looking for a new pair of bibs/pants that have a 1/2bib in back to keep the snow out. I have a habit of losing heelside and am sick of the crude up my back. I want tuff stuff with covered full side zips, goretex a must ,reenforced where it counts, powder cuffs, decent pockets. Hard to tell what your getting online and dont mention arc'teryx..im not paying for a logo. any suggestions would be great.

The North Face Foundation bib is where it's at!

It is cut hither than traditional bibs.

Good ventilation, lots of pockets(zippered).

I have never had a problem with snow infiltration.

This is comming from the guy that wears fart bags primarily because of snow infiltration.

Put over 100 days on them too, good durability.

I scored a great set of North Face bibs last season, and they're fine, but I find they're not as waterproof or as warm as my Arcteryx ones, or my MEC's.

I bought my Arcteryx ones off the Mountain Equipment Co-op outdoor gear swap site for $250. If you can get to a shop and try a set on for size, which is what I did before buying, it might be worth seeing if you can score a good used pair. Mine came from a heli guide who was given them as uniform, and didn't like how they fitted so only wore them twice. I don't know if REI has a similar site, or maybe set up an Ebay search to ping you if something comes up ...

If you're happy to pay shipping, MEC sells their stuff online and should ship to the States. They always have a line of bib pants for winter, and their bibs are absolutely solid. I've worn mine for three seasons snowboarding and snowshoeing, skidded down the hill countless times, and they're bombproof.

MEC's 2010/2011 version of teh pantz : http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442629015&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302699263. For $260 CAD, these would be my vote for the best value for money on the market.

I have bibs made by Marmot that have performed very well over the years. I'd definitely recommend them.

I believe they are the Alpinist but it looks like Marmot makes a few different models of bibs.

Taiga works is strictly a local manufacturer of outdoor clothing based in Vancouver BC, and to my knowledge doesn't have any European distribution.

However, they do ship to Europe, and if your order needed some local follow up, the local carvers in Vancouver would probably be able to help you out.
