  1. The UPZ toe box is very spacious. lf you can find your size l don't think you will be disappointed. My wife and l both have quite high arches, hers even more so than mine. The RC10 is the first plastic shell boot she has worn with ZERO modification. This is for an ex-ballerina's messed up, squashed and mangled foot that needed massive work to fit into her race ski boots! The stock liners have been perfect for both of us as well. Even on the first day we didn't have to loosen our buckles, let alone remove the boots.
  2. Thank guys! Non-wide it is. Any recommendations on what mounting package to buy? Helmet/motorsports/surf... or go naked and custom accessorize? l can only buy the motorsport or naked version here in Japan and various mounting options. Also... what size memory card is functional without being ridiculously big? 32GB sounds like it would bog down my computer when downloading ... but the 2GB card the camera comes with would be good for what?... 3 runs?!
  3. Sorry a bit off topic but ABSOLUTELY putting skis back on after riding a carving board will make your ski carving much, much better. Personally, l love both and will never retire my skis.
  4. Hope this is OK to put in here... l am looking hard at buying a new adventure style camera and the GoPro seems like the one to buy. There are two different models... the wide lens and the normal lens, it seems. Which model would you recommend? Also... any of you who have already purchased one... did you buy one of the pre-assembled accessory kits or buy the GoPro "naked" and choose your own mounts? Any advice would be very much appreciated (^_^)
  5. Careful Scooby.... You have a garage FULL of girlfriends already (^_-)
  6. Dude... That was cooler than a big bag of cool things. Awesome camera work! Thanks for sharing (^_^)

  8. Hi Juha... Didn't see your post before mine... sorry. l didn't give any advice whether or not to move the binding horizontally or vertically around the board, just to not be too bothered about what the board/edge words were all about. Perhaps l should have said that it was better to leave the binding centered, although l had simply assumed he would be doing that anyway. My main comment was more about the angles Tim wanted to find. lt seemed like his disks didn't have any markings on them to read so counting the "clicks" would give him his angle numbers. l have two sets of disks like that as well.
  9. If you want to know what your angles are, loosen your bindings enough so that you can turn them while still attached. First, set them to "0". Each notch they turn equals 3 degrees. Some of my center disks have the 3 degree increments embossed on the disk and some do not. You should be able to see a little arrow on the binding housing. Use that as a reference but if there are no markings on the center disk you kind of have to "eyeball" where zero would be by squaring the binding to the board. Just count the "clicks" as the binding rotates. The "board/edge" words on the disk don't mean much. l have had my disks with those words pointing both towards the edges AND towards the nose/tail. lt just depends on whether you want to shift the binding towards either edge or towards the nose/tail.
  10. What's the point in saying one is interested in the thread, then?!
  11. Interested. Any idea how many days this board has seen?
  12. l'll throw my votes in for Niseko Hokkaido and for Tignes/Val d'Isere. Both offer awesome terrain, luxury amenities and more of an adventure than you'd get by staying in N. America. Tpalka and Mats.. both BOL'ers... just wrapped up a 10 day trip based in Niseko. There's a small thread below this one on Rusutsu which is about 45 mins away from Niseko. They had an absolute ball while they were here. Send them a PM if you want up to the minute details of their experience in Japan. Tignes/Val d'Isere is a huge area and if the snow is in abundance it is truly a top, world class venue. There are over 300 kms of groomed runs and more off piste than you can discover in a full season, let alone a 2 week holiday.
  13. First off... the boot is super easy to take off IF you unlock the rear mechanism BEFORE trying to tear the boot off your foot. Easy peazy lemon squeezy. Also... watch that the buckles don't re-fasten themselves as you are pulling off the boot. As for the boot centering thing... forget it. Don't pay any attention to that arrow on the bottom of the boot. l tried to do that as well with my TD3 bindings and my Burton bindings and it just screwed everything up. Center your boot in your binding... meaning try to have the heel and toe bail equally adjusted. lf you want to try a toe forward bias on your back foot, move the whole binding towards the toe edge by turning the center disk sideways. l tried this and it DID help.... but l have since gone back to having my binding centered again and added a 6 degree heel lift instead. Your front foot will have a naturally occurring heel side bias anyway. l put a 3 degree toe lift on my front foot to neutralize the aggressive forward lean of the boot. Now, after 8 days my boots fit like they were built for me and perform very well. The liners are NOT heat moldable like a Thermoflex. Just wear them around inside and they will take the shape of your foot. lf you want to speed up the process stick a hair dryer inside them for a while before putting them on but they'll get there without it. l have the same boot... anthracite RC10. They are more comfy with each day l wear them. Have patience (^_^)
  14. Hi Miltie! We spent the whole day on Isola. The snow was sweet although by mid day it was far from groomed. Would love to make some turns with you whenever you come up our way (^_^)
  15. Awesome day was had! lt was SO much fun to get out there and ride with other carvers. We spotted a few local hard booters as well... one even joined us on the chair lift. He had an Ogasaka board and Raichle Racing boots with the RAB spring system. He sure was into his short radius turns just like in the lnstaller videos. Tpalka was out on his Prior swallowtail and Mats was out on the 191cm Superswede. What a gorgeous snowboard... or should l say art. His long, graceful turns were a pleasure to watch. Kaoru... what can l say? This was her 8th day on a carving board and only second on the Oxygen Proton. Although Tpalka's camera work brought out the best in all of us it's still great to see someone take to carving so well
  16. Getting friendly with my new board. Mats getting down on the Superswede
  17. lnterested. Will take it to PM's but want to get in line here :D
  18. l had an old Sims CON which was 21cm. Loved it to pieces... literally. Now l'm on a 22.5cm Kessler. 47B/57F and comfortable.
  19. l only had one day our on mine but yes, ride the tail. Carves really well too. l am thinking about using uber soft hard boots... the old Vibram soled Raichle Snowboarder boots with Burton bindings. l used my UPZ's and felt that they were more boot than l wanted for riding pow.
  20. Hiya Tom! Right on (^_^) Yeah, apparently the skies opened up about two weeks ago and Hokkaido has been dumped on. My home resort of Rusutsu... which is only about 30 minutes from Niseko... has gone from 90cm before we went home to Canada for Christmas to well over 200cm. Niseko has even more... 320cms l think. We're definitely planning to hit the hills this weekend. l have been keen to get out on my carving board but with all this snow your swallowtails are the right choice for sure. l'll pack my freeride board but keep my eye on the reports. lf there's no fresh in the next few days the groomers could be fun, too. lf you fancy trying a different resort l can take you to Rusutsu this weekend. Both are great at the moment. l'm also happy to ride in Niseko. Anyway, l'll send you an email with my contact info and let's make a plan. Cheers, Ian
  21. l'm no authority on what Burton are doing now but if they have their own new patented binding/board interface l doubt you'll be able to find a match. There are many many great board companies that use standardized 4x4 hole patterns. l would consider looking at that option. Then, all you need to do is change the central disk in your bindings and you are back in the game.
  22. l can guess but it wouldn't be flattering.
  23. Yes l'd like to know the specs of your board as well. What boots are you using, by the way? l don't know why there is such a bias towards long boards on BOL. l am absolutely going to add an SL board to my quiver!!!
