This is an image on the Mt Hood Meadows website right now. The shadow on the upper edge of that rooster tail looks iffy to me, what do you think? And is there something off about the body position and the apparent edge angle?

That thought has crossed my mind - I gave notice at my old job, so if this offer is retracted, I'll be selling boards to make my mortgage payment My new company is tech-focused - their work and their customers' work is heavily online, so hoping things will come through as expected. I will seriously be up the creek if there is a change... I think canceling sporting events is the right thing to do, but I totally agree there's going to be a big economic impact, both from that and from other effects of and responses to the virus. Life will go on, but I think it will be a while before we're back to normal.

I got a job in the Seattle area and my start date is the end of March... Not sure how things are going to shake out exactly, but I'm expecting a lot of remote work, and may be postponing our apartment hunting trip...

I agree there's potential for this conversation to get political...but it really shouldn't! We have a public health issue that is almost certain to become more serious in the weeks ahead, and will affect every American. If that doesn't transcend our usual political squabbling / business as usual, I don't know what does. Here's an extremely sobering chart showing that cases in the US were increasing at an exponential rate as of a week ago -- I don't believe we've done anything since then to change the growth trajectory: So yeah, I think we would be well advised to take precautions that seem excessive...that could be the difference between looking back 3 months from now and saying "LOL, we really went overboard" vs having a large fraction of the population infected with a 1-3% death rate. Maybe this conversation should move to the Lodge?

Pretty much the title - it's a VHS videotape. It's free to anyone who will digitize it and make the file available for download / post it on YouTube. (I'm assuming that copyright is no longer a concern for something of this vintage, but LMK if that's not the case.)

I have a lot of days on my 172, which I'm keeping. Just hard to pull out the old boards when there are all those shiny new toys to play with.

I got these to check out splitboarding and soon found that I didn't have the patience to modify them to get the forward lean needed for them to be good snowboarding boots. That being the case, they probably have less than ten days of use. After my brief flirtation with splitboarding, they sat in my basement for 10 years, so I think it's time to give them a new life. The downside is that while they were sitting in my basement one or more mice decided to crap in one of them. So, depending on how you feel about that, they may need new liners, or you may want to put in footbeds. Or maybe you'll just make sure to wash your socks immediately after getting back from a tour...whatever works for you. $50+shipping or make an offer. If you want just the shells, let me know and I'll toss the liners.

So...this is a backup board to the 4807 that I currently use as my "big pow day" board. I'm moving to Seattle for work and will probably be in an apartment, so no room to spare for "I'm gonna ride that...one day" even though it's my favorite topsheet ever. It's NOS and has never been mounted though it has a bit of shop wear. Looking for $350 plus shipping.

Board is sold as soon as I deliver it to monodude's escrow agent I didn't know I needed to clear out the basement when I was heading to Whitefish I do still have the 172 that I learned to ride alpine on -- it's a sentimental board for me, I always think I'm going to ride it and never actually do, but I'm holding on to it and will keep in mind it could be a good ice carver.

0 from me...my wild-ass guess on lifetime mileage would be not more than 50 days. The topsheet is in pretty good shape and it looks to have most (all?) of its camber still. I had a request for photos, so I took some pics - see below. Overview: Topsheet closeups: Big ugly scrape on the bottom. It doesn't go to the core and it's parallel to the direction of travel, so you might not feel it when riding, but I would want to fill it if I was going to be riding this board. There you go, they would look great on your wall together! I just accepted a job offer out of town, so I'll be renting out the house for awhile. Time to clear out some of the gear that I'm just keeping around for sentiment.

This board has seen heavy use and general jackassery from my younger years. It's down to a few mm of camber and has softened. The topsheet is cosmetically maybe a 3/10, but the base and edges are in good shape. If you have a kid that's into jibbing, you want a softy rock board, or you're building a snowboard bench, it could be right for you. The price is negotiable, I really just want it out of my basement. Some more photos of the bigger dings and scratches.

I have some well-used Catek WCs that it's time to let go. All parts and fasteners are complete and functionally these are 10/10, but as you can see from the images, there are some cosmetic issues. I believe these are the smaller base plate - I use them with a 27.0 Deeluxe boot, and as you can see, the sole blocks are close to the end of their range. Note - board pictured is not included.

This is the red/black topsheet from around 2000 or thereabouts. The 172 version of this board was my first "real" alpine board, and I grabbed this one to see how the extra running length felt. Well...I don't know because after several years of me riding newer gear, it's still in my basement in the packaging in which it was sent to me: I never even opened it. That being the case, I think it's time to set it free. Let me know if there's interest and I'll unbox it to take some photos. As GS boards go, I think this one is pretty friendly. The 172 worked well for me at around 155 pounds even when I was more or less a beginner - it does want a little more attention than a freecarve board, but doesn't smack you down for minor errors.

That would be amazing! The west-bound train arrives at an awkward time in the morning - 5:20 a.m. - so people arriving by train would also need some kind of ground transportation on arrival...is there a shuttle service in town? Of course, people would also need somewhere to go, but you could potentially drop your stuff and then head up to Turner. I took the train to Whitefish this winter and it is hands-down easier and more pleasant than driving.

Hi Aaron! Thanks very much for that perspective. I so rarely have anyone around who can critique what I'm doing that I really haven't thought much about how I ride for quite awhile. This is really interesting to hear...I thought I was being "dynamic", LOL. I'm wondering if that's the difference between me and people who are really smooth riders -- I'm going to keep this in mind as I ride in the future. On a related note, noschoolrider offered to give me some pointers if I can catch up with him at Bachelor - hoping to make that happen this spring and maybe I can put together some of the advice and new ideas that I'm getting into something resembling a coherent whole Also, sorry to hear about your back! You don't ride like you have old injuries, that's for sure.

Hi Mr.E, sorry, I missed your comment initially. I ride with it often, but I've trimmed the weight - now it usually has just a little bit of water (half-liter or less) and possibly an extra layer. Having said that, I think I need to get rid of it entirely when I'm carving, and am moving in that direction.
