  1. my proposal to you then for bindings : F2 race ti - easiest available in EU, ton of spare parts. https://wsm24.pl/twarde/f2-bdg-race-titanium-white.html - i can get you a price around 160 euro without knowing the size of your boot its difficult to determine the size of the binding. UPZ has smaller footprint then Deeluxe boots. For the bindings get an extra set of lifts : https://wsm24.pl/czesci-i-akcesoria/f2-kostka-podwyzszajaca-wiazanie-twarde-black.html - 12,5 euro. for boots start with UPZ RC8 or RC10 - maybe somebody has some boots from past seasons. For board look for something used. for 1k euro I am sure you can get a very decent set. Boots and bindings need to be new imho. Board can be used and as long as it has edge its. Regards
  2. there is a ton of gear to choose from - it all depends on the budget you wanna spend. Probably for start a slalom board or short GS board would be great. Something that doesnt require a lot of speed to carve.
  3. same here. I had a ton of pain in driver x boots. not only arches but whole feet on fire. Going hardboots solved all of it for me. here is a tutorial how to measure your feet : it should give you the baseline for the size of the footbed. instead of going via bluetomato I would much rather look at there shops : wsm24.pl truesport.cz if you need help with that polish site I can help - i got a very decent discount there for both Boots and bindings. In Sweden you might also try to reach out to Mats Drougge - Stranda snowboards owner - he might know where to score some hardboot gear. regards
  4. Funny you mentioned that. My fam from my mothers side is also coming out of Vilnius. Mind you Vilnius is 900 km away from me.
  5. Yeah. I realized that 30 percent incline is ca 17 degrees. That slope though it's in the top ten of polish steepest slopes. Not sure how you feel, but i actually find it easier to ride in a steeper slope then not. At least you can curve your carves more without loosing speed.
  6. i have to admit that board suprised me more then once. in 0:35 i just havent had a enough diaper to continue. Maybe the slope doesnt look it, but its an average 30% incline...
  7. There is a "new" plate coming up. Zan Kosir has been riding this in the world cup this year. Wieght is 1850 kgs, 13mm stack height. Apparently softer then allflex and little bit easier to ride Will give it a try if possible.
  8. I did use them. I also used quite a few risers out there including Geckos. They do dampen the board a little, just like the geckos and they give you a tiny bit more leverage. however you have to get yourself 20mm screws to get them up and running on the board. I have the XPE plates with alu inside panel on my Donek Proteus and I am pretty happy with them. posted a vid here : Virus plate is not a wheel invented anew. There has been so many plates like that : - K plate - Gecko - Soulwaterman - XPE - Goltes - palmer and probably many more that I have not even come across. I am really suprised that virus is making this.
  9. Couldnt agree more. Additional power to price ratio is just not worth it. Have a look here, will do the same and cost you much less http://xpe-plate.com
  10. rhetorical question. In PL only clubs and people with licence from national association (doesnt matter which one) can ride. 13 people from skiclub were there plus me and my 2 buddies....
  11. for me the key was always moving to the back leg when the turn progresses.
  12. slopes are completely in lockdown where I live, but I managed to get 2.5 hours of very decent carving. had a chance to revisit and old board and also to test a new one:
  13. my 2 cents (or two groszy should I say given my location) I did ride all types (not all brands out there mind you): - full isolation - Apex X on 4x4 pattern - Vist/FG plate - Allflex longitudinal - geckos carve - goltes raisers Full isolation plate rides great in almost all conditons, but that is only if you like the snow detached feeling. I personally dont, however I do recognize that the most fun I had on ice was with Apex X plate. Full isolation plate is a completely different beast to an allflex or VIST/ FG plate. Allflex imho rides very comparable to vist/fg type of plate - call me stupid but I could not feel so much difference to justify the 800 euro price difference between the two. Sure it does work well, it looks great and there must be something about if the guys world cup ride it right? Compared to Vist I much prefer the FG plate (https://www.facebook.com/fgsnowboardplates). Its more lightweight, its leaner design and doesnt block if screwed in too hard like vist does from time to time. I didnt notice FG plate making your board ride longer - it makes more stable at speed, but i did not notice that I am doing longer turns. Maybe FG is a little softer the vist and not impacting the flex that much. most importantly for me you put on the Vist/FG/Allflex on your board and you can forget about them very quickly. Sure you can feel the weight from time to time, but at least the feeling of snow is still there. Geckos/risers are nice, but I dont think they yield enough additional power for the price they offer. I have never raced, I only do freecarve and imho the best price to addtional power ratio is defo FG plate or Vist... I will sometime shortly give a try to plastic allflex to see how it compares to aluminum one. Feels like the allflex carve is roughly 700 euros ? Seems a little expesnive for a plastic plate, especially if you can buy alu allflex at the end of the season for approx 900 euros? Ironrok carbon fiber plates seems an interesting one - I would need to give it a shot if this is the ultimte plate. I dont see the world cup guys picking up on it yet. Also JJ plates look quite awesome and have not heard/seen anybody say something bad about them. I fear however the snow detached feeling. just 2 groszy. nothing more.
  14. To me it looks like he drives the knees into the snow on toeside to create the jump. Helps himself with the hand and shoulder ?
  15. Lol. This is my local riding crew. I started with them. They are called Shaman snowboard and they teach hardboots...
  16. Another one from takamitsu shirakawa I like the way he ends the turns https://youtu.be/89FSOHmQSJA
  17. There is still some guys that do that on world cup level, i.e. benny karl https://www.instagram.com/p/CItlo09FPrz/?igshid=b8nn1vg0t5aj
  18. https://youtu.be/aoKFvtXdN 0 54 to 0 58. Damn that camera perspective..
  19. Right so.... After the turn in 0 37 he "places" the board into the next turn. So this is camera perspective too ?
  20. Ok what about 0:37 , 1:07 ? He does go uphill sometime. sure he does jump from turn to turn that's a fact. The energy for the jump comes from the fact that he finishes the turn in apex. If it is steep, If there is enough speed, board has flex more or less ideal for the rider, the board is high on the edge there is no way that you are not going to fly. One more for you https://youtu.be/1-IhVK-aAwc
  21. Looking at Kohei he does turn the board perpendicular to fall line as a way to bleed off speed. He doesnt go up hill per se but ... Also he is highly assymetrical in his turns - meaning he does this mostly on heelside rather then on toeside. Reasons are I think obvious See sequence from 1:25 on the steep
  22. right i got couple more to add, might have been here before, but its defo worth watching
  23. hi Jack, I have bought shells only as I had zipfit. Didnt want the liners from S5 Same for 951 actually. I bought first pair of 951 when they had the Roxa liner in them - that didnt workout for me at all and I used UPZ foam liners in 951 for spell. Then I bought zipfit and managed to buy 951 world cup shells only. The new liners i have heard work super good though so you are probably right about 951 being great right out of the box. About S5 being a northwave copy - completely agree. the looks and design looks like northwave/951 however the heel placement and spring lug is much more deeluxe like. I was pleasantly suprised how they did ride though. if you have chance give them a try
  24. is that proteus available? I would like to take it
