  1. I'm trying out Zipfit fit liners as they've got great support (maybe too much but I think I can modify that) and great toe room (28.5s in UPZ 28 shells for my 28.2 foot). I put a Goldenrod dryer in each liner and plug them into a West Marine power inverter (12 volt to 110) for the drive to the Mt. I put the liners in a well insulated box that one of our Sun Basket delivered meals was mailed to us in and by the time I arrive in the parking lot it's 125* in there and the OMFit cork molds to my foot when I put my boot on. I'm in the early stages but I am encouraged. These Zipfits look like they would last for many seasons. An ice chest, even a cheapie styrofoam one, that both boots will fit in makes much more sense and upon reading the instructions for the Golden Rods I see that they should be laid horizontally to be most effective which will pose no problem as I'll just position them on the bottom of the ice chest next to the boots.
  2. Board on edge, i. e. 45*? Is my goal and where it's at for me with no sitting on the toilet or knees pointing up on heelside. Just my $0.02 and it's worth even less. I'm committed, come hell or high water!
  3. So there is my new most inspirational video. Hard to see much on the second half but my goal is to board like Corey does in the 1st half. I'll view it often every time I start out for the morning and at my 10:15 am wine break. Thanks for sharing the vid.
  4. I am not going to consider myself a carver until I make the tail follow the nose with zero slippage throughout the entire turn, back and forth across the hill, perpendicular to the fall line, i.e. not down the fall line, for at least a dozen consecutive linked-up turns. I ain't there yet but I am committed. It's relatively easy to link carved turns when you stay in the fall line but unless you're on the bunny hill you will be going really fast really quickly. Linking those pure carved turns while crossing the slope perpendicular to the fall line is the challenge. I'm basically just thinking out loud as most of you already know this.
  5. Point well taken, Cory and I agree. I like to support Jim and Angie when I can.
  6. With a digital level it should be easy to reproduce the settings on F2s or TDs by custom fabricating some lifts and cants if necessary. It seems TDs have fewer can/lift options with their stock parts.
  7. It seems pretty obvious that for dialing in cant and lift Catek is at the top of the list. Add a F2 rear stepin and F2 micro-adjustable front bail for your rear foot and it would seem to me you have a pretty sweet binding. Once dialed in you can always transfer your cant/lift to your favorite TD or F2 if you want to. What are the pitfalls of Catek?
  8. Sounds like a good beginning for a snowboarding museum.
  9. Bill Lepin, right? I'm going up on Tuesday if conditions permit. I can bring the Alp 71. Bob
  10. I bought a used Coiler to which the previous owner had attached self adhesive spikes across the tail and no one has run across the tail of that board in the lift line.
  11. On a 20.5 board I have no sole out with my size 28 (291/312mm) UPZs at 50/50 but up where the heels bulge out I have considerable heel out when checking with a square. To have no bulging heel out I'd probably have to be 60/60. I am not doing nor trying to do extreme carving so is the bulging heel or the sole heel what I should be paying attention to?
  12. Four year old Deeluxe Track 700 size 28 (sole 309mm) shells, BTS and Fintec heals not included but original heels (new) and stock rear flex system are included, totally functional with no faulty buckles or any other issues...many seasons of use left in them. Why a size 28 T700 has a 309mm sole and a size 28 T Free 69 (325) has a 303mm sole I don't know but I do know they are both size 28 shells. $225
  13. Only one three hour morning on these UPZ RC8 size 29, 324mm shells. Only very, very slightly less stiff cuff than RC10s which, IMHO, makes them just right and very similar to Deeluxe 325s in stiffness. Only two buckles on lower shell, which is plenty, and prevents the buckle interference problematic on RC10s. No where near the softness of UPZ ATBs. Again, IMHO, fits a foot that measures 28.5 to 30 cm. These boots come with a very good, stock, rear spring system to control the flex so you don't need to pay the extra for BTS as you may feel the need to for Deeluxe boots. Great heel hold and generous toe room. Compatible with Deeluxe Thermofit 131, Palau 141, Intuition, Zipfit, etc. liners $300
  14. Size 28 (sole 303mm) Deeluxe Track Free 69s are identical to 325s except for their eye-catching yellow color. These shells have only a couple of three hour days use...as close to new as you can get. $200, BTS not included but stock flex hinges are included.
  15. How do you change to large? I thought they only came in medium and large.
  16. Are the titanium base plates for sale on yyzcanuck medium or large and is the base plate the only thing different about a medium or large size binding? Is the base plate different? It would seem that it would have to be. Can you get a 312mm (28) UPZ shell on a medium titanflex? The actual sole length for snowboard bales is 291mm, I think. Basically all the same question.
  17. Still eluding me, steep angulation....getting those knees inches off the dnow....getting better though...only 900,000 more turns.
  18. The replies to this thread sum my positive thoughts about forums up very well. Thanks for chiming in.
  19. I'd like to buy an adjustable canting system made up of two black, plastic, wedge shaped discs about 10" in diameter plus a metal mounting device.
  20. Zip-fit liners are on sale at 50% ($400 to $200) off at Crystal Mt. boot shop where I hope to be on Friday. If you decide on a size and model I will see if they have what you're looking for.
  21. In loner activities like hardbooting and rowing a single racing shell I find forums indispensable for information and buying and selling gear. Like I said, twenty-five trips to Crystal and seeing only two hardbooters. I don't run into people to discuss this sport with. The same is true of almost daily rowing on Horsehead Bay. I rowed by myself for twelve years before my neighbor finally joined me. I depended on a forum for everything rowing. Without forums, or a lot more people to do these sports with, I doubt I could maintain my interest in hardbooting or rowing.
