    Newbie!

This could be the nicest softbooting topic BOL has had yet! where has all the senseless flaming gone?

    Newbie!

great setup, one of the best softboot carving setups concievable. If you want top of the line soft boot carving though, the Catek Freeride 2 is probably the binding of choice. http://www.catek.com/freeride.htm they'll start selling them soon, and they promise to be even better than the freeride 1s. Riding with these bindings and a pair of driver x's is probably as close to hardbooting as you can get with a softboot setup. And your ATV will carve on any type of terrain. You're in for an excellent season this winter.
  4. Pogo, Swellpanik, Miura, and Boheme also make swallowtails (with really cool wooden topsheets). http://www.swallowtails.org/ has some good info and links to swallowtail providers.
  5. That seems to be the consensus amung those who have seen or ridden titanal, although im sure it's come a long way since it was first introduced and durrability probably isnt as huge an issue as it was in the past. And Mike T: I agree, progression seems to come much easier on really nice gear, and I can't think of anything better to spend my extra money on than snowboards.
  6. Quality control: avoid DBX boots/bindings! the cheap crap isnt even fit for toddlers in the training area:nono: My first time off of rentals i was riding those... the bindings broke on the first run down the bunny slope! and the boots give about the same amount of support as your fuzzy slippers.
  7. This is a highly opinionated topic, and if youve read any of my postings you can probably guess where I stand. I havnt ridden my pogos long enough to be able to tell you from experience that they last forever, but I can tell you that my longboard (meant for powder) has taken quite the beating this season here on the east coast ice and it still rides with like new characteristics. I have heard of pogo snowboards that have 15+ years of riding on them and still are riding like a 2 week old board (granted they will have needed serious edge work by this time) and the way my board held up i can definately see how that could happen. I find them worth the money. All the expensive materials pogo uses really shows in the performance of the board. As for Titanal: thats a completely different story... I understand that it helps a lot with dampness, and racers love it, but im not sure how it acts when freecarving. I will be able to tell you in a few months when ive tried out the kessler. 'till then, ill leave it to the guys with the experience. a lot of people dont think snowboards should cost that much, so they steer clear of the uber high-end gear. Snowboards that arent as expensive are still a blast to ride, and a good rider on mediocre gear can out perform a crappy rider on expensive gear. So basically the decision is up to you, whether or not youre willing to shell out the extra dough for the extra goodies it gets you.
  8. Are they seriously that sketchy about the buckles idea? maybe you should stop making the BTS and start making some upgrade buckles, Fin! youd have so many customers youd never have to sell a binding again:lol:

    Longboard!!!

I understand your point of view too, and id probably be a little less sore if i had invested in one. I guess im just willing to experience a little pain for the sake of a clean topsheet (ohh, and if youve ever ridden the moorse mountain chairlift at smugglers notch VT, you know that even for an experienced rider a stomp pad is usefull)

    Longboard!!!

I was considering putting death spikes on the tail of my alpine, but i dont want to take away from the natural beauty of the snowboard. I dont even use a stomp pad for that same reason edit: And dont you go copying me:nono: theres only room for one photo of a teenage addrenaline junkie with a sweet powder board;)

    Longboard!!!

Amazing look! =O And a great board too. Dont be afraid to ride it everywhere, because its certainly not limited to powder. Pogo really knows how to do woodys

    DSM boots

anybody know anything about DSM hardboots? the carvers almanac says theyre the same as head, but they come in three different styles, which seem comparable in function to the Indy, Suzuka and Lemans (and similar in color too). Their website is hard to navigate at first, you have to click on the boxes toward the bottom left of the screen. http://www.dsmsports.com/home.swfdoes anybody have experience with them and how they ride?

    snow

I hope this winter is a good one... somebody owes us in upstate NY after the terrible ice and slush we dealt with last year! no ice coast jokes either:nono: Last season was a huge dissapointment, as far as snow conditions go, even for us that are used to bad conditions. I have a picture on another computer where you can see the entire mountain behind me is a shiney blue.
  14. nope... EC= Swords, pretty much the exact opposite of a skwal. Swords are wide boards meant for Totally Laid Linked Turns. Skwalls are sorta like riding on one ski: they are extremely narrow. It is most comparable to the "on snow" version of waterskiing on a "monoski" type waterski. Although seeing somebody EC on a skwal would be pretty cool:cool:
  15. I can't wait for Jimminy this winter, It's me and my buddies senior skip day destination:cool:
  16. i havnt compared the sharkbite to a flat bottom, but i can tell you the idea behind the design is to allow more torsional flex. it seems to make sense to me, especially if you have a stiff, solid aluminum tailprotector. I can even see a cracking issue if you didnt have the cutout, although im sure the amount of riding needed to cause this issue would result in completely destroying your edges p-tex and topsheet before you got around to cracking the tail.
  17. today's high was in the low 60s here... the anticipation is killer:smashfrea
  18. the non-snow vids are longboarding races. and i agree, there are many idiots on the internet, and im thankful we only get a few each season here on BOL. (although people like "$$$$$" certainly make it more interesting)
  19. perhaps fin should modify some TD2's for a 4 foot pattern:biggthump
  20. sorry about the messy room, and my face is somewhat distorted because i had to condense the photo, but thanks oldsnowboards, nice to know im not going unnoticed:biggthump I can barely afford the boards, but they are worth it to me :)
  21. holy crap! thats pretty scary stuff. I wonder if it made it to "worlds most amazing videos"?
  22. Will this topsheet be available on all models?
  23. you can still get new ones from the bomber store or are you looking for the ti gold diggers?
