  1. P06781, I live in PDX also. Let's car pool up. Email me: timoteo65@yahoo.com Tim
  2. When I was a kid I had to walk to the ski area carrying my board...in the snow...ten miles...uphill...both ways.
  3. Went up to Mt. Hood (Ski Bowl) today and they have a few inches of new snow and it was snowing off and on. Ski Bowl's at 4000 ft so Timberline was getting more. Who knows what the next 6 weeks hold but so far so good for late spring conditions.
  4. Speaking of racing, the USASA nationals are going on now at Angel Fire, New Mexico. The conditions are abysmal. 5% of the mountain is open. They pushed snow onto 4 runs to keep them open for the events. Now those runs are closed for the SL, GS, BX and Slpe Style. So there is very little left to ride on. The competitors are basically sitting at the top of the course waiting for their run and then going in. Since the races are held on runs not normally used for racing, they are having timing problems. On the plus side, the super pipe is in very good shape, the GS course was well set and...uh...that's about it for the plus side.
  5. Meant to also say May 13-16 is good for me and I'll be there. The conditions that time of year can be great.
  6. I live in Portland and will be there. Just keep up the forum chat when you set the specific dates. To answer a question below about the salt: Yes, the salt can damage equipment but mainly ski bindings. It can corrode the moving parts and affect release. I suppose it could corrode board bindings but they are easily washed off after riding unlike the internals of a ski binding. Not to be negative about Mt. Hood but the most damaging thing to the boards is when the snow is dirty with pumice dust. This is usually not a problem until later in the summer. As more and more of the snow melts on the mountain, the pumice rock is exposed. If a wind storm kicks up, the dust spreads out over the snow you are boarding on. I was up there once in late July and the snow was coated with pumice after a windy night. The snow was reddish brown. The pumice is very abrasive and does a job on your edges and base....Ski binding release is really affected by the pumice getting into the mechanism...but not my problem. Tim
  7. Help me out. I have some boards but don't know what sidecut radius they are: 155 Nitro Scorpion: tipwidth-24.7cm, waist-19.4cm, tail-24.4cm with the running length of 138.5cm 163 Nitro Scorpion: tipwidth-24.7cm, waist-19.8cm, tail-24.2cm with the running length of 146 178 Hooger: tipwidth-24.4cm, waist-17.8, tail-22.8cm with the running length of 161 Thanks to anyone who can convert those specs into sidecut radius'. tim
