slabber
SV650 is a great choice, buddy just upgraded to the café style SV650X from a Duke 390. Lots of aftermarket support, make it how you want.

Haven't been on two wheels in like 10 years, but a good friend in town just got a bike and needs a riding buddy, obviously. Trying to decide... Haha. Just joyrides on country roads, going out to eat, running errands. The MV would be the worst for this, but man it's tempting at $13,000 on cycletrader. Of course for the purposes of the odd track day maybe once a year or less and parading around Portland, the MV would be the best. Maybe someday. ShortcutToMoncton
Haha…to continue the analogy sounds like you’re dreaming of a Zylon Virus for five freecarve Sunday afternoons a season. I’m a biased Honda guy here: lots of great bikes (used and new), good reliability, industry standard parts and service. Bikes usually need a fair bit of maintenance so that’s an important part to remember. Everyone’s different, but I never had much time for tinkering or shop work: just having a bike ready to go whenever I felt like it was the most important bit. $13k sounds pretty wild. Hell you could get a brand new CBR650 racer for much cheaper than that. I’m not sure why you’d want that for midlife Sunday biking but I’m sure you know that. Neil Gendzwill
What, you didn't buy the R? Compromise is for cowards! Anyway, beautiful bike, I'm jealous.
Eastsiiiide
Love that single side swingarm in the back, and the way the pipe tucks into the space. Motorcycles may not be high on my priority list, but still I'd love to try a Ducati some day, just to see. Nice purchase!

Haha, this is "just" the Panigale V2 with "only" 155hp. I don't need the 207hp from the V4R. And I like twins and I think this is the best looking Panigale. Took it for my first ride today, it's a dream come true.
Neil Gendzwill
The V4R is 237 I think, the regular V4 is 205 or something.
slabber
Ride safe @Jack M. I'm a firm believer of ATGATT. Beauty bike! Will you change the pipe or any mods planned, fender delete etc?

Oddly the R is listed at 207hp and the S is listed at 210. 1 hour ago, slabber said: Ride safe @Jack M. I'm a firm believer of ATGATT. Beauty bike! I didn’t think I’d like it but I actually do, a lot. I live in a neighborhood, and also I want to let my bank account recover. YouTube doesn’t do it justice. It’s not quiet. Neil Gendzwill
Current website says the R is 218, 237 with the racing exhaust, that’s in the specs. The link below says 240.5 not sure how you get that configured, maybe race gas? https://www.ducati.com/ca/en/bikes/panigale/panigale-v4-r
Jack M
Their website is ambiguous. Scrolling down on your link I see 207hp which I assume is the "stock" config: I also see 218/237 in the tech specs.

lowrider
Hope you family guys are buying a great big insurance policy for your family. The probability of survival is low. Nice to leave them something they can remember you by. I simply do not trust the average driver enough to risk my life on their attention span . I also wish my son would sell his bike !

Jack M
I knew this was the bike I should have gotten instead of the Panigale, but I had to cross a Ducati Superbike off my bucket list. Sold the V2 for not much of a loss. However, I cannot believe how much better this SuperSport is on the street. It makes more power and torque than the V2 until 8000 rpm, is waaaayy more comfortable, sounds better, and has heated grips. I love it. I never would have guessed but yes, seems common sentiment about the Panigale. Same article suggests you can drag the stock exhaust on the SuperSport. Got a high mount pipe in mind yet? I recently switched to a high mount myself. I volunteer as a moto pilot for a couple bike races and the Competition Werkes GP slip on I had was too loud for the racers / spectators. I used to swap out it out for the OE exhaust but that was huge PITA. New pipe has db killer I can insert when needed.
slabber
The Grom got some updates. Aftermarket Kepspeed swingarm. Has since failed but got warranty replacement. DHM high-comp piston, oil cooler and a Kitaco clutch cover that adds an oil filter.

The air between the rear tire and the tail is an important design element to me. I don't want to clutter it up with the high mount Akrapovic. Also I have not dragged the exhaust yet. Seems like that would only happen at the track. I'll probably do a track day like every other year, so, not a big concern. My commute is also one of my favorite twisty backroad rides, no dragging. "Words cannot express how unpleasant it is to ride a Panigale V4R on the street" Sounds like that author never rode a 916/748 which was an absolute torture rack. The Panigales ergonomics are more comfortable than that, but similar to any other crotch rocket. Been there done that. I'm 50. No need.
