  1. General consensis is that it's not really a big issue till it starts throwing you off... Which I'm a little surprised but relieved to hear....It doesn't swim at all... if anything it's quite mellow at speed (Could be the detuning doing that too) It gets up to a decent speed with the 11.79 scr, but the 178 I have is on another level... Thanks again Billy... Much appreciated! Steve
  2. Never thought of it like that....... I occasionally bomb runs going dead flat in my psycho tuck speed position...... usually stop when my eyes start to water under my goggles!!! I can always use more bite in the tail!!! Thanks!! Steve
  3. Got a question for you guys/gals out there... I have a board that is a little edge high towards the tail... (about 350mm from the rear binding to the tail) it's a FP 164 It's like .030" or 0.75 mm when measured with a true bar....the rest of the board is dead flat from the back of the rear binding to the nose. Just wondering if it's anything to worry about yet I've been riding it for two seasons and only just noticed it when tuning it after my trip from JH... How deep does the warping have to get before It impacts my ride?? I've never checked this before and I thought it only happened to boards that get ridden lots of days in a season.... Any thoughts?? Thanks again Steve
  4. The pleasure was all mine.... the tiny nicks in the topsheet came out with a little light filing and she looks brand new now!!! Can't wait to rail this one.... It's one stiff mother too.... stiffer than the R-17!!! It's gonna be a blast for sure.... If I can stay away from killing innocent people on the mountains!!! BTW Thanks Derf.... Complete explanation!!! Good work!! Steve
  5. Cheers Billy! Yeah it needs a brush!!!
  6. Hey Guys, Just bought another board... It's a Factory Prime 178-200s not sure on the year but its a black topsheet with a lime green patch around the nose. I'm thinking 2001-2002??? All for $102.50 AUD here on Ebay Aus!!!! Bargain!!!! It's in really good condition too... It's used for maybe 4-5 days max and still has plenty of camber (about 11mm) stiff as all hell but my question is about the grind pattern that was used on the base I've never seen this pattern used (come to think of it I've never seen a stone grinder here in Australia!!!!) Here are some pics.... so if anyone recognises it (and knows the year model)please let me know cos I'm curious...... Sorry for the low res pics but figured taking a pic of the nose protector would show the pattern better! Thanks Steve
  7. It's a 99 model... The 164 has a 11.79 scr.... Klug's still got a few for $160.. I bought one and it's quite a nice deck for the price.... Steve
  8. Makes sense.... I really don't like wide stances.. they don't feel right to me... (I'm talking freeriding here) when watching others with really wide stances it just doesn't look right.... I guess it's a case of trial and error and what feels most right for you..... Hmmmmm .... Any racers out there wanna add to this topic??? Steve
  9. Pretty good question... I'd be very interested in what people have to say on this... I run very tight stances on my alpine boards...about 17" or 430mm(reference stance on my FP's and very tight on my freeriders.... basically the closest the inserts will allow... only have a bit of trouble going very slow on the alpine boards once I get up to speed I'm railing it The freeriders I can do anything on... I'm 5'11" about 180lbs So yeah please guys throw in your 2c Steve
  10. That's gotta be a typo for sure.... (I hope for the buyers sake!!!) Steve
  11. Dennis ALWAYS uses upper case.....!!!
  12. Nice pic Tim!!! And you remembered to smile!!!! Steve
  13. It's funny you brought this up.... Our local council fines people for not picking up after our dogs.... Having said that, I have a weird dog....when taking him for a walk he doesn't go. he'll save it till he gets home... that's like a 1-2 hr walk... only on a few occasions has he urinated... I'm not sure why he does this maybe because we usually power walk and don't stop for a break... But I've heard of other Husky owners experiencing this phenomena...in particular one guy that raced his Dogs... A lot of the races he attended were in the middle of state forests and places like that and the resident Vet said that he diddn't feel comfortable doing it there sooo yeah he thought up a rather interesting way to get his pooches to take a dump. it's pretty gross but it worked..... Back to the question... if need be I'd pick it up and dispose of it along the way in one of the many trash cans around the area where I walk.... My bags aren't transparent so passers by won't know what I'm carrying. I just think how irritating it was when I stepped in doggy do and I always say what goes around comes around!!!! Steve
  14. I gotta start by saying I'm a huge dog lover!! I like cats too but doggies are where it's at... They are a lot more intelligent than most people believe all you gotta do is tap into the technique that makes then keen to learn... get them motivated... I have a Siberian Husky and the stuff that he does blows all my friends away... though search and rescue is 10 levels above the "cutie pie tricks" thing... Good stuff.... Makes you proud doesn't it....?!! I think all people should be more active in training their pooches... then there wouldn't be so many abandoned and neglected animals every year:( Great stuff Justin!! Hope he does well!!!! Steve
  15. Whoa!! I got 27.... and I thought I was quite balanced...... oh well introverted weirdo for me then.... Hmmmm
  16. Guys & Girls Thankyou sooo much for this thread... I haven't laughed this hard for years!!! This sooooo has to be part of The Almanac!!!!!
  17. I always take the bindings off when not in use... i use a fine permanent marker to mark ALL my binding positions (Angle, Setback, which holes in the discs etc) And I store them on a special rack topsheet down supported only by the nose and tail to preserve the natural camber of the boards....lay a good thick summer wax on the base and edges to protect from corrosion, also tuck them away in special sleeves so they are at least protected from humidity, dust, etc... Can't hurt them doing this.... I can see why leaving the bindings on during summer can increase binding suck... Steve
  18. Ha Ha me toooooooooo:barf: !!!!!!!!!!!! Zoltan... you get my vote for best breakage of this season!!!! Damn that's gotta hurt!! good thing it didn't break through the skin during the tumble... Keep your spirits up Champ... you'll be up and around in no time... Wishing you a speedy and pain free recovery!! Steve
  19. Good lookin' top sheet...... any idea what they'll be going for $$wise???
  20. I once did a very silly thing years ago.... a friend was taking a group ski lesson with 5 others.... they were in a line facing the instructor who was about 10 metres away across the fall line from them...they were about half way down a green run after a very good snowfall the night before... Being the reckless knuckle dragging soft booter back then (Before I saw the Light) I straightlined toward them and layed a skiddy carve between them and the instructor spraying all the students with my rooster tail..... looked back after straightening out and 4 of them had fallen over.... Although no surprise.. the instructor wasn't impressed and had the ski patrol come after me.... He had a very stern word with me and I came soooo close to having my weekly pass pulled...... It was funny at the time but looking back it was dumb... what if I lost that edge, chattered out and slid right into these poor people...... Now.... Meaty gate practice is a different thing altogether!!!!
  21. Maybe they were sisters??!!! Paris Hilton's Chihuaha has the WTF?? look....so would I, hanging around her..
