  1. Sorry to hear about your wrist... but from expericence... don't be tempted to go out again... it won't take much to break it again... As for the fist thing... I've been doing that for years and it definitely saves you from breaking wrists... Forearms are the best way to fall but like Trikerdad said it was real sudden... unfortunately when it happens so fast you can't react then you gotta take what comes..... better than smashing your face though.... I wish you a speedy recovery!!!
  2. I have the magazine article where Darren appeared holding that same board.. It's got the record speed scrawled on the top sheet in exactly the same spot.. And it's a 216cm 50 metre sidecut Cocoon ... Where did you see the Renntiger?? i must've missed something somewhere..... it's the same board in the mag as it is in the post here at BOL...... hmmmm were Renntigers around in 96-97???
  3. I didn't do a search for that board... i still have the magazine where he appeared though.... I'll be damned doing anything like that.... That's just plain insane...be great to watch though. My fear glands are fully developed at 32 years of age....
  4. Yeah I have that same feature from my flat feet.... funny... I tried a pair of Burton Fires and they felt way too small....at 27.5 Got some custom footbeds... and hey presto.... Perfection!!! I use Burton Furnaces at 28.5 but did quite a bit of mods to the outside of the liner...once they packed out, like some serious heel work using the "V" type adhesive foam... another shim under the liner and they have held my feet tight for years.. + they feel very comfy with no heel lift.... My feet are flat with a very wide toe area.. the 28.5's feel spot on..
  5. Bummer I needed the cables.... thanks anyways...
  6. I remember an Aussie speed rider from around 1997 -1998 (Darren Powell) that had a 216cm Coccoon with a 50 metre side cut radius.. 18cm waist (his gear consisted of Burton Furnace boots 1998 models, Burton Race Plates also 1998 models.) and he also ran a small fairing on his back leg to help with the aerodynamics.... At the time he held the world record at 196.937 km/h... Basically a point and shoot board... man you gotta have big coljones to do those speeds he had.. BTW whats the world speed record on a snowboard now in 2007??? We are talking plain bomb down a mountain speed... not assisted by any other means except gravity... though if anyone knows of someone with their rocket assisted factory prime doing mach 0.9+ ... pics would surely rock!! LOL
  7. Would you ship to Sydney Australia?? Post code 2145 via Airmail.. I'd like two instep cables plus the two buckles to suit them... I attached thie pics of what I mean... How much would you like for them?? I'd offer you $20 USD plus the shipping cost..Prob end up around the $30 US If that isn't enough... name your price..... i have an old pair of furnaces that need new instep assemblies..... Paypal loaded.. Cheers
  8. I didn't know that... well you learn something every day! :o
  9. That's totally wrong..... but funny!!!
  10. Ha... yes the design can be easily modified when the quiver expands!! Someone say custom 185 Coiler??? Main thing is that they sit there base side up with the camber "drooping down" whilst the nose and tail are the only things supporting the boards weight.... I think soon it'll be another place to hang the washing out to dry on a rainy day!! Multiple uses!!! I too didn't get covers for my freeride decks... I did with the Alpine ones.. I have a friend in a boardshop here in Sydney that had a few spares he was going to throw out so i pillaged them.....
  11. Good stuff Shrederjen... i know you're coming.. i think Tim Tuthill is too but he's away at the moment so he should know in the next week or so.. I'm there from Sat night till friday morning!! Night boarding!!! Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! I can't wait.....
  12. That means "g" strings around the right way!!!! otherwise.... well you get the idea!
  13. Ok.... From the 24th February,to the 2nd of March 2007 The International Airlines Ski Federation (IASF) is has organised our (Airline employees) 47th Annual World Airline Ski Championships..(WASC) As well as our skiing brethren.. carvers/racers from around the world are going to converge on JH in the Fair State of Wyoming for 1 solid week of Mayhem... This is going to be my First Ever trip to the US of A and MAN am I looking forward to it:D :D :D :D Last year it was held in Schladming Austria.. (Blue Tomato is a great way to spend ALL your money BTW) There was at the very least 30 carvers both male and female from around the globe. This trend I hope is blown away as I'm hoping many... many carvers from the States come to this event as it's going to be huge to say the least! So my BOL friends... I sincerely hope to see a few of you there. So far I know two BOL members that are going and I hope more of you can make the trip. It would totally rock to be able to share some runs and a "few" drinks afterwards! I'll be staying at the Snow King Resort with the Australian Team, Amongst others..(I'll prolly be the only Aussie carver too... (again!!) Just look for the rider with the cammo gear, black helmet and white spy goggles and the big dumb grin.. And if you do.....yell out "Steve !!!!!!!!!!!!!" Pray for snow!! I know I am!!
