  1. are liners moldable? What size shoe/US do you wear? interested and local...I wear a 9
  2. Sorry, not looking to purchase but hope to see you riding this winter. Great topsheet/looking forward to seeing it! I will ride most days at Mt High. Join us at the Eastside for some turns!
  3. The hardboot handcuffs are a reference to the fact that I can't stop riding softies. King Crimson is eager to get me to commit to hardboots fulltime, thus the "hardboot handcuffs" reference. I think I will "do the time" but the cuffs will come off at my discretion.
  4. If I can find a decent set of boots, I will ride the plates more often. It is just so easy though being the only softboot carver in so cal
  5. Seen the lobsters. I try not to reach for the snow on carves as it really is bad form but usually I usually can't help myself. Lobsters or 5 finger gloves scare me as I have broken many a finger by reaching for the snow. I use mittens with 5 finger gloves underneath. peel the mitt and you have full dexterity. Just leave the mitts attached at the wrist. I plan to buy another set of the cheap OR shells to make another set of leathers mitts.
  6. I had leather copies made from Outdoor Research mittens several years ago. They were awesome for about 10 years. I have heard here...that dipping your gloves in that rubberized tool dip works wonders. have yet to try though.
  7. Sorry to hear about the loss of a close friend and fellow rider. Its nice to see other soft-booters rocking it over on rail. Make turns for your friend every chance you get!
  8. Mt High is so lame but I love riding East Midweek. Lame skidders everywhere. Kind of like running gates!
  9. I get it. The custom donek I want is nothing like a traditional carving board. I t will be freestyle/bx
  10. :lol:don't need board or bindings
  11. Thanks. Just think, all you guys will have money ready after selling old stuff to order that sweet new custom deck from Donek (shameless plug, I too want a sweet new custom deck from Donek) and have it ready for opening day...
  12. good cheap boots/I'm an 8.5US so Mondo 26.5-27??? I have some mint burton freecarves that don't give enough support
  13. Do we all have to wait until fall to see dust covered gear for sale?????
  14. Helmet and glasses are fine together as long as you carve a nice trench!
  15. kind of like a basketball player with million dollar moves and a 25 cent shot...
  16. I too saw this. All the "yo boarders" here in So-Cal don't think hardbooting is snowboarding. I am so sick of the mentality or lack there of in the 17- 20 something year olds especially here at our local resorts. They are totally disrespectful. 25" stance on 145cm deck. Sad really.
  17. Thank you Sean. Sorry to hear about the equipment failure. As soon as I win the lottery or sell my first born, The trigger, I will pull. Thank you again. I look forward to it!
  18. Thanks Sean. I really don't get much pow here in Southern Cal. I spent most of my riding in Washington State back in the 90's at Crystal Mountain. 90's boards: Lib Tech: many freestyle decks with freestyle bindings/ a couple of inner-course and a couple of non asym carving prototypes all on 3 straps. Burton: Air/asym air/pj's/m6/alps/fl/ I currently ride a Burton Custom 162 with flow bindings at 21 front and -3 back foot center on effective edge. I also have an Ultra Prime162 that I have been dabbling with for the past 9 years or so. The Ultra prime gets about 4-6 runs a day and I really enjoy it. I am determined to spend more time on plates but with limited days a season, I am looking for the best possible freeride board possible. A board with a sub 10m sidecut radius? 25cm or less width? twin/directional? Metal dampneing? slight de-camber tip and tail with traditional camber? An aggressive twin that performs in bumps and crud that I can lay over when there is Hero Grooming! I think, and have been told that I can carve a freestyle board like a plate board both regular and switch with these angles and stance but I feel off the shelf boards lack the performance I am looking for. I never change my stance for any conditions, I just ride in the back seat for powder days and never have an issue. Riding adverse and rapidly changing conditions in the Northwest for so many years forced me to adapt. Going from 160+ days a season from 90'-99' down to about 10-20 days a season has not helped improve my hardboot riding as quickly as I would like but having a finely tuned freestyle/freeride deck would make those few days so much better. Sorry so long winded but just wanted to clarify. I love bumps too. Size 8.5-9 boot/200lbs regular foot/5'10"
  19. Where do you guys ride at????
  20. So Sean, Do you think there is the ultimate quiver killer possible for someone like me that loves railing tight radius turns in softies both regular and switch? A real "tweener" type board for the aggressive softboot carver?
  21. For sure! I have been looking at Coda as they are local for me but they do not offer the variety of shapes and customization that Donek is offering. Perhaps more of these boutique board makers will start catering to those of us that choose to carve but ride soft? :o
  22. I too am looking for the holy grail of "in between boards" Not alpine, not plate, not freestyle, not bx...You tell us Sean??? I would love to rail turns and hit the whole mountain but want to do it in softies and ride it switch. Why can't there be a quiver of one?
  23. Erik you are right. I had the same models without 3-d. Mounted on PJ 5/PJ 6/ Libtech Innercourse. We would drill the plates on freestyle bindings and I never broke a plate. I broke many highback connections to the baseplate though...I stand corrected. drill them for soft, chuck them for plates. Buy some new ones...
  24. I am torn between what board or boards to add to the quiver. I ride about 70/30 soft vs plate setups. I love carving switch. Not sure what will be the quiver killer compromise. I want to rail both ways. I think I need a seriously customized board....
