  1. Kick a ball with your right foot? = Natural If you are set up some other way, you probably just learnt that way, maybe it took you longer than you needed to, but ultimately it doesn't really matter.
  2. Damn I was there last year, would he have raced in the monday go pro series? I met an aussie instructor, I really want to improve my carving technique
  3. Hey all, Im an Aussie hardbooter staying in Breckenridge for the last 2 weeks of Jan, Do any of you guys board at Breck? is there any good hard boot instructors around the area? I wouldn't be too worried about travelling, I think I gotta take my daughter to Keystone on the MLK weekend, for some race (ski) training.
  4. Pete If this doesn't work out, have you tried Time2Ride in Jindy? pretty sure they have hard boot stuff
  5. I would also be interested in a JNR BX board, 140/5 range, anything longer would be to big, will probably end up with a Burton Protest, but would like to look at donek etc edit: will be in Beaver Creek mid Jan 2016, would love to grab it for then.
  6. So what angles are you riding in soft boots? I just can't get mine right? I have one of Bruces boards as well
  7. Haha good luck on this I already got mine, its beautiful!!
  8. Michelle, From Australia, best of luck, appreciate the help over the years :) Goodonya
  9. Wow thanks for the thoughtful replies, I wanted to trust my instincts about this, but you guys have confirmed what I was thinking. Yeah she is lucky, for a Sydney girl she got 58 odd days on the snow this year hehehe pity I have to go with her.....
  10. Hey guys, My daughter is a race skier see pic below, and she has spent the better part of her life following me around on my board in hard boots. She wants to dabble in race boarding, and we are getting conflicting info from the board instructors over here in AUS about good stance. Now she is only 11, so can't really decide for herself yet, but she feels comfortable with a forward stance, but the board instructors are teaching this kinda square stance technique where you kind stick your bum right out on the heelside turn. To me it looks horrible?? So what do you all recommend for a young boarder, and also where do you get small (140cm) "race" boards, or at least boards without that goofy reverse camber??
  11. Cardrona in early October a couple of years ago was pretty wonderful for us, We stayed at a resort in Wanaka and skied Cadrona / TrebleCone / Remarkables and Mt Dobson, all pretty good places had lots of fun! Met some hard booters at Treble Cone
  12. I gotta get some pics of Bruces boards in the Aussie bush / Ski resort. We have had a ****e season here (Bruce would cry at the state of the ptex on my boards), but am heading down again this friday, will do my best. Plates have arrived and are fitted, they look pretty nice, but I can see (feel) why they would be better in carbon fibre. Pretty expensive getting into softies board/binding/plates/boots, now that I have the board/plate setup, I reckon I could have gone a smidge narrower, oh well next time :)
  13. ordered the plates, waiting :) good snow this week, hopefully test drive next weekend! I ended up getting Bruce to make me a softie, love his boards!!
  14. If you let me know, specifically what you need to know about building them in CF, I "might" (can't promise) be able to get some tech info for you. I have a friend who ran SP Systems over here, and now consults on CF construction. I will obviously preface any conversation with small industry that can't afford his services :)
  15. So it appears that diodes are restricted in angle to 36 ish degrees? anyone know of a mod to allow for greater angles? does the bomber plate give any extra angle adjustment?
  16. I ordered one :) edit: A Softy Quotes from Bruce: "the 164 board would suit best. Favourite model for all around riding has a sidecut of 7/9.5m which really likes to get you into a turn to to help control speed which can be an issue on softies. They are made pretty much the same as your AM so will hold very well on ice and still be a real nice all around ride." " I'll go 25.5 or 26 wide as it will still allow for a decent carve and you won't get too much boot out. No one really complains about width until they get a 27 or 28 wide which is just too much board to get up on edge"
  17. I really like the Coiler AM VSR that I have, and am looking for something similar to ride in soft boots, assuming that it will be a little more forgiving??? ie: navigable through the trees occasionally, but still carve.. any input appreciated. Have shot an email off to Bruce.
  18. good question, I think the later? But I do just love the Coiler that I already have for hard boots, pretty much looking for a soft boot version, no chance of me getting in a park :)
  19. Swoard Dual or Coiler Softie anyone ridden both these boards, I'm curious to know how different they are
  20. Whats really curios about this condition, is the number of folk who "if" you scanned them, present as having a herniated disc, but also have no pain, and never have had any pain. I suffer from the same thing as you, in fact I have L4/L5 & L5/S1 both herniated, am 50 years, have put up with it on and off since 21, usually treat with Codine, and have had a couple of steroid injections. I have heard recently about very good results from MICRO discectomy surgery, where they just cut the bulging part of the disc and leave the rest. Problem for me is, the doc I see thinks the nerve is being jammed/pinched in my glutes, not specifically at my spine. I appreciate that the pain can be severe, but from my experience, toughing it out for a while, usually works. (Although not a long term solution) There are many ways to solve the back pain problem, trouble is most of them involve a degree of self discipline / stretching / exercise, which not many of us have the fortitude for :) Good luck whatever your decision, hope it works for you.
  21. If you want to educate yourself about Back Pain / Sciatica there is no one in the world who has done more research into this area that Stuart McGill http://www.backfitpro.com/ it's worth taking a look at his site, Stuart McGills work is peer reviewed scientifically valid work. There are so many snake oil salesmen / charletons out there, very few GPs know much more than just to prescribe nurofen you need to educate yourself and make an informed decision.
  22. Awesome thx never owned ANYTHING burton, might have to get hold of a coiler softy to go with this stuff :) how to convince the wife???
