  1. Here's a few pics I took on day 2. I really noticed the limitations with my mid-grade "slow" lens this time but thought they turned out okay considering I've only been doing this for under two years. And apologies for bad post-editing as I'm still getting the hang of this. Okay, enough excuses, enjoy!
  2. Posting pics in the Photos thread in 3,2,1...
  3. I've been getting CBC clips on youtube (even though in Canada) to avoid the commercials. Coverage might be shortened though...
  4. Perfect, thanks Steph. I might finally get around to getting my boots punched! What are their hours like?
  5. I'm out for tonight folks :( Day 4 of a flu and saving my energy stores for next week.
  6. Do you still happen to have the FP 3.7? I know someone who'd be interested.
  7. Don't want to rub it in...too much ;) but the conditions last night were amazing! Perfect groom hero and hardly anyone there once the muppets left. Everyone looked in great form last night too, great group of carvers, and good company! And thanks to Ian for providing those tips even though I forget to implement them from time to time :o
  8. Yup, kinda spoiled it for me too. Not cool to go running your mouth especially at Olympics and knowing he's a strong rider. I'm surprised there were no other consequences for him. The apology thing is BS too.
  9. And a few more...extra blurrrrr from a mad snowfall Peace! Joerg's carving-catnap
  10. Vielleicht verstehen das besser? 1 Kanadischer Dollar gleich 90 amerikanischen Cent :(
  11. Hmmm, tough call. The Canadian get-up is quite...acute. But I still like it? Simple design and I like the white leafy merge into the red. The American get-up is like a piece of Americana...a blended throwback to the late 60's and early 90's. Cool concept but...
  12. Je suis tres occupe avec travail les prochaine deux jours mais je vais verifier Sam/Dim pour tout le monde! Merci :)
  13. Scrape. Brush (brass/nylon). Buff....BUT I'm finicky and particular with my waxing. Really depends on what results you want. Cons leaving it on: possibly slower inconsistent glide through turns ie can get "grabby" depending on where there's more/less wax and really throw you off possibly slower overall ride quality (expanding on comment above): bases have "structure" and are porous. Ironing wax in is great for penetrating the base but by leaving it you aren't maximizing what it was designed for...max glide. Using a brush (I'm a huge fan of brass) helps to bring the wax right down to the base structure...again, maximizes glide and is consistent through tip/tail. possibly slower skating along flats Pros leaving it on: whether or not you scrape you are protecting the base from "burn"...which is a good thing!...but you won't get the benefits of what the wax and base/board was designed for. saving time possibly slower skating along flats (good cardio in between runs ;)) Having said all this, try it out. You might find you don't notice any negative effects especially if you are just crayoning it on. You definitely won't damage your board doing this. I've had to leave a thin layer of wax on a couple times do to time constraints before hitting the mountain and don't particularly like it but I still managed to have fun :D Hope that helps!
  14. Woo! My buddy patrolled at MSM for a while and saw her out there a couple times. He said she was ripping it and was amazing to watch. Go Caroline!
  15. Not too sure about having a guide that long but see your point. I used to free-hand sharpen with a given amount of electrical tape on the end of a long file to protect the base and to adjust for base edge angle. Perhaps an archaic approach but learned from some top techs working in a shop for many years and the edges were amazing. Last few years I moved to the Tognar Beast Base Level Guides and they work wonders. Hope that helps.
  16. Great, thanks for the update Alex! You still trying to peddle that Osin? ;)
  17. J'en ai d'autres mais ils sont pas "developer" parce que je "shoot" (je ne c'est pas le mot en francais) RAW. J'ai aussi beaucoup qui ne sont pas au point (out of focus). Quelle couleurs etaient votre veste et pantalon?
  18. South Londonderry Forecast Not ideal for carving with that much at once but after a couple good freezes and once it's groomed in :D:D:D It's a better forecast than two years back where it was bare fields on the drive down. Getting pumped! What have the conditions been like so far this year Steph, Alex, anyone else who's been out there?
  19. Great turnout last weekend at Mont Blanc and thanks to everyone for organizing! I've got a bunch of pictures I took many of whom I don't know. If I post your picture and you don't want it up please let me know and I'll remove it immediately. Some (many) aren't super sharp and have been cropped but I did my best to recover what I could. I'm still figuring out how to best shoot action, in the winter time, and in flat light. But I've got to say, there were some amazing riders there this weekend!
  20. Nice, simple design. I love the ptext top sheets. Specs (please!)? Width, sidecut...looks like it would be pretty turny...fun turny of course :D
  21. Soooo? How were conditions? How many out? Steeps? Busy?
