daveo
Tune-able in some sort of way. This is great news for plate innovation and development. Well, any news is really. Edited March 11, 2019 by daveo

daveo
I honestly have no idea. But this is from the post: The plate model 2019/20 is divided into carving mode and race mode. The plate can be adapted to the needs of the user, the field and snow conditions. Carving mode allows snowboard to maximize the radius of the snowboard. Due to the space between the base plate and front and rear, the snowboard is fully adapted to the snowboard. It is suitable for all terrains - especially for steep slopes, for a hard or softer snow cover. Carving settings are suitable for free carving, while Race mode is more convenient for driving between strolls. The control of the plate settings is located at its rear. Because of this, the Race Mode plate is more closed and the end than in the front, so there is less space between the rear and the base plate. The desire of each snowboarder is quick turn of the snowboard at the beginning of the turn and preventing to end the turn in the hill. Consequently, the path towards the next turn is reduced, allowing for faster speed. The plate allows the snowboard to maximize the radius of the snowboard at the end of the turn. Most snowboards have a smaller radius in the front than in the back of the snowboard. The radius at the front of giant slalom snowboard starts at 11 meters and increases in the tail snowboards up to 60 meters. We adjusted the new plate settings to snowboards, user preferences and snow conditions. So far, we have followed the trend that the snowboards began to adapt to the plates, and now the "new" plates fit the snowboard, which is also right and better. lowrider
Sorry i'm not drinking the Kool Aid. The difference between race and free ride is a millimeter difference ? ( Sorry should have said a few mm difference.) Still can't see 15 mm making that much of a difference.
daveo
Looks more live 15mm+ to me. Essentially carve mode is softer than race mode (so I'm told from the Iron Rok guy..).

The two choices of the plate go to the same set of holes on the board, so the closer one will keep the plate against the board, while the one further back will lift the plate that much off the board, the plate moves up and down not forward or backward, I'm assuming.
