tex1230
just thought I'd share... started by wrapping the headers in exhaust wrap: then picked up a pair of open pipes off a wrecked bike: just finished painting the pipes: next up - cafe bars wish list: cafe seat, upgrade suspension and brakes, possibly rearsets... damn, this is getting as expensive as snowboarding! Chris Houghton
A MODERN English bike! No oil underneath it. The last Triumph I rode had the shifter on the left side, looks like they've made some real progress. the new triple is supposed to be very nice too. tex1230
No oil under it ANYMORE... had a few major oil leaks - but fixed under warranty (knock on wood) The triples are very nice bikes. I bought this one because of the retro looks...going to look a lot more like it's '60s cousins by the time I'm done. (plus I have to make it presentable for track days next year)
GeoffV
Matt you changing the rims? Keep posting pics as you make updates, I'll be curious to see how Bonnie looks when she's done :p

tex1230
Matt you changing the rims? Keep posting pics as you make updates, I'll be curious to see how Bonnie looks when she's done :p Rim change looks like a difficult project. I have seen a couple of people who have used SV650 rims and suspension, and others who have used F3, but I am not a talented mechanic and that is beyond my capapbilities, so I'll have to think about it and probably end up paying someone to do it. and Neil, I heart that bike
tex1230
here's a bonnie in progress - not mine but close to what I want to do: (note - he has painted the rims since this pic) - SV650 wheels and forks here's a set of the only aftermarket bonnie wheels out there - but they are $$$$$$$$

Chris and Tex1230 -- reminds me why I believe the English do not build or design Computers.--- They can not figure out how to make them leak oil!
xxguitarist
I like what you've done Take no offense to this, but might you have started with a thruxton in the first place instead? I suppose it doesn't give the reward of making the mods yourself..
tex1230
yes, If I had known where I was going in the first place, I could have started with a thrux. Problem is, I didn't know where I was going when I bought this bike and I didn't like the upswept pipes on the stock thrux.
Gecko
I assume that you have spent sometime at Ace Cafe and other like minded sites working on you design ideas
GeoffV
Mmmm... street triple. Neil ain't that a sweet looking bike :D I'm curious how it rides compared to my Daytona 675. The mags have given it a great review so far.
Jack M
I strongly dislike header wrap on any bike. blecch. And those SV wheels just don't jive. Need spokers. Track duty does not preclude classic looks: I'd say all you need is some stiffer springs, good rubber, and clipons. And lose the saddlebags of course. Oh and a K&N and jet kit to go with the new silencers. I'm assuming you're going for the CR look.

Oh and a K&N and jet kit to go with the new silencers. I'm assuming you're going for the CR look. Header wrap is a love it or hate it kind of thing...I love it... The reason for the SV wheels or other non-spoked wheels is to give more freedom in the choice of tires. pretty limited with the tubes. I need to do more research on that though. Clipons - Ace bars close enough - on the way next month. Saddlebags - I need them for my commute. takes all of 5 minutes to pull them off. hate the look of the brackets while they're off but I don't want to pull the rear shocks every time I feel like taking off the bags. Stiffer springs on the list...good excuse to add fork gaiters when I do them too. K&N and rejet done when I changed the pipes.
trailertrash
matt, fyi, for track days they want you to have a jacket and pants that zip together. so while you are getting your bike together keep that in mind. john

Gecko
i think i will be ordering this soon for commuting. A guy at work has this he replaced a 2 piece and said it's easier to get in and out of. I want these however since my Joe Rocket jacket and pants still have years left in them but my feet need help
trailertrash
yeah, i am not crazy about 1 piece suits. i just dont like them. the time it takes to get in and out is not really that big a deal for my decision. they are expensive but if it lasts 10 yrs it will pay for itself. GeoffV
I did not like wrapping my mid pipe either , but I seemed to reduce the heat on my arsch so I'll keep it. I just put on some Pazza shorties yesterday, that should drop 10 seconds off my lap times right? :D
