  1. LOL, love the description of getting your feet in the boots. I would still double check your foot size though against the shell size before taking the plunge with new liners...just to be 100% certain. Check your mondo size and if you are within a few mm of 28.5 for each foot you should be good. The last thing you'd want is to buy new liners for your shells that don't fit your foot anymore. If you do need to upsize/downsize shells then you run the risk of being stuck with new liners you can't use as they were sized to your current shells. I measure a 27.9 left foot and 27.6 right foot and a 27.5 shell is good. I do however upsize my heat moldable liners to a 28 which some companies suggest (Intuition used to, and my old thermoflex are 28) and I just recently acquired a pair of Palau's in a 28 that fit right in. I know some on here have fit scarpa’s (intuition) a few sizes up, I believe a 30/31 mondo into much smaller shells too. Hope you get this sorted out and it may take a while with some trial and error.
  2. Sooooo? Any updates on conditions for folks that went out this weekend? I'm a little jealous but still want to hear :D
  3. Hmmm I think I was thinking of Mont Chilly, pretty close to Fort Coulonge. I still think there another "backcountry" and/or cat access mom and pop operation up that way though.
  4. If you can punch them out to 27.5 I'll take'em :D Great deal though!
  5. My first thought is that after 7 years your liners are done and the liners packed right out. Secondly, I would verify if you still have the right sized shell and proper shaped shell for your foot. Believe it or not your foot size and shape can change over the years and I've seen this first hand with myself and working in a reputable running store for years. HSPs are quite high volume through the entire boot I find too. I switched to UPZ and found them to be a perfect shell fit for my D width foot with moderately flat arch ("corrected" to some degree with off-the-shelf footbeds). You might also want to check out Eliminator pads that are placed in between your shin and liner if you have extra space with your current liner but that might only be a band-aid to the issues you are having. But first I would ensure that your shell size is still good by following this (you may have already done this so sorry for potentially stating the obvious :o) https://bomberonline.3dcartstores.com/assets/images/PDFs/Sizing_boots.pdf I'm a huge proponent of custom liners. I toughed it out at first with stock liners from both HSPs and my UPZs and then I baked a thermoflex liner and it made a dramatic difference in comfort and feel as well as eliminated any shin bang and slop I was having. I must admit after the first molding my feet were a little sore and it took a couple times out to really be near perfect but that was my first run at DIY molding. If you buy liners you aren't necessarily "investing" anything more into the shells, more investing in the longterm comfort of you foot and then the liner can be remolded (typically 5-6 times) if you decide to switch shells/boots if that makes sense. Hope that helps a little and I'm sure others will chime in with their experience and expertise.
  6. Mikel45 - is the one you are referring to on the Quebec side? I remember hearing about one up the Fort Coulonge way, was only "open" on weekends (or very sporadic) and was cat access only (?) but apparently had awesome terrain. It's driving me nuts that I can't think of it now... Ian - have a blast tomorrow! Temps should be good. Yes indeed MSM is "taller" :D
  7. Turkey!? None for us Canadians today; perhaps it's residual tryptophan from back in October? No sarcasm intended from me either. I was just answering what seemed to be a legitimate inquiry...am I missing something? But Bobby, I did have a good laugh at that...great reaction  Happy Thanksgiving to our neighbours!
  8. SES you're most likely referring to. In the General Forums section scroll down and you'll see it. Perhaps it's somewhere else to...and check the link below. http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?40290-2014-Summit-Expression-Session-General-Announcements-and-Information
  9. Did you hear about the fire at Calabogie? Really too bad : ( Might push there opening date a few weeks. http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/Fire+Calabogie+Peaks+hill+delays+opening/9206749/story.html
  10. Specs? Waist width etc. Is this metal?
  12. Ya man! Nice follow shot too. That's crazy re: wind turbine, that's a good size at 900kW...any complaints from locals (noise, sickness etc)?
