  1. Having a rather extensive weight-lifting background i'd avoid these at all cost... In short-term they are good, but in long-term you'd better train these muscles... Let the nature take care of things...
  2. You can start with a chiropractor, just make sure to divide whatever he tells you by a factor of 5 at least... If he suggest 3 treatments a week, take only 1 to begin with, etc... And make these muscles work on regular basis with some tough basic exercises... Basic means no machines, only free weights and your own body weight...
  3. In a search for an ideal boot I'm getting curious to try some Burtons. Just wondering on their sizing... Generally it's suggested to get Raichles/Deeluxe 1 size smaller than your mondo size. Heads should be matched... I went through both of them and can confirm these recommendations... What about Burtons?
  4. Going through the same pile of horse s##t right now... Lack of exercise and office, paper-piling job it seems... Also, before going riding last saturday, i've been working 2 evenings in a crunched position... so first lift, I feel a little discomfort in my lower back, but I've ignored it and kept riding... dumb ass i was...
  5. The main reason I like Olympia is it's main blue run... Wide-open and not too many bumps, very good for beginners... Downside being it's a blue run, many kids and noobs... So human-gating is a part of the run, but after 8pm you can really push it and dig some bad ass trenches, GS boards are at favor... :-) Besides, given that most carvers are attention whores, there is a very nice, flat and fast run right under the chair-lift... :D
  6. It's not bad, especially the back of the mountain, but the only time i've been there, i've decided it was the last time as well... Massif is only 1.5 hours further...
  7. A couple of thoughts: -no snow tire is really a snow tire without studs -no matter AWD or 2WD, without TRUE snow tires (and with an average driver behind the steering wheel), on icy hill you're f@#$d!!! Plus really bad driving skills... 99.99% of people in case of emergency or if they're loosing control are slamming on the brakes... I've learned the hard way what no to do in these conditions ... And something i've noticed during any major snow fall - people are stupid... They just don't get it and continue to drive as if they were driving on asphalt...
  8. Derf, I've managed to screw up my lower back last Saturday... Couldn't even go to work Monday and Tuesday... Jammed nerve it seems... Felt a little discomfort on my first lift, but I kept riding... dumb ass!!! So I'm off the slopes at least till next week, gonna hit some hero hard pack by that time... I'd get a 190-ish Tanker for these days, no need for a true pow stick, but a long freeride, capable of plowing through pow bumps wouldn't be a bad idea...
  9. After some on-hill comparison I've decided to stick with Suzukas... (besides, i've paid full retail for them...) For sale or for trade a very nice pair of Raichle 225-s with Intuition liners and Booster-straps. Both boots and liners are size 27. I got these boots a few days before Christmas , used twice, but they just don't fit me quite right... Great condition, first thing i've done when I got them, I've serviced the pivots - replaced the stock bolts with socket heads. Treated all the screws with anti-seize as well and redrilled the cable holes for Intec, since they were way too small... I really liked the Booster-straps, and found these boots very comparable to Suzukas, quite a bit stiffer when used with Intuitions though... But easier to get in and out... Intuitions were molded twice by me, used once for 3 runs... Great condition, still have a few molds left in them. Looking to get 150$CAN shipped in Canada + whopping 15$CAN shipped in States... Feel free to email me with any questions or request more pictures. As far as trades go, i'm curious to try Burton Winds in 28-28.5 or UPZ-s in 28... Not that i'm unhappy with Deeluxe, but nothing is perfect... Will gladly accept a pair of SI TD2-s with 3 and 6 cant disk...
  10. It is here!!! We can feel it!!!... got to shovel it as well....
  11. As usual I went to Olympia... Thick iced snow base, with 1/2" iced pellets on top... Not exactly the hero conditions, perfect for bombing down the hill, carvable on softer/longer boards... the exact word would be surfable Better than nothing anyways, 11 trails are open at Olympia... Next time will come later - too many kids...
  12. Since any "soft" board can be used with plates, i'd be looking into stiff freeride-specific boards... In BOL community Tanker seems to be the weapon of choice... Arbor A-Frame would be the second I guess...
  13. So in the essence, all these talks about El-Nino year is a pile of BS... so that population wouldn't have any unnecessary worries while digesting hamburgers...
  14. Last time i've done them, just out of the oven I gave them a good stretch-job and I used some really thick socks... Cooling was really painful, but they came out quite nicely... That's all I can say since I won't be able to test them.. you know why from another thread... ;) Although I've spend some mad time switching and comparing boots/liners and I finally decided to keep 225-s...
  15. I'd ask that question in the main forum...
  16. Here it is The seller actually holds a bootfitting shop at Colorado, so he might be of some help...
  17. :D I was actually getting ready to snipe this one of ebay, but wasn't very sure about the fit... and seller was kinda slow to answer to my questions...
  18. Je ne sais pas a propos de vendredi soir avec l'annonce de la plue, mais samedi soir devrait etre pas pire... Olympia pour moi... 90% j'y vais...
  19. Topic dismissed!!! Got my old boots with standard liners back.... HEAVEN!!! I don't care that stock liners fall apart, I don't care that they are cold and getting wet... What counts is that they feel right!!! I guess I'm one of these rare riders, who's feet prefer the standard liner.. I might give another shot to Thermoflexes one of these days, but for now I'll stick with the stock suzuka liner... Gonna be listing a nice pair of SB225-s tonight... As much as I like them being stiffer than suzukas, they don't feel quite right with the suzuka liner...
  20. Yeah, unfortunately in didn't last... It's snowing right now again, but the current forecast for the afternoon looks really discouraging... Imho no decent riding for another week at least... Moscow, however got a record-breaking 40 cm!!!
  21. YES!!! YES!!! BRING IT ON!!! IT'S FINALLY BLOODY COLD AND IT'S SNOWING IN MONTREAL!!!! YAHOO!!!!!!!
  22. I'd give it a week or two... They've announced tons of cold, and some flurries... But i'm sure we gonna have our revenge... Was talking with Jeff from Colorado yesterday, they get 300 riding days per season!!!!
  23. Ernie, There is always Kitesurfing... Imho fun factor is even greater than in surfing... Oka is 30mins from the city... and you gonna have lot's of fun choosing gear... :D
  24. What's your asking price? Can't e-mail you for some reason...
  25. Looks like they last longer than the plastic ones... Just don't get them out of the liners too often... If shells are comfy - keep them, but I'd replace the liners...
