  1. I do use a toe lift and it does counteract the internal ramp. Before I installed the BTS I would pivot my boot back as far as I could and then lock that position. That is how I first marked the setup. No matter how tight I made the springs I could not fully adjust the cuff back. We have been hammered with Lake effect 8"-12" the last few days [For SE Michigan that is a decent amount of snow] so my next step is to try out the new set-up.
  2. Yes, I need to reduce the distance between the lower mount and the upper block. Great idea. I am going to use a high durometer rubber spacer to allow some measure of flex.
  3. I thought of that but it is 0.875" thick and I only needed 0.25" of movement. I think I will look for a solid block of high durometer material [rubber] to replace the lower spring and provide some measure of "backward" compliance. A solid block cut to length would be easier to dial-in than fiddling with spring rates AND would allow me to modify the upper spring as desired.
  4. This is the best option if material was available in the lower end. Unfortunately the only option is in the upper end. I would need the spring seat moved up in the upper block to accommodate the required geometry while maintaining the full length spring. The problem is not the BTS. The problem is that even with the lower nut against the lower block and the top spring under extreme tension the boot cuff digs into my calf. Correct me if I am wrong but I would rather have forward range of motion with a moderately tightened top spring than backward motion and an extremely tightened top spring if I could align the boot back but I cannot. The attached BTS installation image shows the lower adjustment nut above the lower block which tells me that my setup is outside the target design space. If someone has access to a machine shop I would gladly test out a prototype with the spring seat in the upper block moved up 0.375". Thanks for your feedback.
  5. I ended up cutting 0.25" off of a short blue [320 lbs/in] and added a washer. I used a long red [340 lbs/in] on top because a long blue [140 lbs/in] was too soft to move the boot back. I am going to run the setup and see how it performs and then buy a set of new springs thru a work account.
  6. Thanks for the feedback. Short term I am going to grind the spring since we just got 6"-10" fresh snow today and I need to go Saturday. Long term I am going to buy some springs from McMaster Carr after I spend some time to pick out the correct size & spring rate.
  7. Before I grind 3/16" off the length of the bottom spring I would like to know if anyone has a different method to bring the boot back down to my comfort line shown in the attached pictures.
  8. Without a trailing brake or rigid footrests robust to the potential compression loads if a foot engages the slope at any significant velocity, it looks like a spiral fracture generator.

  10. You talk a good game but I for one have yet to sample the goods. Forget the slopes and carve up some brisket!
  11. PoziDriv is a square cornered slot. Phillips is a tapered slot. Use a Phillips and risk stripping the PoziDriv fastener. I picked up a Burton snowboard multi-tool end of last season which included a #3 PoziDriv driver. Before that I struggled to find one locally.
  12. Time for a new thread to refocus on the end game. I have been to the past two ATC's and left both sessions physically drained because I tend to run top to bottom without a break AND stoked about how much better it would be the next time if I could increase my skill level. This will be my fourth season with hard boots and I need to break out of my "Expert Beginner" status. I was lucky enough to meet up with a local carver who I have adopted as a coach so I picked up a season pass to a local bump for training sessions. So I am stoked. My goal is to suck it up; stop riding the side-cut; put the board on edge and angulate with my body as much as I do in my minds eye. So Are you stoked? What is your goal?
  13. I'll second the request for some ATC dates!
  14. We always won the race at the start!
  15. Although the boats are insanely fast, like a giant moth, I would love to see the 12 meters heeled over again.
  16. 1:50 to 2:06 Same motion on my windsurfer in much smaller waves but the cutback curl I seek on my board riding undulations down the slope. Pure Stoke!
  17. After three seasons in hard boots I am at a fork in the road. I am drawn toward the second clip. Is it a straight shot there or is it the maturation of the first? https://youtu.be/VNOwTgOP8Rs Credits go to Cory Dyck, Larry Castruita and Mike Doyle and of course Donek for the 1st video clip.
  18. It's on their website. Flown Southwest twice to Denver. 2 bags per traveler + carry-on+personal bag that fits under the seats. Allowed to substitute one container of gear [over-sized snow sport equipment exception] for one bag. Must be less than 50 lbs or there is an up-charge. Supposed to be able to pair a boot bag with the gear bag at no additional charge but have not tried.
  19. I'm only reacting to the picture and the quote. To fix the problem either reduce the inputs OR become robust to them. A couple times a year over a low volume indicates a higher than (1:1,000,000) failure rate.
  20. There is a clue wrapped around the front bail. The resilient tape allows the front of the boot to rise off the binding and the back of the boot to rotate down around the two rear screws. Forget the slot bevels and use a pan head bolt in order to increase the section modulus. May have to offset the heel clip to accommodate the bolt but there definitely needs to be additional material to carry the load.
  21. Tomorrow is the last day for a 20% discount thru Snowmass Hospitality.
  22. Apparently If you login from a Colorado IP you can buy the Classic Pass online. 7 day pass for $389 plus $5 for ID card. Had my niece login from her house in Denver, had to send her a mug shot to submit with the purchase. 7 days for $55/day. Savings paid for my flight.
