  1. Here are the vital statistics: 172 Oxygen SCR-14m, Tip-23.8, Waist-19.5, Tail-23.8 $120 + ship Sold This 172 Protons is a great board. I love it. Turning, stability, edge hold...I think the Protons are really underrated...IMHO. So why am I selling it? Because I have a brand new one sitting in my closet and it's time to thin out the quiver. The 172 has 15 to 20 days on it and has a little normal wear. Shipping would be coming from Oregon and $25 more or less...ground would be like $15 on the west coast and more like $25 on the east coast. You can email me directly at: timoteo65@yahoo.com or post to this thread.
  2. Yes, it does. I weigh 140lbs and am not hard on my boards. I ride out west on hero snow so there wasn't a constant boiler plate vibration going on.
  3. The f2 has sold. You may ask others but I would say that you may want a softer flexing board for your weight at 115lbs.
  4. The funniest thing I ever saw was the look on the faces of all the arrogant skiers who had dismissed and "dissed" snowboarding for years when they figured out that they were now in the minority and totally un-cool.
  5. Great riding and also great camera work...your camera operator deserves some props.
  6. I think it is around 2002 or 2003. I'm not sure. I'm sure there are experts on BOL that can tell us.
  7. Here are the vital statistics: 172 Oxygen SCR-14m, Tip-23.8, Waist-19.5, Tail-23.8 $150 + ship This 172 Proton is a great board. Turning, stability, edge hold...I think the Protons are really underrated...IMHO. So why am I selling it? Because I have a brand new sitting in my closet and it's time to thin out the quiver. The 172 has 15 to 20 days on it and has a little normal wear. Shipping would be coming from Oregon and $20 more or less...I prefer FedEx ground which would be $15 on the west coast and more like $30 on the east coast. Send me your zip code for exact shipping cost. You can email me directly at: timoteo65@yahoo.com or post to this thread.
  8. ...that F2 would be perfect and it is a good price considering the board and it's condition. :D
  9. Here are the vital statistics: 178 Oxygen SCR-14m, Tip-24.0, Waist-19.5, Tail-24.0 $175 + ship Sold 172 Oxygen SCR-14m, Tip-23.8, Waist-19.5, Tail-23.8 $160 + ship sold 149 Oxygen SCR-8.5m, Tip-24.2, Waist-19.4, Tail-24.2 $90 + ship Sold 158 F2 Speedster SCR-9.2, Tip-24.5, Waist-19.5, Tail-24.5 $175 + ship Sold The 178 and 172 Protons are great boards. I love them both. Turning, stability, edge hold...I think the Protons are really underrated...IMHO. So why am I selling them? Because I have a brand new one of each sitting in my closet and it's time to thin out the quiver. The 178 has One day on it and is in perfect condition. The 172 has 15 to 20 days on it and has a little normal wear. The 149 Proton is a nice board. It is a softer flex than others I have seen so it would be a good board for a woman or kid (ie lighter weight rider) The 158 Speedster is a great board that I love. Turning, stability, edge hold...most would agree that F2s are very good boards. I'm also selling this board because I have another one and I need to thin the quiver. This Speedster has about 8 days on it. Shipping would be coming from Oregon and $25 more or less...I prefer FedEx ground which would be $15 on the west coast and more like $30 on the east coast. You can email me directly at: timoteo65@yahoo.com or post to this thread.
  10. Last year at SES I asked a group of the Europeans how Aspen compared to the areas in Europe since I'd never ridden in Europe. They looked at me smiling and said, "We're here aren't we." And they were there...50 or more strong. I agree with them...terrain, groom, quality of snow, variety, lack of crowds - Aspen rules.
  11. Is this discussion about "defensive" riding or who creates the problem? The skier's code states that it is the responcibility of the rider/skier uphill. I respect that rule while riding and when I catch up to slower people, I pull off to the side and wait or slide slip past them...why can't a skier do that? Friday, I came up on a 4 yr old making slow turns across 2 or 3 lanes. His father was 5 yards uphill of him running interference (as he should do). I saw this and pull off to the side about 30 yards above them (long before I had come into their awareness). I look up the hill and see a stong intermediate skier going faster than his ability. He is turning across one lane so he is not a total bomber but I start wincing at what is about to happen because a continuation of the rythm of his turns predicts a close call. He did not alter his line one inch and flew by the 4 yr old and missed him by 10 ft. Heaven forbid that his run should be interupted by the erratic behavior below him. If the 4 yr old had been hit, should I have arrived on the scene and said, "I saw the whole thing and you weren't looking up the hill, Kid." But in all fairness, I think this thread is about the concept of "self-preservasion" and "defensive" riding. Well, of course, we should all practice that and always try to be aware of what or who is around us. Winning the argument of whose fault it was is small consolation if you are lying in the snow with broken bones. But, as for me, I continue to practice the Skier's Code and try to be a good citizen on the slopes.
  12. Those are nice pictures. You Estonians know how to lay 'em out.
  13. Dustin, This is proof that I'm totally out of the loop. I'm just now learning about this. What run was it on? Tim
  14. Dan and Mike, Please email me so I can attach a file to you.
  15. We went to Hollywood video and rented "Infernal Affairs." My wife and I really enjoyed "The Departed" so after this thread's discussion, we decided to watch it. It's good and I have to give kudos to the origin of a very intriguing story but we both like "The Departed" much better. We thought the character development in "The Departed" is stronger and the new ending is really powerful.
  16. Does anyone use the "brushies" for training or races. They have got to be the easiest and lightest to set and they won't hurt your shin.
  17. Have you thought about setting a snowboarder only course using the "brushie" gates. They are stubbies with a nylon brush sticking out of the top. They don't fit into anyone's rule book but they are cheap, easy to set, and easy to carry.
  18. You need to consider Mt. Bachelor, OR. Conditions in April and May are consistently good...so much so that national teams come there even in May to train. April often has winter conditions and powder. There are a few great areas in eastern BC which is farther north but you need to check if they are open 7 days a week after March. Mt. Bachelor is open 7 days and starts running the lifts at 8am at some point in the spring. Also, during April and May you can participate in the Oregon Bi-athalon (ride in the morning and play golf in the afternoon).
  19. The Da Vinci Code is an example of a movie that should have been done on TV as a multi episode movie. A 2 or 3 hour feature was not able to do it justice. I still consider Lonesome Dove as one of the best "movies" ever made.
  20. The Nativity is a very good movie. There is no surprise ending...I mean we all know the story but, as it is told in the movie, it is very intriguing because it tells more about Mary and Joseph and their families and their life in that era than most of us know about. The acting and casting is perfect but perhaps the most striking thing is that it is a visually beautiful movie and probably deserved recognition from the acadamy for cinematography...but, then I wasn't holding my breath for Hollywood to embrace the movie. It did not do well at the box office but I suspect it will be reshown around Christmas time for years to come.
  21. I'm curious, for those that have a problem with violence or are uncomfortable with violence - did any of you see: "St. Ralph", "Akeela and the Bee" or "The Nativity"?
