have a consumer HD camcorder but I made my own steadycam following these directions: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/steadycam/ I for one would buy a good alpine instructional video. And if I can help in producing I totally would :)
  6. Great pics there! Also add me to the list of people here who are interested in EC technique
  7. Congrats on the Prior ATV! I bought my 171 last year and have had about 15 days on it since I switched to hardboots. I rode it once with softies and haven't gone back. It's been a great learning board and the wider waist allowed me to start with lower angles. Which topsheet did you get?
  8. Is there a history of animosity between bomber and EC stylists? Just curious.
  9. It was great meeting y'all! Even if it was for iceboarding And thanks Dennis!
  10. 2nd dibs. I'm 155lbs Also, I'm ok with either lunch time but post 1pm is preferable.
  11. All this chatter is making me excited to meet everyone. I hope you carving vets will give me a lot of pointers! I don't have any cool boards to share except for an Ultra Prime and the Prior ATV I normally ride on. 23.5cm waist might interest you bigger guys

I just saw that too! Had to leave a link to BOL in my comments I like this one above mine: "Wow..... I'm underwhelmed. Boards come side-cut so you can carve. The way that dude was all over the map I would shove his ass over if he came up in my line. Those flats are there to bomb not sideways gay all over the place. Next are they're going to try to release a "butters" board? Slash the white wave and all....but give me a break on that board."
  14. Just got back from June, what a long ride after a long day. Spent 6 hours teaching but I let it rip from 2:00 until 4 The snow was great for carving on J4. By the time I got there at 2 it was still groomed! I left a lot of trenches that I could see from the lift. Makes this newbie grin all the way up I didn't do any blacks but my friend said Deer Bowl and Schaztl was also perfect. I did one run on Chaparral where the terrain park is but it was kinda icy and crowded with jibbers. I went back to the J4 side for a few more runs before calling it a day. No lift lines, no crowds. June is becoming my resort of choice.
  15. So anyone here a BSG fanatic? The season premiere is tonight! I've been waiting a lifetime for this
  16. That's too bad, but I'll post conditions...with video It's suppose to be snowing next week to so cross your fingers.
  17. I just want you to know I had to read this from my cubicle lol great stuff though. Southern California is experiencing a heat wave right now. It feels more like mountain biking season :o
  18. Is that $400 shipped to US?
  19. Carvingchef- I'll be riding at June on Sunday but I'm spending morning until lunch going over basics with my friend. I’ll get her doing the Norm or at least leafing ASAP so I can get on the J4 chair runs and make some turns. Mammoth is sure to be crowded this weekend. I think you'll like the open runs at June more :)
  20. Alright guys, you have 1.5 weeks to lose weight, add muscle, and whiten teeth because I'm bringing my HD camcorder and digital SLR camera. Hope your technique is solid too, no pressure John (Hey John) and Jeff (zland) are local too, I'll pm them about this meetup.
  21. I think someone here should produce instructional videos demonstrating carve vs skarve vs skid. A lot of the alpine videos I see are more about the riders showing what they can do rather than being a teaching tool. A lot of great tips are passed around on these forums but having an expert break down the technique on video would be really awesome. It will be a great way to spread carving and reduce the amount of snow plowing on our groomers
  22. Close June? Say it ain't so! I just discovered it this season and was planning to skip Mammoth for the rest of it. :( Maybe Mammoth should have lowered their lift ticket prices instead of having raised them to $83 in these times
  23. Nice vid guys! When I finally ride with y'all I'll bring my HD camcorder and maybe my Canon 20D too
  24. Cool vid! Are skwals easy to learn for someone who's never skied?
