  1. They rent them in Steamboat! They also rent ones that are full suspension downhill bikes but with skis instead of wheels!
  2. There is a guy named Theo who I think still lives in Mammoth, he is a great carver and racer and really nice person. You are right about the F2 Speedster being stiff and more of a race board. While it is a great board and I own one myself it is definitely not the easiest to learn on but can be very fun later on. Donek can make you a very nice board and they are good prices too, I have a few of their boards and I am very happy with them. But of course you can't go wrong with other great boards like Coiler, Virus, Kessler, SG, Prior, Oxess, or whatever other modern board there is out there. Also about the Donek videos, most of that you do not have to know if you just want to have fun on your board and it probably won't make you better but it is nice to know how your board works!
  3. http://www.alpinecarving.com/tmtd2/ this should do what you want
  4. I would take a look at the Deeluxe boots, possibly Head but I can not say anything about them because I have not owned them. UPZ is also very nice but have a very narrow heel but are very slightly wider around the rest of the foot. Deeluxe is kind of the opposite although I can't notice a difference in toe box width but definitely the heel. Bomber sells Deeluxe so you can check them out and read up on them to decide what might work best for stiffness
  5. Yeah that's what it was the Insano. That's strange my ride boots have always been great
  6. Deeluxe vicious. Also Ride makes a pretty stiff boot (at least I thought it was stiff) I forget which one it was though, whatever was the stiffest in their lineup.
  7. Some guy as I'm walking to my car:"hey look it's that monoskier!" Me: "No actually it is a snowboard, not a monoski. It's called alpine snowboarding" He then began to go on this long talk about how expensive his snowboard is (just your typical freestyle board) Man I really hate those monoski comments...
  8. Tell us a little more about your feet. Like what shape they are. Wide foot, narrow ankle, etc. because some boots fit better for different feet.
  9. On one board I have one of those Dakine stomp pads, an old red one! But I usually just kick the snow off on my binding because I don't like how the stomp pads look, I know it's dumb but I am funny about how my boards look I will never even put stickers on my boards haha. But the Dakine stomp pads work best. Not sure what boots you use but if you think the fin tecs are slippery the standard heel and toe pieces on UPZ are even worse I constantly slip in them!
  10. Those are great boots and bindings! Those were the boots I started in but I replaced them with the UPZ. For the boards the F2 is great, I own a 2012 speedster and it is a good board that is fast and carves well. I have not rode the El Diablo but it is wider so you can use lower angles which would probably be a bit easier learning, it would also go more places and it could probably be ridden in powder too (I would not do it on my speedster). But personally I would go for the extra length of the speedster but that's just me, I never ride smaller than a 157 just because to me it feels awkward, I don't know how tall you are but I am just a bit lighter and 170cm tall. But go with whatever you think you will be comfortable on and pick the board for what you want to do. The speedster will probably be a little stiffer and it should have better hold on the groomers but the El Diablo will be a do anything board that should carve well too and be easier to flick around and make tighter turns. Hope that helps
  11. Haha that's a good one. Right now I think Steamboat riders have the best chance. I can't think of anyone from another team
  12. Have fun, don't fall into tree wells, don't fall into a crevasse...
  13. That's true, I did not notice that because I was on my phone. Yeah don't order a Donek haha it would cost as much as an Oxess by the time you received it! Get what you want and can afford, find what works for stance then just have fun with it! That's the most important thing is that you are happy with what you buy and have a good time!
  14. This. Like I said check out the Donek Pilot it is a great price for a new alpine board and it is built custom for you, that will be your cheapest way to get a new board that will last you more than one season. You can also look for a used board and just make sure it was built for someone around your weight.
  15. And a shot of me racing my board Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Here's my new board! Donek REV 180 with a p-tex topsheet. My GS race board for the year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. There is not really a chart. Just go by whatever the board maker says for weight range and you should start on a shorter Slalom board (157-164). I would say don't go smaller than a 157 and I would really recommend that you check out the Donek snowboards, specifically the pilot it is a great beginner board and will make you happy even after you have the technique down, my brother actually designed the pilot topsheet and I race on the REV. Also you should start out in real snowboard hard boots rather than ski boots they just have better flex for snowboard and are smaller in length. When you get your gear check back here for help with binding angle, cant/lift, or anything else! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Ok yeah I have seen the world cups before. Haha I would not want to use them on my REV but on an older board. But if they are long plate I sadly will not be buying them because I wear size 25 boots. Bummer these are cool I would have liked them
  19. Sent the payment the night before last on the Prior. Can't wait to get the board, thanks S.SDad!
  20. Im interested. What colour are they? It is hard to tell. When were they made. Pretty cool, I have not seen these before. Are they long plate or short
  21. Ok, I will take it. You can email me with the address in my last post to you so I can know how to pay you. Thanks!
  22. Well that sounds like the one I would want then. Let me know if it is still available and if it is we can email and talk about payment. Email is Sagewashabaugh@gmail.com
  23. I am interested in the Prior without the binding marks. How do you think the flex would be for a 60kg racer?
