  1. Best way to fall is tuck and roll. Best way to get the feel of boards for a first timer, get some one in boots/shoes, down hill from you and that person stands facing you, you are facing them, hold hands and they pull you down hill as you apply braking edge and get used to it. Go left and right, after a short time, that person stands to your side and only holds one hand. You will get the feel of this quickly, then practice this alone, a lot. It is called falling leaf drill. After some time, you will be doing a left turn , then a right, then eventually link a turn. There is your lesson. This all starts on the bunny hill.
  2. In 2000 , I did my first year of approx. 35 days on soft boots, and was carving with softs at the end of the season. All of the following years have been on hardboots/alpineboard. After that first year on soft, there still was a learn curve for me, to go to hardboots/alpineboard. Am glad I did it this way, and am not sure I would want to start day one boarding on hardboots. In the very least, try some rental or borrow softboot gear for your first day on a board, to get a better idea of what you are in for. It is never too late, Know a guy who skied a lot and started hardboots/alpineboard at 64 and still rips at 84.
  3. Possible interest, making phone calls, to find out, r
  4. Any recent snow carve condition report from Loon?, meaning how is the carve after the weekend rain and warmth, and the now pending freeze. Is it carve snow or boiler plate? Maybe time to bring the MK for an early season ice test.
  5. at 7 inches wide, that is 18cm, so am guessing it is a FC1
  6. Had 2 inches snow last night, presently misting rain at i93 exit 28
  7. Rogers in Lincoln, NH. Ask for Josh, Have known him for years, he knows the machine and all the adjustments/tricks aka pressure point adjustments to get a nice even base grind. I do my own edges. Josh says there is another guy there, just as good, have not met or dealt with him yet him yet. Either way, leave a note taped to board , Josh only tune.
  8. Wednesday was good snow at loon, the bottom 1/4 is a bit firm but still is snow, the top 3/4's is good carve snow, still firm packed powder, has not warmed at all yet, and good edge hold on the base underneath. Worth the trip
  9. Thanks Daveo, looks like it is good for me, I had been looking for a stiffer set! Shred, you have mail
  10. Just checked my boots, and again, yes my tongues say same, 7-9.5 M
  11. Have seen newbies trying hardboots/alpine board set going duck. It is probably what they are used to on softies, so why not...?
  12. 2nd in line , If daveo backs out. daveo, It looks like, in the picture 7-9.5M , I have 9.5 so is good to go for me.
  13. He is back answering his mail now, but Shred, you said previously that one beastrider has is the Q5, and not the one that you want, either way , if you need it, beast has replied to me that he can take a picture of the # easily. r
  14. Just my opinion, But I do not think you can put a 27.5 or 28 liner into a 27 mondo boot. The absolute proof of the liner size would be to pull the liner out, there is a number on the Full Tilt liner, get a picture of it. And I also believe Full tilt liners come in odd sizes, ex: 25.5 , 26.5, 27.5 or it may read, 255, 265, 275
  15. Many people live in town or simply walk to the Mt and someone picks them up , they get rides home too. Many of these folk get 100+ days.
  16. The Madd 158 Org arrived safely to its new home. Jack is good to deal with.
  17. I hear you on your finger sizing style. IMO, I go with a liner that exactly fits my foot length in centimeters. Measure both your feet, heel to longest toe and go with that liner size. There are high volume liners and low volume liners, so High volume liner describes the liner and your foot may be a bit small for its length, vice versa, low volume liner for a foot that is a bit large for its length. Or standard liner, in the middle, medium volume. I go with the Power Wrap as there are no tongue seams, to bother my metatarsals, I tried high end ski boot liners and loved them, but could not , would not handle any future bone spurs.

  19. Made a full carbon FC board to see what it would ride like. 2 layers of 4 ounce 0/90 degree on top , same 2 layers on bottom. It was extremely hyper, others rode it and said the same. You first needed to be in shape to ride it, and second, you needed to be on top of your game at all times when riding it. That is probably why glass is put in with the carbon or vice versa, to tame it down a bit.
