Indeed I am. Looking forward to it. This year we are coming as a group of 12 from Greece. I am missing another 278 otherwise we would come as the 300!!!! But rest assured we eat and occupy as much space as 300.

Well Jack, the reason we decided on the specific tail is the fact that we want to maintain a clear carving board look. What usually defines a carving board is the square tail. If we would make it rounder it would look like a regular freeride board and we wanted to avoid that. We even concidered to make it square but we would then loose a market segment that would use it for boardercross since the regulations would't allow it. As per the sidecut we might concider it. Again keep in mind that this board needs to be as friendly as possible but still be a carving board. It is prety hard trying to balance all these things together but it is our first effort so we 'll see how it goes.

Thanks Nils, although I am not exactly sure if it is dying. The most important thing about carving is that it looks cool to everyone. Skiers and snowboarders. Many times we get approached on the mountain by freeride snowboarders asking us all kinds of questions. I am prety sure they like what they see but it is almost impossible to picture one of them puting on hard boots and giving it a go. Even if one of them did it would never stick because of the time that someone needs to put in, in order to change his riding technique. Not to mention the lack of boot comfort he has to endure. These type of boards can serve as an entry platform for carving. If the industry would go into that direction it would definitely open up the scope of riders and give the discipline of snowboard carving a big boost. Good luck with your plans!

As I mentioned previously you can attach a pair of plates and ride deep powder. As for the price it will cost 600 Euros with free shipping to all EU countries. G-Force will be selling these boards along with BLADE all across Europe while the US sales will be handled directly by Sean at DONEK.

We did check and the board can be used for boardercross. In terms of stiffness, taper and overall length we came up with something that will accomodate a percentage of riders. Accomodating 100% of the riders is not feasible unless you have an extremely large line.

The whole concept was to produce a board that is no different from an alpine carving board in terms of flex distribution and materials with a shape that will allow soft boots. The performance requirements were transfered from our main carving board model, BLADE, which provides maximum stability within a turn ideal for euro or extreme carving. And this is what the RAZOR is primarily designed for.

The price will be announced shortly. This is just a heads up on the new board just to get some feedback on the concept and graphics.

I have to say that all the input I am getting is very usefull in its own way. The most common mistake when a concept is generated is that the creator gets too involved and looses his objectivity. First of all thanks everyone for your input!!! JACK, I will take your comments into consideration. I agree with most of the stuff you wrote. The idea behind the use of the railroad photo is that I wanted to have something static. This way the contradiction with the photo underneath would empasize speed and power. The photos could be much better but thats up to the rider (me). Sean did a great job in terms of image quality. The "how low.." photo indeed has the problems that you mentioned but it is a photo that looks like an explosion and thats mainly why I used it. Hopefully Sean can take some more in the next SES. The "draft your way..." ad is an abstarct in terms of dims and the idea is to express the technical, precision, accurate qualities of carving. And thats what the numbers are doing. And since I can't mesure the turn exactly I use the numbers that I do know. Would it be better if I didn't use dimensions?

Welcome to the world of alpine snowboarding. As you progress you will find that this type of riding is very demanding in terms of technique and discipline. It is however very rewarding when you start railing and linking your turns. The cables that you are refering to are allowing you to release the binding. Each heel of the boot have 2 pins protruding from each side (intec). This pins are attaching the boot to the binding. The cable is attached to the pins, goes inside the boot and come up on top of it where it can be pulled. By pulling the cable the pins retract and the boot is release. In terms of boots I recommend Deeluxe Suzuka. It is not as stiff as the indy and feels comfortable. The usage of cants is up to the rider. I prefer to ride with no cant at all. I have a better feeling of the edge during a turn. If you decide to use a cant I recommend only on the rear binding. One of the best bindings to start with is the old Burton race plate which comes with 1 cant disk at 7 degrees (if I remember correctly). Burton has stopped manufacturing this binding but I am prety sure you can find it used. If not try the IBEX binding which is practicaly the same (Ibex has bought the molds from Burton and currently manufactures them). These bindings are relatively soft but are still popular even amongst proffesional racers. In terms of board go soft-er. Donek axis is a good choice or anything custom that you can adjust to your dimension and weight. Have in mind that you will end up with more than one boards so try as many boards as you can. The best way is to show up at the SES (Summit Expression Session) where you can try equipment, talk to people but most important see a lot of riders in action and decide wich way you want to go in terms of riding style and technique. HAVE FUN!!!

I am glad that it can be a benefit to the sport. The magazine editor also liked the article thats why they gave us 6 pages and didn't change a word. During the SES I didn't plan to write an article so I am happy the way it came out. Next SES though I ll'be more organized and I will try sending it to an international snowboard magazine also.
