  1. I tweaked my knee really bad last season and I think it will take another year for it to be all the way back. I'm up for a new freeride board this year and was thinking about going bigger than my usual 164 to a 170 or so. Would this help or hurt my knee? It's the front knee.
  2. I went to A basin for the first time this year and loved it. Mountain is so wide open and you can rip some nice carves. Each mountain has it's own special qualities. I would say Beaver Creek for best wide open carving and the vastness of Vail's bowls is great.
  3. That's awesome, I'm waiting for reviews on the Flagship and mountain twin.
  4. So I was interested in purchasing this thing called a gyro board- only problem is they're made in Australia and cost over 400 bucks. So today I tried this Fitter First soft board- it's amazing. Unlike the usual balance boards, you can never find a point of stability, it shifts all over the place, even horizontally. http://www.fitter1.com/Catalog/Items/WBSB.aspx
  5. That was awesome, looks really fun. God help you if you don't clear the flat though
  6. I would get something with a mellow flex since you're only using it for powder days. Maybe even get some low end Burtons for less than $200, they're still a good product.
  7. I think the softboot discussions should be allowed to stay in the main carving community forum so they get as much exposure as possible. If I ask a soft boot related question, I want as many members' feedback as possible and don't think I'll get that in a softboot only forum. Having said that, if it's the only alternative to having softboot topics relegated to the off-topic forum, I'm all for it. I do think there should be a BX/freeride/soft boot equipment review forum, definitely.
  8. Thanks for info John, how do you like them as a freeride/carve binding?
  9. I think what's interesting is Keystone is developing a really bad rep as far as being overly strict when it comes to marking tickets, etc. Looking around other message boards, a lot of people have the same complaints.
  10. Does anyone have experience with Union bindings? Specifically the Force SL's.
  11. I was in lift line the other day and couldn't believe when I saw a pair of the old style skis. They looked like XC skis.
  12. You guys who ski- have the shaped skis made it more fun that the old style ones? I skied for 5 years before giving it up for riding. The new skis look fun as hell though.
  13. Seriously, it would be fun to see a snowboarder do a straight air off off that.
  14. Buell, which rockered boards have you tried? I'm still up in the air as to if I could use one for freeride/carving.
  15. A few people has asked what the OP was asking, which is me. I was asking if a snowboarder could do the DH course flat out and how the time would compare to the skiier's.
  16. I feel bad about the way Burton cut them but don't see anything special about their boards.
  17. Watching the Olympics- can snowboards do something like the downhill course? What would the time comparison be? I'm asking because I wonder why there aren't more alpine events for snowboards. I think I remember there being a GS at Nagano?
  18. My T6 is the 64W version, feels perfect size wise, I guess a few mm's narrower would be good. Got any good stories regarding the T6 and it's errr, harsh qualities? On smooth snow it kicks ass but holy **** on anything resembling crud, it's like a race car on a pothole filled road.
  19. What's your height/weight again? I'm 6'0 about 175 and anything less than 164/165 feels too small. I demoed a Burotn custom 162 a couple years ago- I had fun but it just felt too small, like it was built for someone smaller.
  20. Thanks SVR . The Jones boards definitely do look nice so will be checking em out more seriously, would like to see a review of them too. Also will check out Donek and MFR.
  21. SVR I'd been checking out the new Jones boards too. Only downside for me is the rocker but maybe I shouldn't be worried about that?
  22. I'm surprised the Oxess boards are so good because they certainly don't look impressive. You just have that carbon topsheet, they sort of look shoddy.
