"Cougars Gone Wild/ Asspen Extreme"

on a sad note, just heard about this:

:(

The Aspen Valley and the ski racing community suffered a tragic loss on Saturday. Brian grew up in the valley, was an NCAA div 1 all american at CU, owned Saxy's in Boulder and Basalt and had just started a flight school at the Aspen Airport. Super passionate, and a very large personality in town. Always had a smile on his face. He was doing some advanced training in Fl and his twin engine piper hit a single engine cessna.

Survided by three children and his wife Christy. This is so tragic, it is hard to comprehend. A great friend, super father and husband and all around Joy to be around.

Send vibes for the family and friends.

Memorial service to he heald this week in Aspen.

Brian served me a few drinks at Jimmy's --nice guy..

Over the past year I think about 6 people have died here in accidents... with only 2500- 5000 local people according to estimates.. it seems like only 600 during the offseason.. I think this place has the highest death rate in the USA. But at least no one goes out slowly with arterial sclerosis - it's instantaneous.

I know, I know, not focusing on the important stuff....

Mondo 27 boots? Wow, now I really feel like I have muchkin feet...

Her foot measures 10.25 inches at longest toe- don't forget..she is tall. Currently she is in a pair of Salomon malamutes cira 1999 that I downsized into..a half size.

Anyone have some old hard boots laying around without crushed liners?

hard to find a cougar at greasy pole in gloucester but this is serious hilarity. Right up the coast from where dano keeps his sailboat. Kinda JAckass meets the Darwin Awards.

ASPEN — A 52-year-old man was found dead Sunday at the bottom of an avalanche outside the ski-area boundary on Aspen Mountain, authorities said late Sunday.

The body of Cory Brettman of Old Snowmass was found in the Power Line area around 9 p.m. Authorities received a call of an overdue skier at about 8:30 p.m. and the Aspen Skiing Co. mobilized 22 people to search for Brettman.

The victim was not breathing and had no pulse, the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. Rescuers attempted to revive him using a defibrillator. The cause of death remains under investigation.

The avalanche, in the Power Line area outside of the ski boundary, was about 100 yards long and 30 yards wide, according to the sheriff's office.

No other information was available late Sunday.

This article will be updated.

While i feel sorry for the guy's family, how stupid can you get skiing out of bounds when avalanche danger is so high. Idiot.

Hey John. E-mail sent. Waiting on your info.

Terry

I'm going to have her call you...pm me your number.. you have got to hear her accent..lol..

Yes another one gone- another quick death... for Aspen.. So far without being overtly social..I met two people

http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_9414036

I don't think Bruce was ever not partying.. never saw a guy in his 70's like this before. Unfortunately from the moment I met him..I knew the guy was in for trouble. Met him on two occasions. He always traded "Bud" for booze...

he and Brian S. (he served me drinks one night at Jimmy's) both gone... Aspen is a small town.. I am almost nervous to wonder who will go this year.......

I agree this year avalanche danger looks pretty bad. We have an unstable layer and this last dump was incredibly heavy dense snow.. unusual for Aspen... but magnificent once it is groomed in for carving..

Ruthies was amazing yesterday... and I was holding fast in soft boots. Imagine how it would have been in hardboots??? Some clod on the lift looked at me and my board and said " Wow those were some nice turns... does that carving board work ok in Powder?" my reply.."Of course it does.. it isn't a carving board at all... it is a powder board! Look how wide it is..and I'm in soft boots." In deference to his ignorance.. the guy was from Vermont... and SO...likely never saw a split-tail powder board in his life.

as for getting this thread back on track..

A huge cougar herd is arriving- (a influx of bo-tox shipments is a good indicator) the seasonal migration has begun... I am going to take some candid shots of them near their favorite habitats... Prada Pass, Louis Vitton Valley, and Gucci Gulch. They have been know to wallow in the hot pools of the St. Regis area- where dim lighting + vision obscuring steam, and lack of younger females seems to make them more confident as they look for new prey.

Good look on having the can of Heinie while in Amsterdam. I was there in the summer, but the factory was closed. Did you go for the tour?

They don't actually make beer there anymore. It's a big tourist trap but you do get free beer at the end. The Guinness tour in Dublin is far superior (as is their beer).

I'm bigger on Guinness as well, but if you're going to Amsterdam, why not check out the factory? I smell a hater! Jokes aside, thanks for the head's up, I'll definitely check it out.

PS: Have a picture of yourself in Dublin drinking a Guinness? Didn't think so. Stop being such a hater and change your avatar to a shot of yourself drinking a Molson Canadian in front of the CN, hoser.

;)

I was bummed that the Van Gogh Museum was closed for renovations.I bought a bunch of Heinies at the local grocery and stocked the backpack, you have to be chill, tho. You can't just walk around with a blatantly open beer. The cops aren't impressed if you're not discreet, and it's a hefty fine( so I was told, anyway).

found some tasty waffles in the AM and had an espresso at the 420 Cafe, took this pic followed by a bag of fries with some really tasty mayo dippin sauce.Took the train out see the windmills near the chocolate factory and a bunch of incredible bakeries. Then back on the Thalys train to Paris, only a 4 hour ride.

Sorry to steer the cougar thread off track again.:oe6x0qv.jpg

How many Bulldogs are there in Amsterdam!? Man... I know what you mean about the laws... I never quite knew what was legal and what wasn't. While I was in London in Feb, some guy in a convenience store told me it was legal to walk around drinking a beer as long as I didn't look like I was out-of-control-intoxicated, so I walked around drinking for most of the week, and someone later told me that it was illegal. Also, Amsterdam had some weird rules... like... you can smoke bud inside, but if you mix any tobacco into the blunt, you need to smoke outside? So weird.

Money on that menu, I love how they put emphasis on their Cannabis Cup Entry. Space cookies! Man, I didn't have those, most places we went to just had space cake. YES, di white widow!

Did you go to the Cannibis Museum? When I was there, it was run by a gorgeous girl covered in tattoos, head to toe. This was in the early 90s before everyone and her mom starting getting tats. Strangely alluring, she was. I have a photo around somewhere.

Man, it seemed like there were 23134132597 sex museums and just as many cannabis museums when I was there this summer. What was good inside?

I feel like there's a bunch of stuff I missed, but I don't think I could've sat through much of what was happening in the red light district. Just seeing some of the... product... in the windows was enough to kill my appetite.

LET'S SEE THE PIC!

funny ya say that, skate cuz it was one of the first places I started asking around for a place to stay for a night. Didn't take the tour but the staff was really friendly and helpful. They told us to try the Winston, 5 minutes away. It worked out great.

http://www.winston.nl/

Maybe we got lucky that they even had a room during the Cup, right next to the red light and clean, really small but we had our own bathroom and a balcony overlooking a smart shop. ;)

Does Aspen have youth hostels ? I was there for Mardi Gras years ago and there were a TON of Trustifarians.

We stayed at Snowmass here, in the village, free party bus to aspen,it was a wicked good time :eplus2:

Hahahaha, you guys kill me.

Hold up, Willy, you were in Amsterdam during Euro Cup this past summer?

nope. just happened to be in Paris the same time as the Cup and convinced wifey to hop a train up north to check things out for almost 2 days. The metro was on strike in Paris so it seemed like a good idea at the time:D
