  1. X 2... I sold my very first board a few years ago now... and I have regretted it ever since.... That old Avalanche taught me how to ride
  2. I was thinking of doing this with my Hard shells... But liners for ski boots... well the good ones anyways are hideously expensive... good stuff
  3. The only thing I can think of was even firm pressure would dull a file..Just use enough to keep the file/guide in alignment... Also only file in the direction of the teeth... if you file the correct way.. the teeth will shave the metal edge but NEVER drag it backwards cos' that ruins the file's teeth..... That's the only two things that I could imagine would dull a file provided you do clean the teeth out properly with a file card.
  4. I hope no one was injured..... I thank the Big Guy Above for not having these conditions here in Australia... at my doorstep. Imagine the sheer panic of being the driver completely out of contol at a slow speed just sliding.. As for the guy with the foot on the gas... maybe he thought that he could control it more by muscling the car into submission... Just quietly... I would have stayed at home..... When I drive on snow/ice here in our snow fields I always have chains and I absolutely crawl... less than 25km/h... I once drove a minivan (toyota tarago) with a trailer in very poor conditions and we were doing 5km/h using the handbrake to help turn corners... After doing 3 advanced driving courses i improvised... got all my passengers home safely.. without a mark on the car...... or anyone elses for that matter.. Wouldn't do that again in a hurry...
  5.   That's what I was thinking too... wonder what speed she got to after release.... You sooooo don't want a harness failure in that.. hmmmmm wonder how far a 180lb human would soar if they weren't strapped in..???
  6. It's when your upright that the twisting will be doing the damage... Happens to 99% of us... after so many months not riding and all of the sudden you're working muscles you haven't used for a while.... I found if there is no swelling use heat... if there is swelling use ice.. Best see a doctor or Physiotherapist to see where the problem is... Physio's helped mine so much it's ridiculous... I don't get pain anymore after I ride... even after a solid 10 days... well unless I fall over and hit something.....:o
  7. I had this problem years ago from racing BMX.. I was "pinching" the cyatic (SP?) nerve. Bastard thing hurt like hell... puts you well and truly in bed unable to move..... It's in the lower back either side of the spine (Where it hurts anyways.) I found anti inflammatory meds to help... but how I stopped it was doing gentle situps... Or crunches.. Much lower.. a lot less stress on your back too... Sorry to say but my doc said it to me... your back is as strong and your front.. Work those tummy muscles...!!!
  8. Mother Of God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! here I was thinking they were gonna launch this girl into a lake... or ocean or something... How nuts is that!!!!! I'd do it in a heart beat!!!! How upset would you feel if you just had lunch??!!!!
  9. Oh Dear...... Ram Rod...
  10. At least they would respond!!!
  11. Don't forget to post pictures... Blood and Gore is gooooood!!!
  12. Gotta give him credit for trying... And credit to you for trying to convert someone into the sport..!!! My soft booting friends always pay out on me.... But when there is Ice.. or we practice gates... All I notice is sudden silence......
  13. Hey Dr D, How good would you rate the performance/strength of the race step ins compared to the race plates (The high range binding not the lower end crap!) I just scored some brand new step in's (With the cam over side lever thing on the side of the heel block ) and was thinking of using them on the back foot .. BTW my Race Plates are 2003 I think.. Red Plastic
  14. Was at my Local mountain, Thredbo... Some knuckle dragging park monkey in the lift line with all his friends (Equally mindless) Yells out.... "Duuuuude... how old school is that thing??? Whilst pointing at my board... I looked down at my 5 day old deck and then looked at his 2005 model Burton Custom and calmly said.... "Duuuuuuuuuude.... this board is newer than your's........ Friends I was with just laughed at him.... Kinda took the smirk off his head... Another time at Hotham whilst bombing the hell out of this run (Vanity run mind you, under a quad chair... Quite hard/icy conditions I'd straight line this run... then when I had heaps of speed I'd aggressively do a series of cross through turns... got some cheers from the chair above, and when I slowed down near the end of the run... two instructors came over and gave me a compliment on my carving... Said it was the best thing they'd seen for years... Spent 30min talking carving with them... (Hey I always try to convert people) It's great when you hear stuff like that.....
  15. Length helps.... But if you can nail heelsides strongly on the shorter board... you can imagine how monumental your heelsides will be on the long boards...
