  1. Well, I am currently trying to establish whether I am depressed because the SES is over or still jetlagged. In any case I feel like s.....t!!!!
  2. It seems that many people are reading this but nobody responds!!! So let me be the first. I wish I could say that Max does not know what he is talking about. That he he is just one of those people that like to complain. Unfortunately I have to agree with Max 100%. It is difficult when you bring people along with you and you have to justify to them what they are paying for and especially when they are not getting their money's worth. By no means I am trying to trash the event or complain about it. In my opinion I am just stating the obvious and please I would like to have someone argue that the food at the banquet was good and the parties were great etc. i know how difficult it is to organise the event and I really appreciate the effort that Michelle and Fin go through each year. It seems however, and please correct me if I am wrong, that every passing year there is a steady decrease of quality. 2 years ago we had a dvd and a T-shirt. Since last year none of these is even mentioned but at least the food at the banquet was decent. Not that a T-shirt is that important but overall the impression is that the event is getting cheaper. Personally just being in Aspen makes up for everything. But what happens to the rest of the group? Next year when I will ask for people to pay for a SES package what will their responce be???? Hopefully this thread can be viewed as constructive critisism and will be taken into account for next year.
  3. He, he, would a seminar with me in a wig and a thong make any difference?? or most probably would turn people totaly offfff!!!!
  4. As allways Sean did an amazing job taking those pictures!!!! Nothing better than have something to show for, after 9 days of riding in Colorado.
  5. This year I did a clinic that mainly had to do with EC turns. We had a good group that hopefully got a few tips out of it. The reason for showing that particular aspect of carving was my impression that people would be interested in learning it and also taking into account that there would be a beginner clinic running. If I knew that there was a need for a begginer clinic I would gladly do it. In fact for next year based on what's been written in that thread I can put together a 2 day begginer clinic during SES. One day will be theory in the form of a seminar with drawings, photos, diagrams, explaining the basics of carving and the next day will be on-piste practice. Of course I am open to any suggestion that anyone may have that will make SES a better begginer experience.
  6. First of all this is one of the best threads that have been posted in a while. I agree with most. EC is a technique not a goal. If it was a goal as soon as you mastered it you would have to do something else since you can't go any lower. The truth however is that EC is impressive as hell. Especially to spectators who are not involved in carving. Moreover EC was a huge push to the sport of alpine snowboarding bringing more people in. And if there will ever be a revival of alpine snowboarding, EC was/is a big contributor.
  7. Ideally yes. That however does not mean that you won't get something out of it. You will get all the help and tips that you need. Let's just hope the wheather is on our side. If not we will talk on the day of the clinic and see if we can postpone. See you all soooooooooooooooooooooooon!!!
  8. Someone once said that hardbooters are like communists they get less by the year but they will never go extinct. It is interesting however that we get to see new companies pop up every year with alpine gear and if we look at other sports everything tends run in circles. Windsurfing for example started mainly with slalom. Then wave riding was the hype. Lately slalom came back and companies started to develop boards and sails accordingly. People get bored doing one thing and need something new. The most important thing is that all the manufacturers that are involved with the production of alpine boards are mainly doing it because they love it and not because they can make lots of $$$. And that is what's keeping the sport pure.
  9. To the participants of SES 2009. On February 11, G-FORCE is going to conduct a clinic for those who are interested in Eurocarving. The duration of the clinic will be about 2 hours and we are planning to stay on the upper part of the Highlands taking the Cloud Nine chair lift and going down the Gunbarell. If anyone suggests otherwise please do so. People that are interested in participating please reply to this thread so we can get an idea of the number of participants and their level of riding.
  10. that is definetly a must!!!! I 've been wind-surfing in Paros every summer and I can easily say that the island is the summer ASPEN for windsurfing and kite.
  11. Felicia, thanks for boosting confidence! I need that at my age. 19 guys are a lot. I am pretty sure we can cover a wide range of preferences.
  12. Girls however are good for promoting boards.
  13. Guys, I regret to inform you that although the particular group in facebook includes a lot of beautiful girls the actual group that will be joining the SES will consist of 19 guys. Unforunately this particular trip can be very tuff on girls (at least for greek girls). Waking every morning at 7 riding all day, parties, drinking, etc. Besides I think there are enough beautiful girls already coming so if we had any more it would be difficult to concentrate on the riding. Felicia don't you agree??
  14. I couldn't agree more!!! In Austria I like Kaprun and Solden (if you like steep) is a good mountain for carving and you will get to meet a lot of local carvers.
  15. I couldn't agree more!!!! As everyone knows snow comes in many types and conditions. Manmade, new snow, old snow, etc. It doesn't makes sense that there is a base that can be efficient with all the different conditions.
  16. If you really want to improve SES is the way to go. Just being there and watching people takes you to whole new level. During SES there are 2 clinics going on. One is the pureboarding clinic with Joerg and a gforce clinic with me. Also there is Sean from snowperformance running a begginer clinic. For these there is no payment involved! Not to mention all the gear that you get to test ride.
  17. But you still get the DONEK logo appearing on top!
  18. Me and Sean are developing some graphics for the new DONEK metal boards. At this stage we would like to get some feedback and opinions from everyone here. Hopefully we can get an idea as to what riders expect. Thanks for the support!!
  19. Indeed! Although I believe that there is no board that can apply to all the riders. It all comes down to personal preference and technique.
  20. Wider boards allow wider binding angles which allow a more comfortable stance. For some riders wider angles means more edge pressure which offers more stability in a turn and along with the larger side cut allow the rider to get low. Most riders that have taken a Blade for a ride described it as very hooky which is mainly the result of the increased board width. In some cases it takes a few runs for a rider to get comfortable with the particular boards but once he gets passed the slow transition he can really feel confident with his turns and start laying them down.
  21. WTF??? This video is unbeleivable!!!! Just watching it made my balls hurt!
  22. 0 front 0 back. For wider boards the principal is to get as lower to the board as possible in order to control the edge better. It is ideal when the binding have no lift at all like the IBEX (ex-burton race plates) binding
  23. If any of you guys managed to get this magazine can you scan the article and post it? It would be good for people like us that are underpriviliged and cannot get this kind of magazines in our countries!
  24. Thanks Kimo. It will be good to see you after the unfortunate adventure you had. I am glad all is well!!!
  25. Just a suggestion for the organizers. Last year there was no official video made, no photos posted (at least not like the previous years) and no SES2008 t-shirt. Will there be any of these done this season? There was a thread about the video before and most people would have no problem to have the cost of the video included in the SES package.
