Sultan Guy Posted February 26, 2010 Report Share Posted February 26, 2010 Watching some of the ski jumping this week and reading that the IOC is considering adding Slopestyle Snowboard as an Olympic event got me thinking about what other snowboard events might work. We already have a thread going on snowboard downhill but what about snowboard jumping? I see a 220 wide board with some special flex binding so you can lean way forward and fly that thing. Traveling in a straight line, base flat, is still the most scary thing about snowboarding. I love jumping and I'd love to try a distance jump on skis (I'd have to start on something smaller than what the Olympians are using...), but I don't even want to try it on a snowboard. I've stood at the top of the COP 90 metre jump, and there is no way I'd be going down that thing on skis, a board, or anything else. :) Although the guys at work were discussing the logistics of taking a zorbing ball off it ... davekempmeister Posted February 27, 2010 Report Share Posted February 27, 2010 Consider that Mads' world record jump on a snowboard at 180-190 ft is less distance than the majority of the Olympic women downhillers off the last roller, just before the finish.
