Donek
I am in Soelden with Todd Brown for Carving Masters. The Event starts on Friday, but we rode today. Here's a little video I shot today. This is all in camera editing, so look for a better version after I get back. I'll try to post a short video every day. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xGcBK1QgBFs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
www.oldsnowboards.com
Very cool Sean!! Great update!! Keep them coming and have fun!! Back ground info: http://www.carving-masters.de/cmstartup/cm/index.php <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/40149339" width="500" height="281" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe> <p><a href=" ">Soelden - Carving Masters 2011, 28.4. - 1.5.2011</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/user11217213'>http://vimeo.com/user11217213">Nejc Poljansek</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p><iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/dR5s7ea4K08?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> History: So put Uwe ("Pogokönig"), Lothar ("McFussel"), Ruz and Ben at the idea, and after 3 months of preparation met on the weekend nearest to 01 May 2008 nearly 200 carvers and a handful of brave manufacturer to the first carving master (see the right poster). The mood was gigantic and far exceeded our expectations. The cohesion between people who previously knew each other just from the forum was incredible (and still has not changed!). Since material was exchanged, provided assistance, provided replacement parts available, and more ... Given the great party came in BlaBla, the contest and the EarlyBird Run on Sunday almost a side issue. ~tb
How to fail at first ever European Snowboard trip: have boot break on day one of the event! How to win at failing. . . have the parts in your bag at the base lodge to effect reapairs in under 5 minutes! Thanks Kevin!

OhD
Sean Check your light source setting - it may be on warm incandescent. Is this a working trip (did you pack a boatload of demo boards)? Have a great time! Dennis
Donek
yes there was a bad white balance setting on a couple clips. As I'm editing in camera, I can't adjust that yet. When I re edit for the final version I'll correct it. We brought 8 demos this year as we really do not know what to expect. We are already getting some ideas. There are shops in town that stock alpine gear and we see more hard booters on the hill than soft booters; and the event has not even begun. pogokoenig
D... it! I am sitting here in my office watching Sean and the perfect conditions in Soelden. Enjoy and have fun. Very cool that we now really see an exchange between both sides of the big pond. Please make this thread a "CM 2013 Daily rub in" thread. Donek
I will try, but there are now guarantees on the video today. Everything got started and everyone wants to go out for dinner and drink, so I may be limited on time. Very good day although the snow turned slushy today. With luck it will firm up tomorrow. We will see. There are 8 snowboard brands represented in the demo area. The riding styles are quite different here. A Lot less race derived and more about freecarving and having fun, but with the need to make tight turns on steep terrain due to crowds. I expect we will have at least one new line of boards for next year, so we can begin to meet the needs of the European riders. Lots of really nice people here who just want to carve and have fun. pogokoenig
Let's bet whether sean can make it on his snowboard tomorrow before noon. The expression session is about to start right now in the blackandorange bar. It's going to be a hell of a party.

Donek
I'm really curious about that new line of board. Can you say more ? This mountain a some others in Europe are rather different from the US. They are very steep groomed hills that are more easily ridden with a very narrow, tight turning fixed radius and lively board. We will most likely offer a board that is designed around these parameters.
kieran
very narrow, tight turning fixed radius and lively boardsomething along the lines of a über-proteus?
Donek
It is possible it could be along the lines of a proteus, but many of the riders here are on glass type boards contractions.
Donek
12 Snowboards manufacturers, 3 binding manufacturers, 1 boot manufacturer, and a magazine company on site today. There was also a live band, a Harley Davidson gathering, and the opportunity to try driving a snowcat or a snow mobile.
