  1. Speedzilla said it best... I smile and laugh at them. My complete confidence that I'm having more fun than they are disarms them.
  2. In November, 1986 I was skiing(hate to admit it) at Vail and I saw a snowboarder carving nice round complete turns. He was there for the Nastar pacesetter trials. I remember this registered with me because he was making a cleaner carved turn on his board than I could make on skis. That was my first time seeing a snowboarder carve. I'm sure that is late in snowboard history. During the 80s I lived at an area that did not allow boarding so I wasn't exposed to the early days of the sport.
  3. If you go to the USASA Nationals, you'll see lots of kids on soft boots carving up a storm in the GS and SL events. I saw an 18 yr old kid on his soft setup and baggy clothes stay turn for turn in the Parallel format against his apponent who was on hard boots, a racing board and wearing a GS suit. The kid could carve...he ripped.
  4. Okay Skwalleur, If you're smart, you'll delete your post and NEVER...EVER mention that asym board again on this forum. Don't admit you own it. Don't suggest you would ever ride it. Just back up, delete the post and run for your life. You've been warned :D
  5. Groovastic, You've asked a question that can polarize the forum. There does seem to be a bias towards very long, very stiff boards with a high side-cut radius number. And yes, there are a lot of perfectly groomed pistes in America where you can let a long board go very fast. One question is: Are these long boards being used on mainly flatter intermediate and beginner pistes? You will have to ask this question to those advocating the long boards. My favorite all time board is a 180 with an 11m side-cut. That board is stable yet I can turn it easily. I enjoy making complete turns more than pointing a board down the hill so I enjoy smaller side cut radius. I also enjoy steeper runs. I have a shorter board, 158 and an intermediate board, 168 and a longer board, 180. I enjoy them equally and make different size turns depending on which one I am riding. I consider all my boards to be "good stuff."
  6. Pokkis, You mentioned Oxygen. Are they still being manufactured?
  7. I'm curious why F2 is seldom talked about on this forum. Donek, Prior and Madd are talked about as if they are the standard of excellence while F2 gets very little "buzz."
  8. Is my post invisible? Again, I ask, "How much is a Kessler? Where would you buy one?"

  10. What's the sidecut radius of a skwal?

  12. Seems like the rooster was the logo for "Equipe de France" which meant it was equipment that sponsored the French ski team. Way back when the rooster was also on other French ski brands like Dynamic, Dynastar and Lacroix as well as gloves and boots...or am I dreaming this up?
  13. To me, a good surf video has lots of beautiful girls in bikinis. It should be the same for snowboarding videos...and calendars. I've seen some great motorcycle calendars with a beautiful girl in each picture...lack of "action" pics didn't offend me at all. I think D-sub has the right idea. I just wish I could see more of her....uh...boots.
  14. You look great!!!! Where are the pics taken?
  15. what happens when you hit a chuck-hole?
  16. You are doing the right thing carpet boarding. You can learn a lot about your mechanics doing that. You can set up next to a sofa so you can get into an angulated position with the sofa supporting you. You might try putting your front foot in the binding and leaving the back foot out. Then get into an angulated position and see where your back foot "wants" to be. In other words, let your back foot find it's natural stance. Or, move the back foot fore and aft and see what feels natural...more heal lift, less heal lift, canted or not.
  17. You know, I remember watching Kevin Delaney carving and racing on the F2 Beamer WC and he certainly wasn't bending at the waist...maybe he didn't know how bad that board would be for his development. :D
  18. I tried a 172 f2 silberpfeil last year and thought it was fantastic. It held very well on hard snow but was also easy and smooth in softer snow. You can check out the different lengths and stats at the B.O.L. store. For eastern riding the silberpfeil seems like a good choice.
  19. Actually, a board I never owned but tried and it was sweet on groom or in powder was the Burton Asym Air. That's a board I'd use if I had one.
