  1. Sorry - cancel that. Just noticed they're step-ins.
  2. No worries about fog. Just another learning opportunity and a reason to go into the trees. Thanks again for the advice on going to Whistler too.
  3. Yup, I was there. Looks like NS is being spellchecked to US. Sad. I had a few runs with Patrick & a good chat in the lodge (thanks again for the OJ, Patrick!) then went up to Sky chair for the softest snow & the trees. Bailed at 2 pm to catch my flight home. Sorry I didn't see more BOLers, but frankly it was pretty cool to see a guy in hardboots at the top of a run and say "Patrick?", to which he replied "Dave?" Not the reason I got into the sport, but one of the best things about it, for sure.
  4. Yes, my plan is Cypress on Sunday. Just need to figure out weekend transportation. Likely a car rental.
  5. I had a lot of fun exploring Cypress. I found it quite crowded to carve and pretty fogged in starting about halfway up Rainbow. I managed to link some carved turns on Rainbow, but was a bit intimidated by the mild bumpiness on the sides, having seen one of my clinic-mates sail into the bumps and break a tib-fib at ECES a few years ago. I was needing that width to control my speed. I would really like to go back for a first-chair situation. I stayed out til 9:30 on account of arriving so late, by which time it was a lot less crowded, but I was getting tired Whistler was epic! Quite busy. I 'rode the mountain' on my MFR and hard boots, but did no carving. Many times I was wishing I was on my soft setup because I find it a more relaxing & less tiring ride, but there were times when I really appreciated the leverage that hardboots give. I was really happy with the MFR. It is a great board for a place with so much variety. I think if I ever pare down to one board (heaven forfend!), it will be the MFR. I was exhausted by 3 and started making mistakes (more than the usual), kind of scaring myself on a traverse in Whistler Bowl. I used my hand on the snow wall for balance because I wasn't trusting myself not to make a mistake and go end-over-ending down into the bowl. Then I fell on a flat in the glades below and struggled to first of all get upright and then to make forward progress with my back foot out, trying to skate it on light-packed & powder snow. That's never a worry at home. After that, I headed for the family zone at Peak-to-Peak to skid it down to the bottom, to my anxiously waiting beer. Funny, on my first ride up the Whistler gondola, I looked out and thought "tree wells". Then I completely forgot about them, even riding in some of the glades in the Symphony area. Someone mentioned "tree wells" at supper last night and I thought, "Oh sh!t ... yeah, gotta remember about tree wells". Especially riding alone. Anyway, all in all, loved it, and planning to get out again Sat & Sun, staying in Vancouver Sat night & flying out at 6 pm Sun. Also, the workshop I'm in includes a trip to Grouse 2-8 pm Thursday, so I'll bring the MFR. Will be looking for advice on whether to bus or car-rent to Whistler on Saturday. Apparently the rental cars only have M&S tires, slightly better than 'all seasons'. I lucked out last weekend because the guy at the Avis desk at YVR asked where I was going. When I said whistler, he gave me a Santa Fe instead of the Impala I booked, for no extra charge. Nice guy.
  6. My flight was delayed 3 hrs in Montreal, so I didn't reach the hill 'til 4 pm. Saw the same SG in the rack. Giving Rainbow a try tonight. Whistler tomorrow.
  7. I don't land until 9:30 am, & then need to check in, etc, so sounds like the 162 MFR might be the choice for Saturday. I'll be wearing a bright lime/yellow/black jacket, black pants, & yellow helmet. Thanks for the tips, guys. Dave
  8. Ok, so like Dan, I am coming out to Vancouver from Feb 11-19 & will be able to ride on the Saturdays and Sundays. I understand Cypress is the best near-Vancouver mtn for carving runs & possibility of riding with other BOL-ers & has a shuttle. Check. Should I bother bringing a long-ish board on weekends? Also, is it worth the extra distance to go to Whistler on one or two of those days? Thanks for any insights. Dave
  9. I believe the sidecut radius is about 15 m. Waist width is about 20 cm. The dimensions are just slightly off the spec sheet on the Prior website for the 187 (few tenths of cms off at most). Or I am not a great measurer.
  10. Price drop. $300 USD.
  11. Still for sale. Price drop to $US325.
  12. Sale pending on Donek. Price drop on Nidecker: $25.
  13. Hi - shipping is $cdn 36 for regular parcel (9 business days), or $cdn 76 for Xoress (3 business days). Shipping for two boards combined would be $49 cdn (regular parcel). Dave

  15. I am planning to hit Martock tomorrow night.
  16. Hi all, Selling a 187 Prior WCRM. Very good to excellent condition. Here's a link to original ad: Was advertised as a 183, but the top sheet says 187, and having a Prior 181, I find this one rides longer. I've ridden it maybe three times, but am just not getting the opportunities this year. Looking for $US300 + shipping. Will consider a trade for a shorter version of same, or shorter version of a similar board from another builder, or a metal BX, or a metal AM. Binders not included.
  17. Revised prices: $115 for Donek $30 for Nidecker At these prices, you can't afford NOT to buy these boards!
  18. New prices: $120 for Donek; $35 for Nidecker.
  19. Yes, still available. Shipping is $42.50 US. Board price is $125 US
  20. Will take these if OP is not interested. Sent you a PM
  21. And just to clarify, I don't have anything in his size. Hopefully others here will give you some options.
