@pokkis and I are using Grand Prix. @slapos is using Grand Prix with Sidewinder because he likes all things stiff.
I thought I was at foot ecstacy with my Palau liners with no hot spots and amazing riding comfort and I still recommend these and always will.
But with Zipfits, it's like wearing slippers because of the perfectly even pressure distribution over the whole foot. There is no chance my heel can lift or foot can move except for my toes to wiggle.
It's funny because I feel like my heel won't lift with the Palau either but Zipfit just distributes pressure so evenly it is a whole new dimension of comfort. Didn't know this could even be a thing.
Ugh, now i have to get a pair. I'm assuming they are ok with me using my custom footbed during the molding process, correct?

hmm, i might be tempted to stop at a zipfit shop this weekend in Denver. I would say my current boot setup is 90% of its way to total foot ecstasy. i still have some minor hotspots, but nothing that causes blisters or keeps me from riding all day long. Which model zipfit did you use @Bobby Buggs

I always have issues with those tongue liners pressing against my shins. I always prefer wrap-around liners like intuition. It would be nice if they made an injectable wrap-around liner. My intuitions are comfy enough, after some major surgery to decrease volume on the sides of my feet.

I'll be at loveland Sat, Sun, and Mon. I'll bring some Grey Poupon for you @big mario

A note i'd like to add about carpet carving. This is something that is probably super obvious to all of you but easily overlooked. Ambient temperature; so i've been carpet carving to try out the different lift and cant settings. With my indoor temps kept at 73, on average, everything get's more flexible. Primarily, your boots and also elastometers on td3's. So when i switched back to my stock springs on my upz, they had a lot of foward flex when tightened up and locked. However, on the slopes, the movement is much more limited. So much so that i'm thinking of installing my set of dgss springs that i never got around to installing. These should give a lot more flex when compared to arnaud's system. So, the moral of the story is that everything will stiffen up in the cold temps.

A little fun at Loveland from earlier this week:
I'm on a Coiler Revelation, 12/13m sidecut.
nice, how are those new coilers doing? You must be bending the hell out of that board, those are some tight turns! awesome riding, as always!

Sounds like you guys will have more pow this weekend and next week. i need to move to CO. https://opensnow.com/dailysnow/colorado

I'll be back in town weekend after next. Friday night to Monday night. I plan on riding all three days.
I must say, after riding pow for three days this past weekend, i feel like i'm just now starting to recover.
i should have stayed an extra day to enjoy Tuesday with you guys. Oh well.

These threads are great. As an IT geek I like ideas for more organization, however Carving Central has always been the place to ask about technique. Technique discussion is a huge part of what inspired Fin to create BOL with just one forum 20 years ago. Let's think about it...
i say we keep in carving central. Maybe just pin it at the top and i can edit the first post with instructions?
Copying some feedback i gave to bruce while riding my AM this weekend at Loveland since it also deals with technique and changes i made.
"Just wrapped up a weekend at Loveland. Pretty much all 3 days were pow days with the last day (today) being very soft groom. I made the following changes before the trip.
- Upz boots stock spring system re-installed
- Shortened stance width to 18" buy moving the rear binding forward. This resulted in some very odd behavior with the board. It was very squirly and the tail just wanted to break loose constantly. So, i moved both bindings back by 1 set of inserts, problem solved. However, front binding is now the furthest back in can go, on the last set of inserts.
- Locked my rear boot with more forward lean, on all runs.
Overall, it performed very well. I would say it's about 80% of the way there to being a full on Pow only board. (comparing this to my donek nomad i have ridden in softboots and pow) However, i feel like the front half of the board could maybe be a little stiffer. Also, this board would probably be best served with a little bit more width. I'm sure this was due to the soft conditions and my lack of experience on pow, but the AM is very turny. And if not careful will really hook into a turn on the soft stuff. This didn't take away from the enjoyment of the board. With the more setback stance it was still a joy to ride in pow and i never really felt like i was going to submarine as long as i kept my speed up. "

i've been riding a custom built AM this season and i also ran into similar issues that resulted in me adjusting my riding slightly. Mainly, like you said, don't throw your weight towards the nose. If i overdo it, it definitely bucks and i get ahead of the board.

