  1. Frank, you made me envy... .... I suck in my office...
  2. Maybe it's my poor English.... but I would stick to my statement that race boards are specially built for one single purpose and that does not necessarily match the purpose of a funcarver. If it did, we would not see ultra narrow boards, fat EC boards, schtubbies, etc. It does not mean you cannot have fun on a GS or SL board. It just means that you might be looking for something else not being a racer, but a funcarver. My $0.02. You are entitled to disagree.
  3. I do. And I think you are right. Metal race boards are built for racers for ice and ruts, not for us, mortal funcarvers.... You want something exciting? You want pop? You want speed? You want to jump after each and every turn? Your choice is a Virus Berserker 185!
  4. Pokkis, I wake up every morning at 6.00 AM...... regardless when I go to bed... so I'll be on the first lift in Sölden Friday morning, you can count on me.... But that does not change the fact: Thursday night IS the celebration of the 09/10 season for us, and we are glad to see other fellow hardbooters / softbooters / skiers there.
  5. McFussel, Will you come to F&I Thu night? Or to BlaBla? Let me know. Cheers
  6. Will hit these slopes in 2 days If any of you would be around, we'll kick off the season Thursday night in Fire & Ice / Sölden. ;)
  7. Edtudo, enjoy your Swoard, its a great ride. You'll be surpirsed though how different it is from your narrow skwal. As for the Virus videos on Youtube, most of those riders ride very narrow boards (almost like your Skwal), that is why they look completely different than the Swoard guys on their vids. Actually many of them ride in a similarily compressed body position as you do. As for the Swoard videos, Patrice and Jacques from Swoard are amazing funcarvers, most probably the best I've seen. I think they have done a lot for this sport with their videos. Try to get their latest one called 'Carved'. The rest of their vids is here: http://extremecarving.com/movies/movies.html
  8. Haha... Pokkis is a great rider, but also crazzzy for 1 or 2 brands.... ;)
  9. I have a Virus X-treme in titanal edition. I love it for EC. I rode a couple of other wide bodied boards and for me the Virus X-treme wins hands down. But I think you should also consider that on less steep slopes or on bumpy surfaces the wide boards are not that great fun. Yes, you can survive with it even under those conditions, but for me skinnier / longer boards work better there, they are much faster, responsive and radical. Maybe its just me, but I think a few will share my view on this. A few pics of the X-treme in action:
  10. Just watched the first PSL run this season in Landgraaf and saw a new brand (at least new to me) called Apex ridden by quite a few riders. Their website (http://www.apex-snowboards.com/) is only half-ready, no info on the team, but full of typos. They are located in Austria, but other than that I could not figure out who they are. They have 2 freestyle, 2 sbx and 2 alpine (SL + GS) models and a quite simple flex-plate. Does anyone of you know the company? Kindest
  11. Great video! Is that a Berserker?
  12. Sorry, maybe its my PC but I do not see the introduction text....
  13. "Doyle's dog — Zsazsa, a Rottweiler — alerted him around 1 a.m." Fin, how come you named a rottweiler after a Hungarian actress??
  14. Chatter can be caused by many factors. But usually a low center of gravity, flexed knees and a nice push-pull helps. Just my $0.02.
  15. I have a complaint about skiers. Most of them are unable to go down the slopes at a decent speed, vast majority apply a technique that scrapes off the snow and hence destroy slopes, none of them are able to control those sticks they use, so I got stabbed many times in the liftline, they have a tendency to break ligaments often, so it costs a lot for the whole society, and finally some of them even stink... not to mention that there are too many of them. Anyone want to join my petition against skiers?
  16. Fast, precise, efficient and easy to use: http://www.tooltonic.com/default.asp
  17. Holy crap, this is insane
  18. Thanks Blitz, now I undertand the trick. It is in the 2 different side angles applied. Less material to be removed and faster. Just sharpened and waxed 4 boards after the ECS.... it took me more than an hour, but now they are sharp as a samuraj sword... ;-) Ready to hit the slopes again! Kindest ps.: Sure I met Jean-Bernard, even had a chat with him during the dinner - just did not feel like looking at his demo he 5th consequtive year... ;-))
  19. No, it is not. And not even that difficult as it looks. Once it clicks and then it is easy.... But BIG FUN!
  20. Sorry Nils, I got confused. What does vertically and laterally mean in this context. Also could you please also indicate for each steps if it is the base or the side to be sharpened. Maybe it's just me and my double digit IQ, but I could not figure out.... Thanks
  21. Have no clue how old Jacques is despite of the fact I've seen him several times, but I was laughing my ass of when I read this..... Frank, actually I have not noticed that you are that old, but maybe ptex and zylon keep you look young....
