Johnasmo and I are riding the bike park on Saturday. Pretty sure there will be apres beers in the Stube after a few laps .:)
I was just there a couple of weeks ago! Never been in summertime, very nice. Came up from the south on 93, that is one big lake! Camped a couple days at the state park on Whitefish Lake, pretty but the trains drove us nuts. Drove up the mountain to look around, had some beers on the deck of the Stube. Considering purchasing property there but may not happen due to all the complication involved, plus not so much with the bargains there as a few years ago. Seems like a lot of development going on right now, not a good sign if we're looking to be in a buyers' market.

Yes, sad to say, I think Whitefish is going to be the next Fernie. You might as well jump in now, as I don't think it's going to improve.

I can't get over how packed the place is in the summer, and how expensive the hotels are! I'm used to the winter prices, and I was stunned when I looked at hotels for this trip. We're camping at the KOA because anything close to town was either full or ridiculously expensive, and even the campsite is $46 per night.

The state park campsite was $23/night, but for the sake of your sleep don't go there. There was 4 or 5 trains each night in between 10 and 12, then 1 or 2 in the middle of the night, plus the morning ones. The rail runs right behind the permanent sites where the park hosts stay, I don't know how they stand it. It's kind of like that scene from the Blues Brothers. "How often do the trains go by?" "So often you won't notice it after a while." Or something like that. Shoulda had some dry white toast and bourbon straight up.

WTF 1-24-2014 - 2-1-2014. Ok hellow whitefish . Lets get this back on track. Shred and I booked our place today. So it's a done deal. I hope we can get some more people out this year . We have big competition with the SES a week later. Don't forget there are a lot great deals on and around the mountain. WTF is a small carving event with 3000 skiable acres . Come and go as you Please. Most of us are at chair 2 at first chair 9am. With Mother Natures help there is incredible groomed wide open runs. Not crowded! ! Great places to eat and enjoy the beverage of your choice. Fantastic local friendly people who are a pleasure to call my friends.

it was a beautiful winter wonderland all morning with big flakes coming down.

then a little rain in the afternoon. should cool down with a artic front pushing

down and more pacific moisture for the perfect storm. finally got my sup paid

off and took it out monday, tuesday and thursday, can't wait for summer, wait!

did i say that... starting to pull some boards out and mounting the bindings on

them. getting psyched up now that it's looking like a winter wonderland...

three more weeks...

it has not snowed the last ten days, but has been alot colder. two weekends

ago it dumped plenty then rained a couple days then the artic air came down

with mostly clear skies. eleven more days till opening and hope we get some

fresh pow. haven't heard what runs will be open on opening day, most looks

good, but still on the thin side. looks like a huge front coming in on the radar.

here's a awesome pic of whitefish lake today at 3:05pm...
