  1. I'll go fix that from now on. It's really just habet because most forums I'm on I don't want people e-mailing me. Also you now have some e-mail in your inbox...
  2. I'm a beginner looking for some not too expensive starter boots in size 27. Almost any kind of will do unless they're really old/really beat up. Someone in the Los Angeles area would be nice (so I could make sure they fit) but not necessary.
  3. Speed wobbles can be a problem. What trucks do you have on your board, are the trucks weged? Most trucks actually aren't very stable at high speed especially if they're weged. If you start to get really bad uncontrollable speed wobbles when you're riding my only advice is aim for soft ground like grass. My suggestion is go slower. Practice going slower and gradually work up your speed. If you're the slightest bit tense or uncomfortable with your speed you'll get speed wobbles. If you practice and work your speed up you'll be more comfortable with going fast and in the event you do get wobbles you'll be better able to stop wobbling before they get too bad.
  4. I've got one. http://www.myspace.com/10432832
  5. It's great that you bring this up becuase I was having the exact conversation last night. It's all relative $3+/gal is a lot of money for gas over here.
  6. I've got it. It's great! I love using the voice chat.
  7. The time draws near for me to order my new hardboot setup. For boots I'll probably go with Lemans and TD2's for bindings. But I have yet to decide on a board. I previously made a thread on this very subject at the end of last season and thought I'd decided on the Donek Axis but the lure of a full on carve machine like a freecarve or race board is too great so I'm freally drawn towards the Donek Freecarve II. I know the Axis would be a great board but again I find the freecarve more appealing. I know that becuase this is going to be my only board for a while the Axis would be better becuase of it's all around capabilities but I'm not too sure I really need that option. I do ride all over the mountian with softboot friends on occation BUT I almost never encounter powder and if I do it's usually only a foot or two so power isn't a big issue. I would be riding the board all day so the worst conditions I'd encounter would be ungroomed choppy snow and/or ice. My problem is that I have no idea how miserable I'd be on a freecarve board when snow conditions get less than perfect and how much better an Axis would perform on those conditoin. But again the worst conditions I regularly ride in is end of day chopped up snow and/or ice. I have a crappy camberless dryed out gouged out base freeride soft setup that I could use on the days where snow conditions get really bad for carving so I guess I could fall back on that but on some of the trips I'm going on that board won't be an option. I've gone through the pros and cons of both the Axis and the Freecarve in my head many times but I just can't come to a conclusion. I know the Axis would be a great board for me and I'm fairly sure a Freecarve II would work fine but I just don't know how poorly a Freecarve II would perform in the conditions I ride and how much better the Axis would be.
  8. My BOL screen name is obvious, it's my name. For this and a couple of other forums I just use my name but the name I use most across the internet is Ginjiroku. It doesn't mean anything in any language as far as I know. I got it a long long time ago in 3rd grade (I'm in 10th now), it was supposed to sound japanese but it's not. I've used it for so long and I'm so bad at thinking up anything new that I just use that or my real name for almost everything (forums, aim, e-mail etc.)
  9. I love it! That old Vbulliten was getting um... old.
  10. I need one of those long sleeve shirts for skateboarding.
  11. Krispy Kremes are delicious especially when they're fresh. In-n-Out burgers are also fantastic.
  12. How olds that picture? I'm pretty sure I was there when they were setting up that course.
  13. Besides looking cool what's the advantage of using contact paper over not using it? Edit: Whoops, sorry I just saw the other thread. Contact paper sounds like a good idea.
  14. I saw this on Donek's website "The number of high-quality retail shops carrying Donek products is growing. In some cases, demo boards may be available. Contact the specific retailer for information. Bomberonline, Silverthorne, CO – Retail The Startingate, Bondville, VT– Retail If you are not located near these stores, you can contact Donek directly. We have a selection of boards that we can make available for demo to interested buyers."
  15. I was looking at the Axis and checking the reviews on this site. I think that might be the one. It's a little pricy though.
  16. You said you wanted to know more about me. I've been on soft gear for about 5 years. I'm a decent snowboarder but not excellent. I find I like staying on the ground and going down some fun runs and picking up speed more than I like going off jumps so I've decided to look into alpine. I can't carve but I've tried on my softboot setup. I've managed to make more defined lines in the snow and skid less but I'm still not full on carving. All of my friends are on softboots and I go all over the place with them. I need something versitle that will go in all different conditions but still carve. I'm not looking to go super fast. 40-45mph is an approximation of the speeds I reach when I try and pick up speed on a run I'm confortable with but I won't be carving at those speeds when I'm learning so I need something that will carve easily at low speeds. I definatly don't need the ability to ride switch and I don't need something that will go off of jumps. I stay on the ground 99% of the time, only a little hop here and there if I get some air off a little ridge in the run. I'm 5'10" and a 167 comes up to my eyes. Again I need something for all conditions that still carves and will still be a good board for me when I become more advanced.
  17. I'm new to alpine snowboarding but I really want to get into it. I'm just trying to decide what kind of board to get. An all-mountain style or more of a freecarve style board. The all-mountain would work becuase I'm not strictly going to be carving. I need something that I can go all over the place with in all types of terrain. I snowboard with my friends on softboots and I want to be able to keep up with them and go where they go. I don't want to be limited to certain runs and terrain by the type of gear I have. On the other hand I know that when I become more advanced I'm going to want more of a race style board. I can't see myself needing a super stiff full on racing board any time soon but I can see the need for a softer freecarve board. I'm pretty sure that the all-mountain would suit my needs but I would like to know how a freecarve board would fit my style. I also need help deciding which style I should start to look at.
  18. The bindings are at angles where there is 0 overhang. I'll try increasing the lean angle. The bindings don't have a 3rd strap but I'll be sure to crank them. I have them pretty tight most of the time anyway. If I like carving I'm definatly going to look into getting some used gear and trying to rent some of the stuff if I can find it. I'm leaving on the trip today. I hope I have some fun carving. Sadly it would appear the highback adjustments are somewhat broken. I guess that's what you get for buying used gear.
  19. I've been snowboarding for a few years (about 5 or so). I'm fairly good but most of the time I just rent whatever crap the local shops have for me. I'm going on a trip tomorrow and decided it would be better to get a piece of crap board than will last me a little while rather than rent. So I have the board now. On the trip I'm going to try to learn to carve and such. Tonight I set the bindings to a steep angle (45*/30*). I'm not worried about the angle but I was just wondering if you guys had any tips that might help me. Or anything else I can do to make my softboot setup closer to what I would find in a hardboot setup.