  14. From what I've read here and elsewhere I think it's cos' they're too good... Stiff and very direct...in the way they transfer power! Most racers like a bit of flex in the interface.... I love the flex in my bindings (Burton Race) but have never tried the TD2's or Cateks... But i will.....
  15. Check this out BOL people... Sorry but I gotta show this fantastic piece of work off.... I have 4 boards.. 2 freeriders and 2 Alpine boards at the moment.. They are kept at my parents house and my dad being a retired carpenter decided to start a small project... Seeing as I was using a two seater sofa to store my boards during the off season...(Between the two armrests) He curiously asked for some measurements of my decks... Basically a measurement of their length along the boards between the nose and tail before they upturn (Effective edge) I came home from work and lo and behold.......... All it cost in timber was about $22 AUD and the foam pipe insulation tube was $5 a metre..... How cool is that... The wood in the insulation is just some broom handle that he cut down to length. My children have a place to sleep now!!! Note: they're spaced unevenly top to bottom as the boards vary in length.. They are all stored in the zipper plastic bag they came with.... At the bottom is the 155 freerider (Burton Iguchi /Rockboard -Black Bag) 2nd from bottom is the 160 freerider (Burton 2005 Custom X -White Bag) above that is my 164 FP and up top is my 178 R-17.. Thought I'd share this with you all as I'm totally blown away with this mental piece of art!! I still have to sand it and varnish it to finish it off though.... Talk about preserving the natural camber of my decks!!!!! there isn't any twist or anything... It's all dead level!!! :D
  16. This place rocks when it comes to combined knowledge!! There is sooooo much to learn about this sport and all of it's equipment!!!
  17. Hmmmmmm I thought the clear plastic bindings got recalled by Burton?? Not sure which year that was though.... Jeeez.. I paid $165 for a complete set of brand spanking new ones from 02-03! Came with ALL the hardware too... I recently had an Auction for a GReddy Turbo timer... Had a bid start price of $70.... Buy it now for $90... Two guys got carried away and endind up letting it go for just under $120 Go figure...
  18. I too love Breitling watches... But my absolute favourite are Tag Heuer... they are stunning ... Not quite as expensive as the other marques...
  19. From what I've read and heard.. I think you're spot on with that one I actually thought the Speed took over from the Ultra Prime... But having said that... the speed was avaliable in quite long lengths whereas the UP was only avaliable in two lengths.. I'm talking 98-99 model years.... I only have the catalogues up to 99.... and Alpine boards disapeared out of Aus in 2000 completely..
  20. That's the only thing I hate about fresh snow.. Digging the car out!!!:(
  21. Meeeee Toooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
  22. I have the R-17 178 200s.... I find it slightly stiffer than the 98-99 FP's... they ride quite similar though.. BUT.. The FP's i own are smaller in size and hence the stiffness would be different in various lengths..... The only thing I hate about them is the lack of a tail protector.. But they ride brilliantly... I love mine...
  23. Heavy pressure will wear them out quicker.. really heavy pressure will kill them in no time... Worse still if you retrace your movement along the edge by going backwards that actually takes off the tops of the file's teeth..... As long as you maintain enough pressure to keep the file guide in the right position/alignment that's all you have to worry about... let the file do all the work..... On a side note though... those special files aren't cheap... I have a file like that and it's stoooopdly expensive... Just sweep the card in the direction of the teeth on the file...you should be able to see how the card cleans the file.... If your edges are sharp and at the angles you want... you can simply use a small diamond stone to "touch up" your edges from now on... I haven't used a file on any of my decks for ages as I touch them up after a couple of days riding......
  24. Hey Jack! These gold bails wouldn't by any chance be titanium would they? Quick way to tell is if they are Ti, they would scratch glass like a diamond.... Just thought I'd ask as I didn't know Burton made gold bails so they could be kinda special.... Thought I'd ask
