  6. Sound like it was due to a warm base that got snow frozen too it and prolly cold snow conditions. Kind of weird that it did not improve with scraping and more time for the base/core to cool.

  8. Jim you need to do a beer demo tent at the demo tent. :D
  9. I shipped boards via UPS today (please god, let them make it there safely on the brown short bus) to Aspen for about 50 bones. :) Just went to the United web site to see what they will gouge me for next week, $15 for a check in bag, over 50LBS. add another $125, 175 clams one way for oversize baggage, holy crap the gouging!!!! How can I travel like a red blooded, overpacking american with these restrictions? I may have to leave my furry UGG boots and leather duster at home this year.
  10.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: Grill or no grill I still love her. I just wish her neck were longer. Good stuff Bob!
  11. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm just proud to be a hipster! The quick answer is that it just depends on how much and how fast it snows over a given time frame. Aspen does have a fleet of groomers going, what seems like 24/7, but if it's dumping, conditions will be soft. Forecast for the next ten days is bluebird so grooms should be good coming into the session. In soft conditions you will just have to change riding style on a hard boot setup to adapt to conditions. Depending on just how much snow there is, you will likely ride in a more upright defensive stance and try to adapt to sort of planing or floating on the snow, or dodging the push piles. I tend to ride a longer board on a snow day. On piste will be rideable, it just may be more difficult to do full layed out carves. Oh yeah, it's also harder to see when it's snowing. I feel like I'm of the minority at the SES that loves it when it snows, as Aspen has a lots and lots of off piste fun. Sorry gang, I'm praying for snow, O.K. not the whole week. . . .
  12. Yehaa, got a hall pass! I'll be there for the whole week. I'm getting into town early on Fri. the 6th, anyone planning on riding on Friday? Ya know, just cause six days in a row on snow isn't enough!! Sounds like the late Jan. dump has commenced in the high country, digging out the pow board!!

Thanks for the pics powell, and congrats on your skiier tag. Really, really great day of riding everyone! Waaaaaay more fun than working! Thanks Trent, good to see that you survived the day without getting plowed into while filming.
  17. Boots are still available. Found the original box which states size as 30.5 mondo 12 US, liners say 30 mondo, 12 US. Number inside the boot cuff says 30.5, there is a 322 below it which is perhaps bail to bail contact measurement. There is obviously a difference between the Raichle and Deluxxe sizing as the track 700's I bought to replace these are 29's (correction from the 28 I quoted earlier). When I got the new boots it just seemed like there was more room between the cuuff and liner with the raichle's but over the years use I swapped footbeds and never did a recook so that would make a difference . In checking the boots out however, I found that one of the cant articulating pieces which allow the cuffs to articulate with the boot soles was coming apart internally. The big washer was starting to come apart. DOH! Anyway, it's a replaceble part which I ordered from Bomber and should be here soon. I will consider these in a holding pattern until I get the part installed.
  18. Hey Biggerwrangler, please see my initial posting and pictures, there is a dent to the edge and base along the nose which I described and has been repaired and has not changed since I have owned it. I have done some dentin' in my time and unfortunately I did not get the pleasure of making this one, but I'm not sure in fits in the "Big Fricken" catagory. The dent is not on the effective portion of the edge, there was no progressive delam of the edge from the base top sheet, there is no seperation of the edge from the base, there base has a slight bubble right at the dent which is visible in the pictures. Having done a number of them in the past, I think doing some sort of an edge graft and base weld would compromise the long term integrity on the edge here. So biggerwrangler I'm guessing that you are not interested in this board but if anyone want's more pics, please email me and I can send you some with greater resolution.
  19. Windblownscott rolled his car and ended up in the hospital (get well Scott) so the Donek is back up for sale!
  20. Sorry for the delay, I am a size 12 and went to a mondo 28, I did not realize how much slop was happnin around the liner untill I went to the new boot. It may fit a giant foot with a re cook of the liners. Scott any chance of you coming through Minneapolis any time soon?
  21. sounds like it's time for a nap. It's hard to say what's worse though, the dental appointment or ski racer clogulation. The day can only improve.
