  1. Ray, ANGELS or ANGLES? If 'ANGELS' then frankly I've never thought of my boards like that, but actually not a bad idea... As for my binding angles, on the Gladis and Berserker its a F65 B60, cants and lifts to have a stable stance, on the ME109 and the X-treme F57 B52, totally flat, no cant, no lift.
  2. Detuning a Virus? Crucify him.... Just kidding, you do whatever you want with your collection of Virus boards... but does Frank know about this?
  3. $h1t.... are you making fun of a poor non-native speaker or this is for real....
  4. Sorry for my ignorance, but English is not my native language. What does 'Schtubby' exactly mean? Thanks
  5. Detuning a carving board? I'd rather cut a finger....
  6. I own a metal board and a few carbon and zylon ones. Metal is great for its dampness, but a damp feeling is not necessarily something that you always want.....
  7. This will trigger some flaming I guess....
  8. As for the sidecut, yes indeed, I would even say 13-14m.
  9. I think what we tend to call a eurocarve or extremecarving board is relatively wide (21+cm), not much camber compared to e.g. a traditional Virus, not too much pop, forgiving nature, long effective edge , almost hammerhead nose, soft flex pattern, length somewhere between a GS and an SL board. Like a Swoard, like Virus X-treme, etc. These boards are great fun in certain conditions but can be boring in other conditions. Depends on what you want to do with it.
  10. English is not my mother tongue, but this article including the pic is really sarcastic, right? If someone thinks it is cool to make fun about hardbooters, that is fine, but IMHO there are many more softbooters on the hills who could be subject of ridicule with baggy pants, riveted belts, iPods and not being able to make a single turn....
  11. I told ya it was the Burton Race.... I just did not remember that the SI was called Physics.... As for the Phantom III, why don't you post a review on that, too. It is a WC GS board, right? What makes it 'III'? I do not recall I and II. Why do you sell it?
  12. I thought the binding is the step-in version of this old piece of crap....
  13. I think up till now the Undertaker was the longest with its 192 cm. Frank might built longer custom boards, but I've never seen any... As for the bindings, Jack is right, what are those old Burton Raceplates, Fruno??

  15. Great review Pogo. Although I did not have a chance to try the Evo, knowing the construct of the board my expectation was very similar to what you described above. Your review has strengthened my belief that the Zylon has an extraordinary level of vibration absorbtion without losing the pop effect. On the facts & figures piece I think I missed the fat guy on the slopes being 185kg and having a 185cm waist.... On the other hand my friend crashed with someone there and reported loss of consciousness. The only thing he could remember is that he just bounced off an other rider like a ping-pong ball... he is 190cm, 100kg, wears full Dainese protection and a helmet. I guess the other party in the collision must have been you.... Any pics? I can support your review with a pic of my Zylon Berserker in action.
  16. What happened Ray, you don't use words anymore, only small icons? I think I should try this in my office with my colleagues.....
  17. Tend to agree with Pogo... it is not that everyone goes wide or should go wide. In my opinion it is more about having a wider selection of alpine boards available nowadays for different styles and purposes. 14-18 cm for quick turns and quick edge to edge time, around 20 cm for GS and SL in WC, and 21-23 for more relaxed styles and EC. Is one better than the other? Nope. Depends on purpose of use and personal preference. For example I like narrow and lively boards on nicely groomed not too steep hard pack, and like wider, über-damp boards on really steep ones for EC. And I actually hate it the other way around. A wide, damp board can be very boring on a groomed blueish, redish run, and a long and narrow stick can be quite challenging on a very steep slope with icy spots and some soft moguls. There I would much rather have my X-treme with me. Only my 0.02$.
  18. Retail price is EUR3500.... I saw it in a shop in Sölden / Austria last weekend. It took my breath away... both the look and the price....
  19. Google Translate can.... The redevelopment, while the result of long extensive tests The new model for the season was so extensive revised and improved again, that one almost of a redesign can talk. The shell has been strengthened and a new polyamide 12 material that is nearly indestructible, extremely easy and additionally cold is stable. That means your new virus UPZ RC 10 remains the same at each temperature in Flex! With new lighter materials, a new shoe designed interior and it was also to save weight. The new tongue construction with new softer Flexverhalten provides more comfort and ease of entry and exit! As usual, very good fit and comfort has also been further improved, without sacrificing in terms of power on the board or the ski to have to do it, on the contrary! Enhanced High-Tech buckles on optimized positions from the rest of her skiing contribute to this perfect performance in Boots! A tongue is harder. An adapter to your sole RC 10 in a full rebuild can be Skiboot, is optional here in the shop also available! Do so by the evolution in snowboard and Skiboot sector surprise, and even after the first exit you will see that you made the right choice searched.
  20. I thought I already responded to this post, but seemingly it disappeared somehow. I have both. I think the winner is clearly the TD2. Much more solid construction, gives more feedback, more direct and more precise. Also from a construction perspective I wonder that for years binding manufacturers did not consider the issue of mounting an asymmetrical (relative to the board's longitudinal axis) plate onto a board that is supposed to bend in a perfect arc. So why do I have an F2? Well, it is mounted onto a board that I lend many times to friends and also use as a rock-board, and the F2 binding is way easier to set / re-set.
  21. New non-metal? Sure. Virus Zylon Berserker 185. Is it cheaper than a metal stick?? No way..... ;-) Metal in my opinion is good for a certain purpose. But there are many other things one might want from a board. I love my metal stick for its dampness and forgiving nature. But there are slopes and circumstances where I want something more lively, a real adrenalin pump. And I guess there are many other boarders with various needs and ideas where metal is just not the right answer. Metal is not an absolute best, even if you get this impression from WC. I don't even think that there is an overall best material for building snowboards. I guess it all depends on what you want from a board. Just my 2 cents. Kindest
  22. Fantastic video... I need to quote from Frozen Backside: 'But everyone knows who is the king of the hill, the real deal, the master of desaster, the dark lord of the Sith, the rock'n'roll superstar, the Mr. incredible and last not least the Carving-Master 2009.... ...the star destroyer, the Jesus-Christ Superstar, Prian, germany's next topmodel, Mr Hoodle the Noodle, the circus maximus, the Paganini of Snowbaoarding and the Rembrandt of the slope. ....The Rock, Rumble in the Jungle, Ayatollah and the enlightened reincarnation of Buddha!' And an other quote, same forum, same author: 'You won't see me, because I am too fast. But you will notice I am there if the glacier melts down. Or check out in the "Fire & Ice". I am the guy who is surrounded by at least 10 supermodel groupies.':lol::lol:
