  1. My Nikon F80 D-80 in the US will do this in camera by allowing for multi exposure for a set number of frames underexposed so you don't blow out the background, without advancing the film. Tripod Multi layer in Photoshop and simply rub out the holes for each image you want to keep and leave the background . Mozz
  2. My humble wish I'd like have a BIG Lotto win so I could fullfill a dream of creating a resort dedicated to Physically and Mentally challenged, so they may enjoy a sample of what most of us take for granted. 2nd on the list would be to take my invalid wife and our kids to see some of the wonderous places around the world that I was fortunate enough to see during my travels in my 20's. 3. The thing that concerns me with gondola's not that we use them here in Oz in the daytime is the potential for edge base and topsheet damage. Anyone had problems with this?
  4. Scott you managed to scrape a lot of info up in a short period of time , now scrape some pennies together and come to Colorado and the SES we'll get ya "Zoomin the groom. " like a snow magician. And D-Sub is spot on you should be able to find boots that come up form time to time , just make sure the shells are in tact and replace the liner's as nessesary to conform to your feet. Enjoy the world of the carver.
  5. Mine is 31 so you can see why it took me ages to find boots :)
  6. Welcome aboard Scott . I'm kinda new here too well sorta and I noted with interest your first post. I too just liked to rip clean and smoothly , nuthin fancy. but have never felt comfortable with binding angles that are considered the Norm for all mountain Freestyle/ride boards. I had originally set my front foor at 30 and 18 on the rear foot. was the most clean and natural feel to me. I got chuckled at untill my local board retailer and friend of Fins told me it was more carve than freeride , well the rest is history and now I use my TD2's on both my Custom 68 and Race 85 , I kinda doubt I'll ever use softies again. 7. I was thinking the same thing I have Dianese but have seen this gear up close and it is very similar in what it offer's Looks like good sruff. Mozz
  8. My 185 and 189 would be totally out then by the sound of that. Mozz
  9. Step one toss that f'in cordless drill come screwdriver away. ( Personal preference I suppose but I have seen too many inserts ripped out or cross threaded with power tools). You could try to set around 58 on the front if it suits you and no les than 50 on the back with I'd say 3 Degree forward cant and 1 deg heel lift on the rear foot. This really depends on what feels comfortable and centers you on the board. Experiment is the key and I know it's easy for me to say this and that but I'd be aiming to not have any more than a 10-20 deg angle from vertical till you hit boot and edge , in other words ideally you don't want boot outside the vertical line up from the edge . check out jacks setup in the files section. If you like a wider stance you can cant your front foot rearward too as I do but that is a personal taste. If your board is canted to the toe side you will carve ripper's on the heel side but drag your toes trying to get it to really crank the toe side. I run 60 front and 56 on the back 3 deg cant for on rear and 3 deg canr rear on the front with a 21 inch stance. centered on the board this will likely need to be changed for Aspen conditions I don't know yet. I hope this helps
  10. I'd hazzard a guess at the fact that the heel and toe bail blocks are set too far out and that is why the toe bail won't go over-centre as it should . I'd be doing some experimentation with where the blocks are and see if you can find a solution. Mozz
  11. This may seem a silly question but what are the current Transport Arrangements between mountain areas at SES and the various Apres parties planned . ?
  12. I edited this into my previous Post :) Mozz
  13. Q#1: WHY CARVE? I carve because I love it basically , it's that simple. Ask the same question of a Motorcyclist riding on a twisty mountain road, you'll most likely get a similar answer. I'ts the purist form of expression and transference of unergy from the rider to the board that flows from within as you glide into turn after turn with style and grace that some Jibber's could never understand, leaving near perfect curved arcs cut into the slope behind you. I have had injuries to my ankles riding off road Motor cycles and while I still ride All mountain setup with SI Soft Boot I much prefer the directness and control I get with Hard and Carve setup. You ask " Why I carve " , well it's like the Jeep Slogun, "If you have to ask, then you wouldn't understand" Q#2: DO YOU FEEL LIMITED BY YOUR EQUIPMENT OR STANCE? No I don't feel limited because I haven't reached the end of the tuning and setup curve. To me a Hard Boards setups ie Freecarve GS-Race etc are the F1 of Snowboarding. There is a lot of ajustability in the current equipment available and you have to know your snow conditions and like F1 Pit crew vary your stance width and angles, Heel and toe lift to maximise your performance for the given conditions. This is the best way I know of maximising your input to get the best out of what Nature and gravity have given us to enjoy and use. I now regularly ride my all mountain board with the hardboot setup and I constantly have a chuckle when I see rider's having a yard sale on an ice patch after I've simply cut straight across it. There is an infinate amount of ajustability in modern equipment in terms of width of stance , angles of stange stiffness of boots Q#3: WHAT COULD SKI AREAS DO TO MAKE THE CARVING EXPERIENCE BETTER? Not having the same variety or resort areas as my Carving counterparts in the US and Europe, I'd have to say that Some slope areas could be set aside for speed skiing and Carvers and mutual respect developed like the terrain park areas here. Placing restricted area signs on some runs could possibly work but I doubt it. Q#4: WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THE IDEA THAT CARVERS ARE AN ENDANGERED SPECIES? Oh geez thats a bit strong, I know that carver's only make a small portion of the snow sport scene but isn't that what people said about Snowboarding in the early days. And now we see so many areas where crossover's in technology have occured in snow sports. Like carve SKi's having similar shape to all mountain and GS Boards. Advances in hardboots. and now with companies like Flow and Tierney producing skate boards I'd say it will quite possible bring more riders to the Carve scene as well as snowboarding in general. I'm trying to do my damndest to raise the Profile of carving in Australia mainly because it's is nearly unheard of , maybe I'll start a craze down here. I'm trying to get a local resort on side for this season coming. Q#5: WHAT'S THE WORST THING ABOUT BEING A CARVER? Probably the fact it is very hard to find carve specific gear that is available in Australia. Given this and if I get enough interest through the Ozcarve Web Site, I'll seriously consider importing for local rider's. Mozz Maurie King, Snowy Mountains, Australia.
  14. DHL or FED ex is the best for large stuff OS I've not had a problem,
  15. Update PB are to set up a interview and hopefully the AES may well become reality and co-incide with the Coca Cola Wild Winter Weekend. :) Mozz
  16. Burton Factory Prime 178 I believe is around 15.5 meter radius My Race 185 is 15.14 Mozz
  17. The recon Riser is a wicked Allmountain board and if you have never used hard boots of Carved befoer I personally believe it would be a great step . They are stiff BUT more forgiving than a try Alp board and the side cut is friendlier to start off . Give it a try you might be surprised.
  18. No question Second Board Kit is the way to go. Way bigger footprint on the board too. Mozz
  19. Opps sorry I'm flying in on the 12 and out on the evening of the 19th unless anyone can convince me otherwise :) . Mozz
  20. What sort of Temps are we likely to see at the SES this year ? Mozz
  21. I start wearing my boots for a couple of hours in the evenings for about 1 month before opening of the season after dropping a gell theropy pack into the boot to warm it, then in go the feet and just reset the thermal liner to the shape of my feet. Mozz
  22. Yep I got one foot on da plane already there. Mozz