  13. Unicorn Poop: I can't tell if you are being facetious or not on your last comment  You might have hit a soft spot... A bit of my experience for context: I'm a strong intermediate carver. I have tried a few bindings and currently also have Burton Raceplates, F2 Ti's and TD3 (had standards and converted to SI). While the TD3s look super sexy on any board and are quite the piece of art, they are extremely functional and their ease of adjustability and the way in which you do it in my opinion is far superior than any binding mentioned above. The are not just "show and no go". Moreover the build quality is outstanding and build to last. I've broken my Raceplates and F2's (I'm 190lbs and take care of my equipment) having to replace plastic parts from toe levers to cant shims...fortunately only that but the toe lever was a little scary looking down seeing it cracked (mind you the binding was 7 years old but only ridden for about 40 times total. TDs are all metal and there is comfort in knowing that the chances of any component breaking on them is probably quite less than compared to plastic in -15C (or colder) weather. Furthermore the boot-binding-board interface feels soooo solid yet you can "tune" the ride quality and feedback from snow (and by consequence your board). My riding improved dramatically (yes from a binding, no joke...ask the folks I ride with) as soon as I switched to TD3. The ability for it to absorb chatter and crud is amazing thanks to the e-rings but you can still crank turns with confidence, just that much more comfortably and confidently. The F2's and Raceplate designs appear to use more of the whole structure of the binding for flex and this is scary to me especially for long-term use...this idea is kind of similar in using the concrete stiffness of plastic on boot shell to regulate flex vs using a spring system such as BTS, ACSSS or stock UPZ mechanism on my RC10's. Sure racers are using F2's but they also probably have spares ready to go in the event of a failure and some are sponsored by shops and companies. I do know a few riders who have F2's (and there are countless on this forum with them) and haven't had any issues and I still have mine on my spare/rock board and they do what they are supposed to do. I'm biased though now because to me the TD's made that much of a difference. I can't comment on TD3 SW but they sure look like they will perform well and many have already attested to this. Comapedrosa, perhaps try your F2's on the new-board-to-come and see if it works for you first. Then decide if you want to take the plunge :D
  14. http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?11527-How-to-keep-people-off-the-tail-of-your-board&highlight=tail+protection http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?8157-lift-line-strategy&highlight=spikes I'm pretty sure there was another one from last year or the year before too but I can't find it...
  15. Exactly, you need the 3 hole center disk for a 3D binding insert pattern burton board. You might want to post on the "want" section and see if anyone is done with their center disks after retiring their burton. I've got a pair but use them on my old slalom burton FP rock board...I'll let you know if I change my mind in the near future. You might also want to verify that the TD3 center disk will work with a TD2 binding because of the slight difference in height...I could be wrong though so someone chime in if that's the case.
  16. Funny, I was just drafting a post going to say the same thing. I've always been hit hard with extra fees when getting items shipped via UPS into Canada and have never had any issues with USPS Priority International.
  17. What's the length? 163cm? 168cm?
  18. @ Corey: Thanks for posting those! Yikes, those toe pads are quite worn down. I do also have step-ins (converted standards) so should be similar results. Might be worth a shot to benefit from the grip even though mine aren't worn as much as yours. @ TJR - Apologies for minor thread-jack!
  19. Bomber store doesn't stock UPZ so check link below. Dan Yoja has got them http://www.upzboots.com/pricelist.html
  20. Hmmm, noticed that with mine too starting to wear but they aren't too bad at this point. Would you be able to snap a couple pics with the shoe goo? You literally just applied shoe goo right onto the sole? That's a great idea b/c those sole pads are soooo slippery!
  21. BobbyB, same thing happened on my AMT...it's riddled with nicks on the sidewall and topsheet has ever so slightly lifted in areas. I was actually finding green pieces of plastic between the metal and other layers in the board so essentially the metal was cutting my UPZ's up. A little duct tape on my boot makes the issue a little better despite my best efforts to avoid hitting the sidewall with my boot while skating along. This happened even before I got my Fintec heels too so it was just the boot shell itself doing this. Bruce said it shouldn't be an issue with respect to performance/functionality and overall durability of the board. I got some decent long-set epoxy (ie not the 5-10min stuff) to fill in topsheet chips and put a thin layer and clamped it where it was "peeling" away. Lasted all last season no issues...other than it looks like crap. Too bad, my old Burton topsheet held up way better...Still rides awesome!...the Coiler that is :D Curious if anyone else has this problem... Indeed, metal boards rock!
  22. I predict the first significant snowfall for November 14th...but yeah, I can't stop thinking snow now!
  23. +1 on ease of forward lean adjustment and walk mode (a nice bonus when putting on/removing). Regarding the spring mech, I don't find a significant difference when adjusting the spring but I don't necessarily see it as a setback either because the boot flexes nicely for me. Having said this, I like the flex, feel, and performance of the UPZ far better than the HSP but that's probably largely related to the better fit and more efficient transfer of power to the edge. Sorry, getting OT...