Just bought mine. The 7 days at Aspen is worth it alone.

Also, quick question for you guys. The GF is a beginner pizza skier and only comfortable on greens at the moment. I'm thinking we'll probably just stick with the lower part of loveland for saturday or the first half of that day. (The zig-zag area.) Should i just park at that lower area? Isn't there a lift that links both areas up? I'm assuming they also have rentals at that lower lodge...

Looks like a pow weekend, but who knows. The snow gods could just decide to dump it all just on i-70. I'll be there this weekend, including Monday. I'm assuming i'll actually be able to make it to the mountain. I hope the Outback i'm renting holds up. The last outback i rented had busted wiper motors that would crap out under a load of heavy snow.

Why don't we just sticky a critique my riding to the main carving forum? And make it part of the rules that you have to ask in that thread for advice? Just a thought.

HI Colozeus
the systema you have is called ACSS and it is not mine but my friend Arnaud of the SWOARD team
Ah ok. Makes sense. I actually have a pair of yours that i bought last year but never tried them. Depending on how it goes with the stock upz system, i may or may not try them.

So can anyone post a vid and ask for advice or should I start my own thread?
JIC, turn down the volume for wind noise.
I don't mind if people use this thread. Might be a good idea to keep the number of advice threads down by doing so.
18 hours ago, DRUPI said:Yeah, it's definitely not your version. the one i have requires a total of three holes be drilled. two for the plate that separates both springs and one at the bottom.

If the stock system has more travel than what you had installed, it must have been a truly vintage version of the DGSS, or one that came with super-stiff springs, not what Drupi usually ships. I went the other way because the DGSS gives me far more travel than stock.
i'll post a picture of it when i get home. I actually have a set of the latest dgss springs from last year, i just never installed them.

i think that's too tight of a sidecut to ride on hardboots. Unless you want to tear off your torso...
-
Looks interesting. What's the sidecut radius on this? I couldn't find it on their site. looks like a turny board. My guess is 10m

I just made the opposite switch from stock to dgss. I liked the or second to forward most lean setting usually on the upzs (I also ride 6 and 6), but it also felt too limiting. Half the time I would ride in walk but I was not comfortable when I did. I didn't have enough travel in them for my liking in locked and there wasn't much response in walk.
I installed the dgss with green springs and it didn't feel good for me. Way too soft and too much travel. I then switched out after a few runs to the blue springs and it felt way better, both compared to green springs and to the stock mechanism. I don't EC so I wasn't looking for that, but rather some more range in motion. The other thing the spring system has done is the "resting" lean is more forward than the upz, which feels a lot better too. I want to look at moving the lock nuts to perhaps adjust the resting forward lean to be a bit more on the back leg and maybe a tiny bit more upright in the front, but I need a bit more time on them in different conditions before playing more.
Dgss isn't for everyone of course, but so far I am liking them. More range in motion while still retaining responsiveness for me atleast. It is a bit contradictory, but it honestly feels like the boots now have more flex when I need it but they aren't any softer/ the stiffness is still the same if that makes any sense.
I also know @daveo replaced the small back travel springs with blue which may be another thing I eventually look at. I believe @DRUPI even has red springs which are even stiffer.
I'm going to try the stock upz setup this weekend. It definitely has more travel than the springs i had on there. Perhaps i set them up wrong. Actually, what i have might not be the dgss, i remember now that i ordered them from some guy in italy on the EC forums.

Sorry but why you drilled holes with DGSS?
For the very first iterations of the dgss you needed to drill holes to secure the middled plate and bottom of the threaded screw. It's not like the latest designs. This was a system sold by a guy that goes by druppi

There are 3 zipfit dealers in the denver area. I'm going to call all three today at some point. I might make an appointment for the one in dumont since it's on the way to and from loveland.
I will say, even though i love my intuition powerwrap, it does tend to pack out in the instep area of my foot. I usually start at the first groove on my upz and i end out on the third groove by the end of the day.
That being said, has anyone tried surefoot's injection liner? I think @Corey had surefoot make him a footbed. The surefoot in aspen rocks. They punched out and widened my upz boots and didn't even want to charge me. So i gave them 20 bucks for their beer fund and they were super happy.
