  1. Nick, previous to last season the Starting Gate @ Stratton (Bondville,Vt) was pretty much the only place I know of on the EC to try and buy Alpine boots. I checked them out during ECES (for liners) and they were pretty much out of everything and unfortunately (for us) it sounded like they were getting out of carrying Alpine equipment :(

Try giving Equipe Ski & Snowboard Shop @ Stratton Mtn. a call. Ask to talk to Sean or Steph.I talked a little with Sean & Steph @ Equipe about the lack of Alpine Equipment if TSG dropped it, and they said they were working on the store owner to stock :) some Alpine gear. I think ECES did a lot to show him interest, hopefully enough to add it to their stock in the future. The East Coast needs an Alpine Outlet.

Personally for boots, I would not buy anything without trying them on. Hopefully others can supply you with better / more information.

  2. I need a good grade of aluminum for a project, Preferably 7075-T6 or 2024-T6, 3/16" (.190") plate, or something equal in strength. I've called around to my local suppliers & shops in my area with NO luck. Does anyone here have any idea where I can find it? Any shops that do aviation fabrication, or a friend of a friend that knows Joe's uncle may work? Cut offs, small pieces would work, I only need (6) pieces roughly 7" x 9", or a strip 1' x4' that I can cut them out of.

Thanks :) for any input, jp1

  3. wannabealpiner, I'm pretty sure Bomber in Silverthorne has anything you'll need. Grab the number here and call Fin or Michelle.

Also, I know 'All Board Sports' in Boulder (ask for Bola) has a fleet of equipment, not positive he has rentals, but worth a call.

I'm NOT positive about either. I'm sure one of the regulars will jump in to give you the 'real deal'. Great Bunch in the area! Good Luck, you'll love it....

  4. Don, :biggthump. Looking forward to hooking up with you again Dec 7th. Since you got stuck with me the first day :freak3: last year, you're elected again this year :D.

Seriously 'dude', Good Luck whatever you do !!

  5. :freak3:I'm a pedaler, that's how I was taught :biggthump.

I personally don't believe all things that are good for racing are good for recreational riding. Sorta like driving an F1 car to work (which I wouldn't mind trying).

I'll try a single Plate System, one thing I have learned in life is, never count something out (as many do) until you've tried it.

lowrider wrote, "Anyone want to admit your a peddler and want to try one ???" I'd be interested in trying two, not one :biggthump.

  6. Jose & Stephane, Great hearing from you guys! :biggthump

Thanks Jose, I just looked into Eagle, actually would be more costly.

I can do RT, Southwest (free luggage) nonstop from Philly to Denver for $340. Shuttle from Denver to Aspen is $100 each way.

American (with funky times) RT, Newark to Eagle nonstop, $378 (+ extra for luggage). Shuttle from Eagle to Aspen $76 each way.

United, RT, Newark to Eagle nonstop $440 (+ extra for luggage) + $76 Shuttle@ way.

I figured if I were going to pay $200 for a shuttle and be without wheels (us hicks need wheels) I may as well check out a rental. Rental = $400, so if I can find one person it would pretty much be a wash like Angie said in her post, others would be a savings.

Thanks for the info (I'll keep looking) good to know I won't really NEED wheels (although I can't imagine a week without them) hope to see you there if not somewhere on the Ice Coast.

  7. I'm seriously :D thinking about SES 2011 and thought I'd post it here, hoping to find someone else in the area interested.

Trying to find someone (or more) to split the costs of accomodations and rental car to and from Denver to Aspen.

    Any Interest ?

    John

  8. They have to be 'the best investment' (along with the Head boot mods) I've made in Hardbooting :biggthump to me the boots are everything. Big :D every time I flex them........

kieran, if you get a couple bucks extra and want to experiment, buy some other springs and try different conbinations, you may end up with a bigger grin !

'instead of the boot warping around the ankle cable, it is pivoting at the ankle joint, and in a controllable manner too.' Amazing isn't it, when something works properly.

  9. From experience: Both people have to work at a relationship, one person can not do it alone.

If the other person has their mind made up, you can't do anything to change it, so don't beat yourself up trying!

"Moving forward and building on the relationships I can" makes sense. Time and patience (and some good times on the hill) will be your allies, Good Luck.

  10. ink, I wasn't sure what was going to happen with the ankle  so was putting it off.

Now feel I'm looking at a full recovery so I need to start looking at airfare, lodging & getting into shape (other than 'round').

Probably be early Dec. (like last year) hopefully 8-10 days :biggthump.

You going to have full coverage this time around? Looking forward to riding with the LCI again! May even try to hook up with the Bomber Crew and expand my horizons, if invite is still open!

Man I'd love :) to see the area open 100%, beautiful country & I wanna ride over that tunnel (no wind over there right ). Bringing a resume for Coor's this time, may even send it ahead of time!