  16. A few seasons ago, The snow was magnificent (For Australia anyways) Lots of pow pow... Decided to go out freeriding with my softboot buddies... Found a really nice natural kicker that didn't need heaps of speed but just gently "popped" you into the air... The hang time was great felt like ages.. Anyway as one of the more elder riders I was pulling methods all kinds of grabs, 180's 360's 540's etc etc etc....so I decide to pull a backflip....(Now I have done them before Both on snowboards and BMX) and hit the kicker with a teeny bit too much speed... overrotated and landed in very packed snow... (which might as well have been ice) with the tip of my tailbone. result.. I broke my tailbone... So bad in fact it stayed in it's broken position (Basically pointing straight down) I had to have surgery to have that repaired.... Nice scar.... I call it my Butt crack extension!!! Most painful Bastard of an injury I've ever had in any sport (BMX freestyle, BMX racing, Road cycling, MTB's and snowboarding) I have never felt such pain... seen such swelling, or stuffed that much snow down the back of my pants................ ever........! I'm much smarter now:smashfrea
  17. Heya Tim! I have a pair of BRAND NEW Burton Furnace liners in 29.5 mondo from a pair of boots I bought to use for spare parts.. I'm a 27.5 - 28 mondo size their red and black.. completely unused!! If you're interested just pay the shipping to the USA... Shouldn't be more than about $30 AUD All I ask in return is a slight favour... It won't cost you... all I need is a bit of your time... Like I said if your interested drop me an email and I can explain what I mean... Cheers
  18. You can get most of the supplies at a sign writing place... I have used both the softer vinyl and the tougher polyester self adhesive stuff.. the latter has better colours... I have one board covered in a chrome topsheet.. looks really cool.... gets heaps of comments... They have brushed aluminium... wood grain all kinds of stuff.... not that expensive either... just have to clean and apply very carefully......using a squeegie and lots of water.... I use clear vinyl (Signwriters vinyl is thicker than any other stuff you find hence higher quality.....) to cover my other boards to protect them from lift line SPORES scratching the top sheet... If you are looking for designs (Pictures/graphics... ) them the board tattoo place has some wicked stuff too.....
  19. I run 1* edge and 1* base..... Keep them ultra sharp with a fine grade stone I also detune my nose about 50mm... very slightly and my tail about 20mm also very slightly... The detuning is probably more psychological as it's hard to see with a naked eye...... I'm far from a pro carver.... For ice is your edges Have to be sharp!!!!! I find that once you get your angles right touching them up with a stone keeps them sharp for ages.....
  20. If it's delaminating you can use a coin and lightly tap the area...to see what extent your delam is... you'll hear the change in pitch when you tap - Delam is hollow... get a marker and draw where you follow the potential delam area... Could be that the inserts are delaminating from the core.... Get Ye to a very good repair shop.....
  21. X 2 ... Make mine ......253cm!!!!! HA:biggthump Hmmmm titanal.... hmmmmm custom graphics...... Oooops getting carried away!!!!
  22.   Good way to disarm a potential flaming!!!! Good work guys...!!!
  23. Just out of curiosity... Has anyone ever fabricated their own bails for Burton Race Plates?? I'm considering fabricating my own... (being in the aircraft industry makes it a little easier) I haven't broken any ..... YET!!! Anyone by any chance have some titanium bails they wanna sell??? No really I'm serious..:D I have two new race plate sets... i'm trying to buy spare bails 2 x heel and 2 x toe bails (4 In total) to keep some spares should the unfortunate happen... (Please no flaming.. I love the flexy design and they prove to be great for racing) From Klug riding.. I have a friends address in TX to send to but with Klug's new site it picks up that the shipping address and card's address are different...(I live in Sydney Australia) The old site allowed it but things have changed Chris told me he'd run it through manually but after two months of trying and 4 attempts at it I'm losing faith. They won't reply to my emails now... So Mr Boostertwo... Wanna part with two toe bails and two heel bails made from titanium??? PLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAASE!!!!!! name your price if you'd consider shipping to Sydney Australia... paypal loaded or I can send International money order!!
  24.     Here I was thinking.... oh never mind.... Nice pic in front of the fireplace.... She looks good in full view of everyone...
