I made my sone some plate bindings, and got him some ski boots. The issue is the board - he's either on an oversized SG125, or a swallowtail.

When I used to work as a patroller at a small North Carolina mountain I got bored, so I started to monoski. Monoski's combine perfectly all the disadvantages of snowboarding with all the disadvantages of skiing, without any of the advantages of either But it was a challenge to try to master it anyway.

I have some Raichle 26.5 AS700 for sale.

He's way past those lol - was using a pair of Lange kids race boots this weekend - three buckle. But stiffnes was 60. Too much - he needs something like 40 Just got him a "real" race board.... the issue now is boots. I even thought that the FX (Raichlie) type ski boot with the lift up tongue might do the trick - but can't even find those small enough.

All good. I've been ripped off several times over the years so I can understand the sentiment. I've since seen some Gecko plates and they are REALLY SWEET. Not cheap, but probably worth every penny

My 6 yr old tried hardbooting this weekend and loved it. I just hand made some plate bindings and borrowed some ski boots, but they are not ideal. He's a 19-20 mondo point. Basically I'm looking for something thats well fitted, but has great flex. I can't for the life of me find anything that would fit this bill. Anyone else run into this? Ideas?

Just saw this. No, they are not a copy of the Gecko plates. Plates like this have been around since the 1990's. Some have webbed "fingers", some are fuller in design. It's all be done ad nausium. The Gecko plates are fantastic, but they are not original in either concept nor execution. The Gecko plates are a full carbon, high end, ultra performing plate and they work very very well. And they cost a lot too. I was going for something totally different - a very cost effective way of bringing say, 80% of the effect for 30% of the cost in vibration absorption, combined with a riser plate (boot overhang clearance), allow a more natural flex of the board than binding directly on the board. The shape came about simply by creating a basic outside dimension, and then using my CAD software literally creating the webbed fingers in the simplest way possible with the program. I could have gotten more complex, or fancy, with the fingers, but this was simply the quickest and simplest way to achieve the approximate proportions I wanted. The fact that the fingers are there at all immediately creates some visual similarity with the Gecko's, but I'd never even seen a pair of them prior to someone else brining this up (I had seen a Japanese design thats similar and pre-dates the Gecko, and that one certainly influenced my end design - in fact the maker of the Japanese plates has since sent me a set - very well built). If you're riding hard boots, or hard charing, my plates are not what you want. If you're riding soft boots, surfy style, and want to be raised and have some damping, then they work.

the system works after you spend time to modify the binding system, but they don't start out working. Once you get them dialed they're sweet

When I tested the proto at the end of last season I was more interested in testing than filming, and we got a sweet total of zero footage. The biggest change from the proto is the secondary row of inserts that allows you to screw in a series of grip nuggets to ride it bindingless if and when you want. The proto never had this and was just EVA deck pad that I was not thrilled with. Width over inserts is between 280-290mm depending on where you measure it. It's 340mm at the widest point. Corran

We're looking for people to promote the new Snow Wave board. Is that you? This is a truly unique design, and a radical departure from normal snowboard design. While we are not the first to make a purely surf inspired shape for snowboarding (after all, snowboarding came from surfing), how we've done this is just slightly different to the degree that its a truly inspiring board to ride. Do you live somewhere that gets a lot of snow (it needs about 30cm/12" of fresh snow to function correctly)? Do you do a fair amount of back country riding, rather than ski centers? On my race board I run 65 front 60 rear. On the cafe carver I’m running 55-45 hard boot and 45-25 soft boot Both 20” spread you can carve backwards better than a race board yes, but not like a twin tip of course
