  1. There's no replacement for displacement. You might enjoy the KLX for a while, but after some time, you'd wished you gone with the DRZ, especially at your size. Do it right the first time!
  2. this hat says more than words can say!!!
  3. Hey Kimo, It was good to see you and meet Cherie on Saturday. It's great to actually see how well you are doing!!!!
  4. What to do in Bozeman? I arrive in Bozeman at 6pm tomorrow and am looking for suggestions for things to do for the evening. What sights, resteraunts, bars... should I checkout during my limited time? Any input is appreciated!
  5. Kimo, you da man!! Congratulations!
  6. f*#$ that! You're crazy! That season is over. Saturday's plan is ~20 miles on the road bike doing a climbing workout, then hit the whitewater park in Golden for a couple hour kayaking session, a visit "The Salesman" in Boulder, then an outdoor birthday party, complete with the bouncy castle, for a four year old, then an evening with the guys watching the UFC fights. Sunday will be spent doing the death march with Mario, Sean and anyone else that joins us, then taking the pups to the dog park, followed by firing up the BBQ and lounging on the deck. Granted, I'm sure lounging on your deck would be more pleasant to the senses, but I'll take what I can get. If it was still winter... the plan would be Saturday - Loveland followed by Sunday - Loveland!
  7. I was too busy riding the elephant crock with over 7,000 other people. You guys up for a ride on Sunday? I am dropping Shelly off in Bergen Park Sunday morning. She's training for the Triple; riding over Squaw, down to Idaho Springs and back. Translation, I will be in Evergreen for the day with nothing to do if you gents feel like riding.:D I might have the dogs with me, but they can hang in the truck for a couple of hours as long as it's not too hot outside.
  8. I've got a spare 12-ft ratchet strap you can have if you think it's big enough.:D
  9. you tease! details? do tell!
  10. Hey, something else that you and Mario have in common!
  11. anytime a little bit, she mostly road rides, but is beginning to see the advantage of shorter rides that make your heart feel like it's about to explode a couple 2x4's, some duct tape and bailing wire and we could have you set
  12. As Mario said, ABSOLUTELY! Shelly has a small Cannondale Rush that you could ride as long as you (6'+) could fit the same geometry as a 5'2" woman. :D The Bontrager would do just fine. We do more technical stuff, which you could do on the hardtail, than distance pounding. This would allow you to catch your breath more often since you are not used to the altitude. And as Mario said, there will be plenty of laughs to be had. I am sure that Inkaholic will be joining us!
  13. I am considering switching to a lighter weight wheel as long as they can withstand my weight and the crappy roads around here. There is no racing involved, riding is just a hobby. With the terrain around here, most of my rides hillclimbs/descents; not much time spent on the flats. Speeds average about 18mph, which translates to 9-10mph on climbs and 40-50mph on descents. I am mainly curious if I can get a strong, lightweight, durable set of wheels without breaking the bank. My concern with having wheels built is the $$$. Right now my wheels are strong and durable, but on the heavier side (~1900g's). The only shells I have really looked at so far are the Ultegra WH-6600-G's. Gecko - thanks for the link. I'll add them to the mix. DB - Definitely like the White Ind hubs! I was checking them out last season. durace - not sure about the CF wheels. How is the ride? It seems to me like they would be stiff as he!!. C5 - Ksyrium SL's look interesting; ~400g's lighter than my wheels. Have you had any issues? Hey smart guy... now that the knee is happy I am working out again. The weight is unchanged, but the clothing is looser in the middle and tighter in the arms/chest and legs. I need to change the diet. Goal #1 is 195 lbs, goal #2 is 190lbs.
  14. Hey Kimo, welcome back! It's good to see that you are doing well
  15. Looking for someplace that has decent roadbike component, specifically wheelsets, reviews. My ALX 280's are strong but bottom of the line. I'm considering upgrading but not having much luck finding decent reviews. Most of the reviews in the magazines are written by 140-170lbs riders. At 200+lbs, "I ain't no petite little flower." I have tried roadbikereview.com, but they have limited reviews. Anyone got any good beta??? TIA
  16. Holy cow, Dave. You're too young for that crap. Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery. Aloha, Dustin
  17. Best wishes, Kimo. Hope the surgery is/was successful. Dustin

    Closing day

Had a great time today. It was great to see everyone. Have a great off-season. Shelly and Dustin
  19. Little help please. There is a lovely Rossi for sale on eBay. It comes with a lovely set of "Bomber" bindings, see pic. Obviously this Power-Seller doesn't know WTF they are talking about. If you have a spare moment, send the seller an educational note. No offense to Burton owner's, just don't want the Bomber name defaced.
  20. I'm saying this since Bomber does not sell Oxygen boards... you might contact Bola and see if he is selling his demos

    Closing day

We are talking about . Everybody bring your own food. Mario will bring the grill. We'll definitely keep it low-key.
  22. Your baseplate is ~95% on the Hangl. Keep your hardware tight (which you should check regularly anyway) and you won't have any issues.
  23. they sure is purdy!
  24. Got afternoon commitments, so we'll (she'll likely change her mind and it'll be just me ;)) start early and leave around noon.
  25. that may be true about CK, but DB is in his late twenties
