  1. I'll be there tomorrow bright and early for first chair! Apologies for the late post.

    Stratton

Anyone recognize this carver from Stratton Twitter feed? https://t.co/7DlIGJi5p3
  3. Much better than yesterday. Conditions were pretty good for carving and it was warmer than yesterday. Good cover on the trails which were open. Still blowing snow and more on the way! It was a super good time! Snow and weather was great. Carving with friends... priceless.
  4. I was there today and it was sketchy. Primary surface was frozen loose sugar laced with death cookies. Followed closely by ungroomed piles of fresh artificial snow waiting to be pushed out (most evident on Outback and connecting trails). On the plus side ice was minimal and snow guns were blasting. I'm hoping the those piles will be pushed out and groomed for tomorrow. Competition, Big Chief, and Exhibition all had good cover. See ya'll there in the morning!
  5. I'll be there Sunday. Might head to Stratton on Saturday.
  6. David, I'd love to ride with you. Still bummed I wasn't able to make it to the Loaf with you guys. I can't help with carpooling all the way from the Island, but I could offer a place to stay Saturday night if you want to come to Beast both days or Stratton Saturday and Beast Sunday. Peterborough, NH is about 90 minutes from both Berkshire East and Stratton in Southwestern NH near Keene on VT-NH line. Call or email if interested.
  7. I'm ignoring comments about the cold... except to say that last weekend at Bretton Woods it was -16 at the top of Rosebrook and it was awesome. Bring a face mask and cover up. I'm trying to decide if I do BEast both days or go to Stratton one day. I think Sunday could be better for BEast. Saturday will probably be good either day at Stratton. Also meeting a friend coming from Albany at Berkshire East and Sunday is better for him. Plus, I don't want to miss Bobby. If anyone is there this week, especially Thursday or Friday, would really appreciate an update on conditions!
  8. Don't hold back, where exactly is this???
  9. I could go either Saturday or Sunday. Maybe both. Anyone else? Brian, are you still planning for Saturday?
  10. Thanks for the report, I think I'll pass. Bobby, let us know if there's any improvement. Brian, Saturday sounds good to me! Anyone else?
  11. Bretton Woods was sweet today! Very cold (Ski Patrol told me it was -16 F at the top of Rosebrook in the afternoon!), but the snow was yummy! . Groomed firm with plenty of base left. If it wasn't so cold (snow was like sandpaper) it would have been hero conditions.
  12. Me too, for Sunday. Who has been there recently?
  13. Bretton Woods this weekend. High for Saturday is... 4! Eric, will you be out at all?
  14. Ouch. So sorry to hear that. I'll stop complaining about the unseasonably warm weather now. There's no way anyone will get away with that Rev on any hill where other carvers from the community visit.
  15. Thank you, sir! Actually, my wonderful wife has family in Utah and we're planning a visit in April. Can't wait!
  16. Ouch. Take comfort in knowing you're not alone.
  17. Unless there's actually more than one carver sporting an MK at Pats Peak, it must have been you I saw there 3 or 4 weekends ago. Never did get to see you ride, but was surprised to see an MK in the racks late in the afternoon.
  18. Love it! I recently (4 year ago) got into skate boarding and my first board was a Carver. I still love it for many of the reasons you site. Good to go without needing much space. For longer skates and more of a carving feel I prefer a longer deck. I love carving turns on my Loaded Vanguard but that requires a bit more space.
  19. Eric, where do you skate? I got into longboarding a few seasons back for something to do in the off season. I don't care for bombing hills, but I do like carving and pumping and going for longer skates on bike paths and rail trails (e.g., Nashua River Trail) in the 12-20 mile range. Great workout!
  20. That is probably how it was intended and how the rest of the population would interpret it. But here... on this forum and in this community? Quite a different reaction! The whole thing (article and comments on it) is actually pretty funny and entertaining.
  21. In a word: depressing. My season can probably best be summarized as follows: In January, I was still on the rock board and by February, I was back on the rock board. Still it wasn't all bad. We actually had two whole weeks (IN A ROW!) of good snow. I have that to be thankful for. I kind of wish I could be put into a deep sleep and wake up some time in the future where Trump will be gone and the next global cooling cycle will be kicking in. Maybe the next ice age? I hope someone keeps my gear ready for me when I wake up. How are the rest you dealing with sorter seasons, less snow, and less carving?
  22. Bobby, I was there today, last minute. It was incredible! Best carving I've had all year. I can't remember better carving conditions at Beast. Will definitely have to get back soon. Unfortunately not this weekend.
  23. Beast was epic today! Crispy. No ice. Hero carving. Too bad I won't be able to make it tomorrow. You will have a great time!
  24. Will anyone be out carving on Saturday?
  25. It's a sad fact that many people who use the slops simply do not understand the rules. As an experiment, I asked someone who I trust, who I think has good judgement, good moral character, who typically skis about 10 days a year for more than 20 years, to view the video without any context or discussion. I then asked who was at fault. And without hesitation was told, "obviously the person on the snowboard". I had a hard time believing what I heard. It would be interesting to see the video presented without context or discussion of the rules and then poll viewers to see who they think is at fault. Then see the data from the polls.
