  1. I had my first day on Sunday - also at Meadows.

I didn't expect it to feel so foreign to strap on a board again. I couldn't ride at all for the first two runs: caught the front edge 20 feet into my first run, and on my second run, I hooked up the heelside when I didn't expect to and almost murdered two kids on skis.

My first day was like this: Toeside edge of trail and fall, heelside to trees and fall. repeat, repeat annnnnd repeat for 1.5 hrs. Took brief respite and figured it out. I still fall but not as much.

  2. Suddenly there were 7 of us, 4 bol'ers, Dt, Inkaholic, snowboardsfast(welcome back!) and myself, joined by lovey regulars Shelly, Bob, and his son Jeff. Due to a lift malfunction, we found ourselves with a semi private slope, which we proceeded to carve up like thanksgiving turkey. It was a dream come true, nearly perfect groom, sunny blue skies, pleasent temps, and no wind. I included a picture of the carnage left by the aforementioned band of carving hooligans, and another catching three of them in the act(Bottom to top: Inkaholic, D.T., and Snowboardsfast)

  3. Doneks tend to be on the stiff side,my '77axxes is a 7, and my '79 fcII is an 8.5 I am 240, and I have not folded the nose on it in 10 days of riding so far.

I think you'd be okay going with the med flex. Mike T is about 190 and has been riding doneks for years, you might want to pm him with any questions.

  4. I have a season pass to loveland and mostly ride the weekends. If the snow is hard I will be out on a race board. If not I will be riding my freeride set up that will trench with most of the carvers that frequent loveland. I hope to see you up there sometime. I also mtb with Evergreen mtn as my back yard. Maybe we can pedal sometime also.

    Aloha,

    Derek

    Hey Derek,

We keep running into pat up there, but I haven't seen you yet. I would like to make some turns with you this season. Pete's in argentina, so the crew has been down a member. I will be up on sunday and I think D.t. and Shelly will be up there to.

  5. I have an older 179fcII(03) and a brandy new 177 axxes, and at 240 they are plenty stiff tip to tail and are a blast to ride, the axxes being a little more forgiving than the fc. I can bend the axxes, which is a 7 on seans scale, but it is still stiff enough on soft snow to blow out a carve if you are not paying attention and really drive it. They both hold like crazy, especially if you inadvertantly end up in the back seat :o. My opinion may be biased, but I think it is well worth giving sean a call

  6. I would love to hit wolfie with you rdy, but it is just alittle too far for a weekend jaunt., and I am almost out of vacation days.

the weekend??Ugh, Need to get a swallow tail pow board!

We get it, you don't like to ride on the weekend. So you are heading to vail on an epic midweek powder day to ride your broken volant (see ride board)on the groom. I am slightly confused. Oh well, enjoy that anyway.

  7. On a powder day under 8 at loveland layin' out big ol' lazy gs turns in the deep on my tanker and then hitting the groom at mach 1 and diggin' deep ol' trenches on the same run. One of my favorite ways to spend a saturday.

I started skiing 25 years ago at vernon valley and camelback, and I in no way miss that east coast "packed powder"
